Hey guys, as the new update is getting closer, we take a look at some house keeping things to make sure you get the best experience. In this video, GibboIreland gives us an introduction to MSFS Addons Linker, which is a handy free tool to help you manage your Community folder! By having the real location of your Community folder elsewhere on your system, through the use of "symlinks" it allows you much greater control of your Community folder. Via presets you can very easily enable and disable any of the content of your Community folder, and customise it further to enable only select content. I've spent a lot of time on the sim learning how to start an A320 from cold and dark, to manually entering your route through the MCDU and much more crazily realistic flight ops.
However, learning the copious amount of file management and messing around with things in order to keep the sim working well has far exceeded what I expected it would be. The amount of problems I had in the first month of having it nearly caused me to give up entirely. I had to download the big 120GB+ files a couple of times. My biggest piece of advice, don't ever verify file integrity on Steam!!!
I hope they make it easier for newcomers because the hoops I was jumping through at the start might turn off potential future simmers!
Or else I'm stupid and it's been grand and easy the whole time! Thanks Murph and Gibbo. Love this community.

I have been using this for a while now and it works great. I only leave things on that I use all the time and the rest I turn on or off as needed. Why load everything all the time. Do not need USA addon's if I'm flying in the UK or the other way around.

I'm not sure if this will work with my setup. I have the planes, scenery ect. on drive two and the simulator on drive one. It seems like a better setup but will it work for me? Appreciate the helpful video. Slainte 👍

Am having big issues with my community folder at the moment. i think its something to do with the stream version of the community folder that is stopped adding lively and other 3rd party aircraft. i have about 3rd party aircraft i have payed for now and has not been added to my community folder.

doesnt seem right, there are 2 community folders - make sure you locate both of them (I think one in local and the other in Remote)

You can just rename your community folder, then delete the new one MSFS makes when its updated

of course, but this is also handy if you want to seperate different things. very similiar to xOrganizer
