    I've been subscribed for a month or so and have been watching your videos. I've been fly fishing pretty much exclusively for trout for 43 years and am now just getting started in salt water fly fishing and will be taking my first trip to the Fl Keys and then SW Gulf coast end of April. Although we will be looking for Bonefish, Permit, Snook, Reds and baby Tarpon, I'd really like to catch some Jack Crevalles. What I nice fish there! Keep up the great videos.
    BTW, what EP fly is that? I see below you are thinking about posting a how-to tying video for it so I'll keep an eye out for it....

    Miguel I really appreciate your videos . Going flats fishing in three weeks. What are your thoughts on a spawning shrimp fly for bot bones and permit?
    Thanks again and merry Christmas

    • @TheMikelFishtory
      @TheMikelFishtory  2 года назад +1

      I would say is a great pattern!! BUT! it would depend on the “permit behavior” and that’s related to its environment as the bottom pattern, the depth, the tide, the fly presentation, the size of the permit really matters too and it helps to identify what method to apply to permit..
      Basically is a game between you and the permits! A game of taking the right decision.. The experience you’ll get it every time you mess up.. 😅 in the end will become an instinct💪🏽🎣 and sometimes will be just luck!
      Have fun out there.😃🙌🏽🎣🎣🎣
      Mikel.

    Hey Brother…as always love the videos! Just wondering…when fishing jacks like this…are you using a floating line or intermediate sink????

    • @TheMikelFishtory
      @TheMikelFishtory  3 года назад

      Hey man, I always use floating! But Interm sinking is a good option too.
      Jacks eats after the wave breaks, in the foam! Literally in Shallow water, almost in the sand. So I have no need of an intermediate sink flyline.
      If you already have one intermediate or floating just use it! Any fly line will get the job done.🤙🏽🎣

    • @TheMikelFishtory
      @TheMikelFishtory  3 года назад

      I use floating line for beach/ surf fishing. I use streamers for crevalles, sometimes poppers! It depends what specie you’ll be targeting… I would say it’s pretty similar to Mexico so a variety of streamers / shrimp/crab patterns will get you some fish on… thanks for your comment man and wish you the best of luck🙌🏽🎣🐠..

    Hola tocayo una pregunta qué línea wt usas mayormente para todas las especies q pescas? Usas diferentes wt? Saludos desde Cozumel!

    • @TheMikelFishtory
      @TheMikelFishtory  4 года назад +1

      El peso de caña y línea es la 9wt que cubre gran mayoría de species y muy muy cómoda para Castear todo el día. Conforme la marca de la línea podrías hasta montar una linea 10wt en una vara 9wt. 👌🏽 cuestión de gustos o rigidez de cañas. Normalmente cargo una 8 y 9 o 9 y 10 con diferentes moscas listas para cambiar de una especie a otra. Saludos tocayo!

    What leader and tippet setup were you using by chance?

  • @Charsept
    @Charsept 4 года назад

    Do they go on big runs? My reel is a little small so I only have around 100 yards of backing.

    • @TheMikelFishtory
      @TheMikelFishtory  4 года назад

      It depends on the size, Usually 20 pounders takes long runs and quite hard to stop them but not impossible. 100 yards could be a bit limited but I think it’s ok, depending of the circumstances in the day, if the fish runs parallel to the beach your lucky! Just run I try to recover as much line as you can! Also if it runs straight out you could get in the water and be drag by the fish it wont take to long till get tired.
      look around the area and try to pull the fish away from the dark spots “rocks”!
      This fish hooked will always look for shelter if you fish in areas with rocks and coral.
      In sand dunes are easy to land.🎣
      I have to mention that it requires a good drag on your reel or you could palm the reel to help slow down the fish.
      Hope this help. Mikel.

      un lamson guru II, 3.5 o el 4.0, es más accesible y de buena batalla al igual que la vara (echo boost salt)
