Thanks for the video. I always get confused when people talk about the different types of lands so this helps

The best part of filter lands is that you can use them to convert generic/colorless mana from something like Sol Ring or Thought Vessel into colored mana.
Also, for myself specifically, Reliquary Tower is huge for my Eladamri, Korvecdal creature cheating deck because I run cards like Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant and Kodama of the East Tree in it where the more creatures I have in my hand, the better. But as I said, me specifically. Card advantage and high creature count is the entire point of that deck

I used to have a Rielle deck that relied on having massive hands that I could discard into drawing more cards via Windfall or the like. Those kinds of decks need Reliquary Tower. But for most commander decks out there, it's just a colorless land.

My Magic deck building skills is very average I will admit. But I keep on trying and learning from different sources that I can find and your channel is a very helpful one that gives good insights that many overlook. One thing I have noticed with Commander format of Magic specifically nowadays due to it speeding up, many don't like tap lands cause many view tap lands as being very slow. Which is unfortunate... However I do like the temple tap lands that allow one to scry. And also with the guild gates there's some support that came out for it that many overlook as well. However since my playgroup proxy the OG dual lands and the powerful fetch lands, I need to consider adding that since I get the feeling that tap lands and other specific lands like bounce lands are not good enough since my playgroup says they are not fast...

Bounce lands are potentially amazing. The only lands that allow you to keep a 2 land hand! Unless of course they are both bounce lands. Use sparingly. My primary concern with them is getting blown out by a wasteland, etc.
Unless you are playing landfall, then they are fantastic.
Reliquary tower is definitely overrepresented. Unnecessary unless you are planning on drawing an extreme amount of lands all at once.
Personally, this means I only run it in Belbe and any deck with Necropotence. Even with a ton of card draw, my Jeskai spellslinger deck doesn't use it because the big draw spells are at instant speed except for Sea Gate Restoration which gives you the reliquary effect forever. 3 color decks in general can't really afford colorless producers.

Bounce lands should be run in every deck IMO especially with the amount of MDFCs that we got with MH3, the ability to bounce an MDFC to play the front side of it later in the game is a pretty powerful effect

Convenient, I was looking up ramp videos, and this popped up. It's pretty informative. Thanks for uploading this.
I'm not sure if this counts as "ramp" or not, but I had an opponent cast Extraplanar Lens and exiled a snow land. As luck would have it, I, too, was running similar snow lands and was able to keep up a bit.
Question: What kind of ramp would you run in a Boros Voltron deck?

Glad it was helpful! I like to stay thematic with my ramp, so I would run Sword of the Animist, Sword of Hearth and Home, and Sword of Feast and Famine. Plus mana rocks and the like. You could also run Knight of the White Orchid. I also use Sun Titan to get back fetchlands.

@commanderbydaenen I've been hesitant on Sword of Hearth and Home since I do run some white equipment, but I guess I should stop thinking like that and look into it more. Wait, Sun Titan can grab fetch lands? I was unaware of that because of the mana value line. I'll definitely have to add that card into the deck. Much appreciated on the help, thank you very much.

What do you think about MDFC lands like Glasswing Grace and Pinnacle Monk? Is it worth to run them even if they don't fully support the deck's themes?

    • @commanderbydaenen
      @commanderbydaenen  19 дней назад +1

That is up to you. I prefer staying on theme, and most MDFC lands enter the battlefield tapped, so that is something to keep in mind. I had a friend build an all MDFC deck and suddenly lost the game when someone in his pod cast Umbris, Fear Manifest and exiled his whole library.

Can you do video covering the other things in your check list. Like what is considered a "sudden I win" or good spot removal

I've been thinking about that, but these videos take a long time. If I can get far enough ahead I'll try.
