    Great introduction to the game! However, there is an error at 13:49. You could actually use the combo orange + 5 one more time, since you technically use the other "5-dice" to match with the same orange. This is also an example in the rule book on page 9 (example 2). Other than that, a clear description of the rules in a nice speed. And thank you for presenting solo games, it is not always you have someone around you when the board game itch strikes!

    When completing a green castle, wouldn't you circle the icon in the green section? When you got the first castle (w/worker), you marked it in the green area, but the subsequent green castles, you marked them on the other tracks.

    When you got the castles, should've marked off the goods by the castles spot on the sheet

      Happy to help! And yeah, I really like this game-there are a lot of roll and writes out there, but this is still one of my favorites.

    Hi, Thank you for a great run through of the game, it was really useful. At 12:52 you write on the screen that for gray and blue you technically can choose one of two bonuses; silver or a commodity. Can you please clarify. I know I can sell a commodity and get silver when I roll the double hourglass, but choose to get silver when completing a river area . Is this what they say in the rule book at page 7 at the top ? I don’t read it that way ...but English is not my native language.

    Ok i bit... bought the game, read thru some of the manual and i’m back. Thanx for making this video. If this didnt exist, I’d probably never figure this game out. Whoever wrote the manual did a CRAP job. I’m hoping Fleet Dice is a little easier to figure out. This Castles dice game looks like a more complex version of “Hex Rollers”.... hmmm maybe I should stick with the simpler roll&writes, or only with ones that have rock solid, clearly explained rules (Dice Stars, Space Invaders Dice, etc)

    Quick question, at the 18:10 mark when you completed the orange section, shouldn't you have gotten 13 points instead of 10? The rules say "In phases 1 and 2 you gain the higher amount of extra victory points for completing a color".

    • @AnneDeWinter
      @AnneDeWinter 5 лет назад

      Dumidu Surasinghe I think so

    • @northernbeadle
      @northernbeadle 5 лет назад

      Hi Dumidu. You are confusing the extra victory points with the standard points for completing. The extra victory points are given once you complete ALL colours on the map. If she had done that in the first or second round she would have gotten the 6 extra victory points, or 3 extra victory points in the third (last round). The standard points are consistent for each round, and so for the 4 hex area she completed it was only worth 10 points as it was completed in the second round. She would have been awarded the 13 points if it had been completed in the first round.

    • @BerndKrannich
      @BerndKrannich 5 лет назад

      She did it right - the rule you're quoting applies to completing a color *on the whole sheet*, as she does at around 27:30 (filling in last orange, getting lower amount of extra victory points because it is neither round 1 or 2 any more).

    Selling commodities; the rules imply you get 2 vp each time you sell. Not 1 point for each sold commodity. You scored 2 pts at 29:13 but you got that because you sold commodities, not because you sold 2. If you sold 1, you would still get 2 vp’s.

    I wish I had looked at this video before ordering the card game. In my tiny room I play on a flat board I lay on my bed, and it's just an unbelievable space hog. I might get rid of the card game even though I enjoyed the mechanics.
    This takes up no room lol

    Well, at about 10’ I decided to pass on this. Its like the designer of this game tried to jam lots of options into it... to me its too confusing. If you have any other solo dice game suggestions, I’m all ears! Considering Roll thru the Ages (bronze, not iron). Dice Harvest also looks neeto (or is it Harvest Dice?) but its not a solo game.

      supercommando440 I like this one quite a bit, but these videos exist to help you make your own call! I actually tried Roll Through the Ages (Bronze) last night and had a good time. I would definitely play again. MetroX is my favorite still. And I have enjoyed my first few games of Welcome To. Thanks for commenting!

    This is quite frustrating; at 8:05 you rolled a dbl hourglass. The rules dont say you dont mark off 2 boxes under the time column. You’re playing it wrong. The rules say there are 8 rounds. Since it doesnt say anything about NOT checking off 2 boxes under the timer, I think we should assume the min rounds for solo is 4, max is 8 (just like the rules state the min and max for std game, which is 5 and 10). Hence rolling the dbl hourglass is no different between solo and std rules.

    • @Shawn4168
      @Shawn4168 5 лет назад +2

      This is incorrect. The solo rules are on the final page of the rulebook, and clearly state that there are exactly 8 rounds per phase. It also states that the hourglass die is only used for commodity selling.
