Thank you everyone for all the love! And a special shoutout to all the BL Fans -- especially those who helped us with the international subtitles on top of the English ones we provided. You're all amazing!
I've never heard Filipino before. To me as a native English speaker, it sounds like a mixture of French, Spanish, Italian, and German. It's very beautiful!
For all non-filipino viewers, here are some insights about Filipino culture that may be worth noting while watching the series 😁 1. Many foreign viewers seem to notice the way we speak, well it's called Taglish (Tagalog+English) and yes, most people speak like that here (but mostly people nearer to the country's capital, Manila). 2. Gavreel's antics may seem cringe worthy to some (even to some filos), but to most Filipinos, that is normal. We are generally playful people and we react to those flirty words and comments with sarcasm. 😂 3. Family is a really big deal in our culture, as well as food. That's why families eating together is a norm. 4. Some slang phrases are used in the series that are quite hard to translate to other languages (example: "awit" is a response most often said when someone says something that hurts your feelings or may just be used as an expression) 5. Having a BL series is a huge step for our media because we are finally breaking through the barrier of conservatism that has plagued our country for so long.
Very Nice! I'm from Brazil and I never heard filipino before We are looking forward to the next episodes and very happy to know somethings about your culture
@A-Shin BL oh yea!! thanks for this i was actually thinking of the same thing that was why i indicated "nearer to manila" because personally we from the southern tagalog provinces are not akin to conversing in taglish (well not all of us). i was actually looking for a term to coin the fil-english of the visayan provinces as well as for the other local languages, good thing you noted this thank you!!

I really love this BL Series (Sakristan) brought me here. Though these are my observations and comments. 1. Superb and natural acting skills. Ang galing nina Kokoy at Elijah. walang feeling of awkwardness na makikita sa delivery ng lines. 2. Ang HD at linaw ng pagkavideo. So vivid and appealing. 3. Voice is well recorded, so audible and crisp hindi parang pinatong lang na dubbed and ung sound effects so linaw. 4. Since minimal lang ang time, hindi na ito sinayang pa sa pagpreview, paglagay ng opening credits at abangan. Sa kabuoan, congratulations and goodjob to the team. Thumbs up

Hi guys. Sa mga nagcocomment na parang anlayo kuno ng English translation from the actual filipino na sinabi, I get ur frustrations pero i think its good kasi tinatranslate nila yung thought nung sinabi (na filipino) into something that international audience will really understand based na rin sa context kung paano ung pagkakasabi (and sa situation). Kasi minsan may mga Filipino phrases and jargons na tayo lang naman talaga makakaintindi in context ng Filipino understanding, kasi ung ibang phrases pag trinaslate mo ng literal sa english sa kung ano ung literal na words from filipino, medj weird pakinggan sa english kasi nagiging weird ung words and nag-iiba ung meaning.
Example: "Mauna na kayo" (ung kakain na) "I'm not hungry yet" Sa totoo lang, puede naman talaga ung "You go first" pero pag sinabi kasi yan, sa international viewer ibig sabihin susunod siya na kakain after nila. Pero in context kasi is hindi naman talaga kakain si cairo kahit na matapos ung mga nauna parang expression lang siya na hindi talaga siya kakain, kaya to better cater the understanding to international viewers, ginawa na lang na "I'm not hungry yet" kasi kahit sa foreign maiintindihan na nila yan na hindi talaga siya kakain
It is really not just me who’s rewatching this over and over OMG haha Me being obsessed - And is it just me? Elijah looks like jimin sometimes and i am literally obsessed with them both i cannot!

I just finished watching all of season 1 and I must say, it can be cheesey but that's what makes it exceedingly heartwarming. I don't know what it is but this show made me smile throughout each episode. The relationships between everyone felt so real that I can feel the love. Yes, we inherited a lot of Spanish words because the Philippines was a colony of Spain for over 300 years. Then the US followed for almost 50 years. That is why Filipino is actually a "language salad". ;D
I hope this could be the start of Filipino BL's na accepting at postivie ang story. Hindi pa-backwards. Na sana hindi catfishing 'yung nangyayari. Na somehow, nakikita as normal yung BL.

Some facts about the Filipino/Tagalog language: 1. Filipino is the standard reference of the Tagalog language. It's analogous to how Malay is the source language of Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia. 2. The only other language used in this series is English. The Spanish you hear are loanwords. There is no French, Portuguese, German, or Italian in the language. Similarities to these languages may be attributed to Spanish and English. 3. Spanish only forms 20% of Tagalog vocabulary. Most of the vocabulary is still native, and most of the words used here are also native Tagalog words. For reference, English is 25% French and 25% Latin, but most of the words used in conversation are still native English words. 4. Tagalog is an Austronesian language, whose closest international language relative is Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Indonesia and Malagasy from Madagascar, not Spanish (The closest local language relative is actually the Bicolano and Visayan languages). Malaysians and Indonesians will get a leg up if they want to learn the language because of obvious cognates like pronouns and similar pronounciation, but the grammar is very different. Still, the Tagalog grammar is quite similar to several regional Malaysian and Indonesian languages, especially in Sabah and Sulawesi. 5. Aside from Spanish, other loanword sources from foreign languages include Malay, Sanskrit, Arabic, Chinese, and Nahuatl (a Native Mexican language). 6. It's nice that people want to learn Tagalog. However, do note that Tagalog has a very unusual grammar that makes it difficult for native English speakers (actually, most people) to learn. Probably the only nationality with a national language whose grammar is similar to the Philippine languages is Madagascar.
You are right. A lot more of spanish loan words in both Visayan and bicol languages than in Filipino. Such as: Key - susi - llave - ilyabe Brother, sister - kapatid - hermano, hermana Friend - kaibigan - amigo/amiga I was born and lived in Bikol until highschool.

I appreciate the effort of Filipino producers to embark on BL film project and I am happy that Pinoy actors can be as professional as their Thai ones. I enjoy the acting of the 2 boys in the first ep.of Game Boys, I love Gavreel as his face reminds me the face of my beloved Pinoy guy.
Thumbs up

Filipinas, el país fue colonizado por España 😂 Así se hablan aquí los 3 (tagalo, Inglés, español) de una tacada.
Historians (including Filo historians) like to call the old Philippines "the Spanish East Indies."

Hi guys. Sa mga nagcocomment na parang anlayo kuno ng English translation from the actual filipino na sinabi, I get ur frustrations pero i think its good kasi tinatranslate nila yung thought nung sinabi (na filipino) into something that international audience will really understand based na rin sa context kung paano ung pagkakasabi (and sa situation). Kasi minsan may mga Filipino phrases and jargons na tayo lang naman talaga makakaintindi in context ng Filipino understanding, kasi ung ibang phrases pag trinaslate mo ng literal sa english sa kung ano ung literal na words from filipino, medj weird pakinggan sa english kasi nagiging weird ung words and nag-iiba ung meaning.
Example:
"Mauna na kayo" (ung kakain na)
"I'm not hungry yet"
Sa totoo lang, puede naman talaga ung "You go first" pero pag sinabi kasi yan, sa international viewer ibig sabihin susunod siya na kakain after nila. Pero in context kasi is hindi naman talaga kakain si cairo kahit na matapos ung mga nauna parang expression lang siya na hindi talaga siya kakain, kaya to better cater the understanding to international viewers, ginawa na lang na "I'm not hungry yet" kasi kahit sa foreign maiintindihan na nila yan na hindi talaga siya kakain
ayun lang tnx for listening to my ted talk hahaha 😅😅 Hope you may all understand and SUPPORTING THIS SERIES! FIGHTING!
Yung iba kc gusto ata word by word ang translation which is maling mali.
General rule in translating filipino to English is tranlate whole idea of a sentence not word to word
Kaso ung:
wag tayo plastic = really
Grabe ka = shut up
Mejo malayo lang talaga haha

Some facts about the Filipino/Tagalog language:
Probably the only nationality with a national language whose grammar is similar to the Philippine languages is Madagascar.
so interesting thank you!
Thankyou, I was confused between Tagalog and Filipino and grateful to find this comment.
You are right. A lot more of spanish loan words in both Visayan and bicol languages than in Filipino.
Such as:
