I have one of these for rough wood carving. I agree I'm very impressed with how they work, but I also feel that they're super dangerous. I saw your other comment but I'm a firm believer in using a handle on all grinders. I don't usually use guards on my grinders but I definitely do for this.
I use a router speed control with my grinder when l use it with wire wheels and cups. That way l can slow it down. Does the job and l have more control. Also helps when you have one of those off balance discs. Doesn't hurt the grinder. Cheers.
Super Pete show the people this extremely dangerous tool so that everyone recognizes that something like this is forbidden and nobody could buy something like that at all. I also say hands off otherwise they're gone! Greetings
I've used a chain saw for carving....but thats too scary for me...chances are it would break and fly out taking me with it....they have a disk with carbide inserts in it,that at least might not fly apart, but I would not relax until it was turned off....I do dodgy, but would not do that.
These are a cheap copy of a tool called an Arbortech, I have one of the original discs which is about 30 yrs old, not sure they still sell the 4.5” discs but the company makes a lot of woodcarving stuff. The original disc is one piece and nowhere near as sharp as a chainsaw chain. Plus it can’t come apart like a chain clamped in a metal disc. This is just a cheap copy of a good product.
One of the most dangerous products someone produced. We need to prevent his sale and use. I really don't know who is the psychic thought it was okay for production.
put a handle on the grinder. You need 2 points of contact. to be safe just like the chainsaw has
No . I think that's gives you a false of security .The kick back on this will cut your fingers off.

Yea agree with handles .I only use them on my big grinder.
I used one of these in a reno. I agree... extremely dangerous.
This thing is shocking .At least a chainsaw looks dangerous but this looks harmless???

Wise i think
You need to attach the handle to help with stability. Never use with 1 hand.. You forgot that people remove the guards as well which makes it worse.
Oh shit never take guard off.
