I like this trick. NAF recommended to brake really hard once a month but this is much more easy to do. As I have a steep hill going down from my house I could do this quite frequently. Thanks.

    Wow... 😀👍
I was just struggling with this issue myself lately but never thought about this.
    Fntastic trick !
    Thank you so much !😃

In my previous car (Ampera) I did this regularly but still the corrosion went too deep and had to change the entire rear discs. The discs were otherwise near unused in thickness. I'm thinking EVs should go entirely back to drum brakes due to the corrosion issues.

Have you considered upgrading the 12V battery to lithium (LiFePo4) ?
That would be a good idea for peace of mind and also for a ljttle power saving since lithium does not lose charge and also it is worth adding a small foldable solar panel as sun protection on the dashboard 😉
It's a nice way to keep the 12V battery always topped up instead of using that function to get charged by the main battery over the inactive period 🙂

No I haven't yet, but it sounds like an interesting experiment.
I would be a bit concerned though about having a lithium 12V since the ioniq will drain it if you put on the heat without the "engine" on, that is you need to be able to put the car in gear for it to use the HV battery for heating.
I've actually done this a couple of times and if you drain a lithium battery like that you most likely brick it. The HV batteries in the car have a bottom buffer for bricking protection but the 12V ones do not I think.
I have Aux+ enabled anyway so it should charge it from the HV battery when standing still (and you have not drained it enough to kill all electronics).

Good point there, but the lithium battery I mean has an BMS inside. So you can not overcharge or completely drain it.
Aux+ function could be used of course as a backup, but for normal use, it should not be necessary to have it enabled.
The original lead-acid battery in the Ioniq electric is about 40 Ah and that would be the equivalent of an 20 Ah lithium battery. So, I was thinking to use a 100 Ah LiFePo4 battery that would be the equivalent of more than 5 times the original bat capacity. Therefore, it shouldn't need to be charged so often by the main HV battery.
(especially with the help of that small foldable solar panel)

A 12-volt lithium battery should not be charged in freezing temperatures, so do not use such in electric cars (where the engine compartment is freezing cold)

I heard about this, but there are cars with this type of battery fitted.
I think the newer Teslas have them also.
The battery's internal BMS prevents charging at very low temperatures...
I know this raises more questions, but it is worth investigating further
