i just realized how much i like Filipino language its such an interesting sounding mix. im legit gushing over a language this is new.
The national language of the Philippines is Tagalog (Filipino) and English. Spanish use to be included in that. The Philippines was colonized by Spain for 333 years and the Americans colonized the Philippines for 50 years. Hence why you hear a mixture and combination of these languages.
It is common in the Philippines to mix Tagalog language with English which is called Taglish. Most Filipinos are used to speak in Taglish due to the fact that English is their second official language. If you've ever come across with a group of Filipino people talking together, you'll notice that they don't speak in pure Filipino/Tagalog at all. Most series or drama in TV also use Taglish.
Tagalog/Filipino language on the other hand have some words which sounds like Spanish because the Philippines have been under the colonization of the Spaniards for over 300 years

Since bl industry is now a trend here in PH, I hope they produce BL series that tackles acceptance from different units of our society like family and others (like dark Blue Kiss). Maybe in the future or after the pandemic, they can produce one pero kasi open na naman yung mga tao sa same sex relationships eh, problem is, most of the people are uncomfortable of discussing it. I'm pretty sure naman ito na yung start ng BL era dito sa Pilipinas (exciting 🤗). And we look forward to more ph bl series in the future. 😊

Well, we used to be Spanish speakers before the 20th Century, and we became English speakers during the 20th century. hahah Philippine History with Spanish and American era gave that to us hahahaha

Also, I LOVE that as a Filipino, I can understand little nuances that you’d only know if you were immersed in the culture or if it’s your culture too. An example is the “O po” that Xavier said to Mico at 19:10 which made Mico smile. It’s established that Mico is younger than Xavier because he’s a Freshman and Xavier is a Senior (and because Xavier called Mico a baby) and in the Filipino culture, you’d usually say, “po” at the end of sentences if you were speaking to someone older/someone needing respect. Because of this, it’s endearing for Xavier to say this to Mico because culturally it’s not accurate, but it’s used as a teasing/playful thing instead. But ifykyk tbh.
