Isn't it funny how after over 20 years and hundreds of melodeath bands, Jesper's guitar playing is still instantly recognisable.
And looking healthy with a smile on his face.
Jesper's style is MDM for me
Well... He's one of the originators of melodic death metal. I think that has a lot to do with it :3
His playing is as recognisable as any iconic singers voice. There is no mistaking it. It is absolutely outstanding to hear his influence all over an album again. I remember seeing IF for the first time at the House of Blues in Chicago on the Clayman tour in Dec of 2000. Froze my fanboy ass off waiting down by the bus to get my copy of Colony signed and was really surprised at how gracious of a human Jesper was. I had no idea how much his playing would eventually influence my musical taste over the next 17 years. It is awesome to see that the force IS strong with this one!
What I find absolutely miraculous about his playing is that, when you analyse the music, there isn't anything in his melody that you don't already know - as in, there's no crazily fast shred or key change or accidentals or anything of the sorts. The music is simple but the feelings it can evoke is nothing short of incredible. I remember myself at 17 years old, after listening to Moonshield, I decided that I have to learn the guitar, cuz I wanted to play like Jesper.
Jesper's opening melody was like having a magical one-night stand with an old girlfriend.

I'm so happy Jake is still making music. He has so much potential along with the rest of the crew (even though I miss his place in Amaranthe with Henrik and Elize, hopefully Nils will cover that up). Got two great bands now. I only listened half the Album and love it

Jake E has a superior voice. I was afraid I won't like it with clean vocal, but now I have no doubts, this is great.

He sounds a 1000 times better than Anders
He is a good singer obviously, but I think his style is a little too smooth for the tune, I don't expect harsh vocals like early IF but the song could have benefitted from a bit more energy and attitude. Maybe Jesper should have got a hold of Brian Fair to front the band, since he isn't doing much these days.
@@shredhead99 If you're talking about Anders trying to sing and using copious amounts of auto tune, agreed. Thoufh can't stand. Kean vocals with anything In Flames though

This song is awesome and I am glad that two brilliant musicians from In Flames together with Jake E initiated a new band. I recognize familiar spirit in these melodies; feels like memories from good old past times were reanimated. I wish you guys all the best! Can't wait to raise a fist on your live shows!
Jake e voice was what brought me to his previous band amaranthe. Glad to see this new band with him the lead. Excited when the album comes out.

I almost cried when I heard this song. Oh, not the song but the guitars. Jesper, amazing job. The tone is so In Flames when they were great. It's really a shame what has happened to that band... but Jesper, you still got it! Those amazing riffs and melodies...

Man, In Flames is far better than that ... It's cool pop rock music hereand it's the heaviest song of the album. Just listen to In Flames "a new dawn", the new stuff still awesome even more live.

@@kyracze5174 In Flames would be cool - if Anders Friden could sing to save his life. He's the Lars Ulrich of singing - getting worse instead of better over the years. I liked him up to and including "Clayman", everything after is just forced, breathless squealing and fingers-on-blackboards screeches, especially when he tries to sound "aggro". Bleh.

Jesper...one of the greatest creator of melodic guitar...You know you have great melody when you can take it and put it into whatever style you want and still sounds awesome... I haven't listened to Artifact of the black rain (or whatever IF song of that era for that matter) in a decade (I just got back to it actually), yet, I still find myself whistling the melodies while walking on the streets....
Just saw CyHra open the Sabaton/Kreator show in Grand Rapids, MI. INSTANT fan...the whole cd is awesome. Well done fellas! I am a huge fan.

This is definitely great music. Excellent guitar/bass work, electronic synthesizers, catchy melodies, very good vocals, industrial percussion, heavy metal drums and great storyline for the clip. You guys really know how to rock.
Nice to hear a vocalist that we know can do the harsher vocals but can still sing traditionally.

Came back after a few years and daggum this still slaps! Heard this band first live, and damn, they sound so damn good live! This dude can freaking sing, didnt sound off or janky live at all. The whole band absolutely shredded their whole set. Would definitely catch them any time they tour with me, hopefully with Sabaton again!
In flames was the band that brought me into melodic death metal. Their change in style has driven me from them... then I started to follow whatever Jesper was doing and I am convinced that this mans skill on the guitar is what drew me to the genre. Jesper changed my musical taste and opened my mind and for that I will always be a fan.
Well there's where INFLAMES creativity and riffs went! Glad to have you back Jesper!

But I miss screams in the album. Listening to songs with these tunes, I need my screams :D

Sounds good dudes, the power metal vocals weren't what I expected but they still fit Jesper's riff style pretty well.

Love that old In Flames guitar style. Jake E has a great voice and I loved The Nexus. Hope Andy gets a guest vocal spot on the album. The interplay between him and Jake in Amaranthe was perfect and Id like to see them team up again.

I didn't know who they were before I saw them in Boston. But now I honestly think they're one of the best bands out there right now. These guys kick serious ass.
Wow, pretty damn impressive. It takes some courage to leave such a successful band like Amaranthe to start a new venture like Jake E did. It sucks he felt like Amaranthe was starting to revolve around one person, which I can only guess either Elize or Olof, but he was humble about it and left. They seem to be on good terms.
Wish him luck in this band. I'll be buying the CD after hearing this song.

I have the feeling that this is the sound that Jake wanted for Amaranthe before the electronic took over. I like it.
Jake your vocals and voice are great, I so much thought and still think your voice has a mid-range quality that is great on the ears, I'm tired of high pitch whining, and growls and all that date a song to this generation only in the last 15 years. It's relieving to hear a band not use it. Most of the Classic music that has stood the test of time and is considered classic today have clean vocals.
Jesper Stromblad could release an album of him just recording farts and I would throw all my money at it. That guy is the reason I got into MDM and started playing guitar.
