Yeah, I used to go out on the delta a lot. Doing a lot of fly fishing. I knew Mike castello was the man. Dan blatton. John sherman. . I hang out with Mr. Galvan.
Thanks for the report. Any suggestions where an outsider such as myself should target crappie on the Delta? And second, other than trouble-shooting electronics do you do any guiding, crappie or bass?
Up north in Snograss is a good spot and yes I do consulting on catching and locating crappie or bass. I go over technics on how to catch them. go to info@alanfongoutdoors.com
Thanks got bringing up the Golden mussel issue Alan. It's can be a big problem if not taken seriously. It'll be interesting to see how the lakes in the area want to handle it.
Hey Alan I fish the san joaquin side. I picked up one keeper right before the rain came fishing was hit and miss. I'm going to be fishin old river tomorrow morning just throwing traps from the bank but I've seem alot of bait up the river and expect this next week to be pretty good 🤘🏻
Happy Thanksgiving Alan.. Im gonna hit bodega tomorrow, you know up by the river, and wondering what u hear about best depth for the crab hoops.. I dont have much experience rock fishing that region and any tips would be appreciated, as always. I think may near Fort Ross? Look for some structure? Maybe just look for the party boats. I do know its inside the 20fathom line for a few more days.. Happy Holidays .. Thanks again.. Phil
Called Steel Canyon at berryess . The decontamination equipment hasn't been set up yet. Probably next week, they said. It's eventually going to be at the launch ramps. The crew for decontamination is going to charge whopping $150 bucks. I think you have to pay launch fee too !!!!
First I read it was going to be free? Then someone said there charging a $100 deposit fee for setting up time and when you get it done they refund the money. ?????????
The water was muddy the temperature was 52… 53 was the top out in the Deep Water Channel.. Lots of fish….on the scanner.. striper and sturgeon… from Sherman island to Pittsburgh we scanned fish… they were not biting our baits. One and done bites… ??. Talking to the guys @ the dock after our day.. clean water was holding hungry fishes… 🎣
the golden muscle was discovered more than a month ago how long was it there before being discovered? its already in all bodies of water why just boaters you dont think those muscles arent on fishing gear lol they can live 30 days out of the water!Seems are governor is hell bent on stopping fishing in california could it be he wants only electric boat motors who knows how he thinks lol......
They probably been around for a long time. Ships from around the world go into port of Stockton and Sacramento. These mussels are most likely in the port of Sac also. They found them in Stockton and they get about 1 1/2" long. They need to do more testing in these lakes before closing them.
@@AlanFong i agree with what you said on Saturday they should be testing around launch ramps if their anywhere they would be there.too bad our leaders don't think before they move closing lakes adds more havoc to our already failing economy they don't think who this will effect and right before xmas too.hopefully when they get back from eating turkey and drinking their wine they`ll come to their senses shutting down is equal to the outcomes of the muscle that's not hard to see....wheres Newsom hiding its not a wildfire or pandemic i guess lol
same... got lucky with a few. I've spent a few hours in Discovery bay. Livescope.. find them and followed them, but won't bite. From what I heard, the bite is better at Whiskey slough, but have not tried it yet.
When more shops open to decontaminate boats it be easier. If you only fish lakes you probably only do it once. Every time you come out lake get the green tag on boat and you don't need to get it done again if you don't go to the delta. That's if all the water districts agree on the tagging system.
Poorest report I ever heard !maybe this foreign mussel is a good thing and the idiot that let them in doesn't want fishermen to spread the wealth to the water districts
I think it's a little more important than people realize. Do some investigatings on these mussels. They found them in Port Stockton in the SJ river and they cling to Pole n structures n pumps clogging them up. Water pumped out of the delta down south aren't far from there.
Wow, that's good information.Thank you for updating us on all the closures.
You are so welcome just some water districts are changing to further notice. Like New Melones probably close middle this week
Yeah, I used to go out on the delta a lot. Doing a lot of fly fishing. I knew Mike castello was the man. Dan blatton. John sherman. . I hang out with Mr. Galvan.
Good explination of the Golden mussels and our options Alan.
Looks like i wont be fishing the lakes any time soon.
Thank you Alan 👍
no problem
Happy thanksgiving 🍁🍽🦃🦃🦃🦃🐬🐬🐬🎣🎣🎣🎣🚣🏿🚣🏿🚣🏿🚣🏿🚣🏿
Happy Holidays
Thanks for update Alan, that water at Decker island was maybe 2 inches. Happy Holidays, I’ll book something with you when it clears up again
Yes best to wait as the Sac side is muddy. The SJ side will be fishable and I'm going to check kit out this coming week.

Yes it's all up in the air right now but I think a lot will be done this week after thanksgiving week.
Does kayak fishing have to follow the same rules about the mussel deal?
If you have a trolling motor on yes you'll need CF numbers and a decontamination done like a big boat
Thanks Alan! Any suggestions for catching crappies with a Kokanee trolling boat right now?
If you want to troll for them maybe Berryessa but the golden mussel has shut it down until further notice.

Your correct and we used to have this much rain all the time in Nov and the sac side would get muddy and the fish would go to the SJ side!
@AlanFong yeah the fishing is alot different from when I first started fishing out here as a kid but still amazing 🤘🏻🙏
Can you elaborate on the new melones closure? I know guys launched today, so
Might not be closed?
Yes it was changed and it is open still but lots like it will close mid week. I would call to make sure
What slough was you catching the crappies?
Snograss and Hog
Allen do you think when they open commercial crabbing we can use our older cage traps?
Like last year yes they will if no whales are around.

It's been good from Russian river to Fort Ross in 75-100 feet water. Look for flat sandy bottoms
Well, time to get back into kayak fishing!
lol if you have an electric motor gotta decontamize like big boat

Cannot for the life of me find these delta crappies
same... got lucky with a few. I've spent a few hours in Discovery bay. Livescope.. find them and followed them, but won't bite. From what I heard, the bite is better at Whiskey slough, but have not tried it yet.
Snograss in down trees and I use side imaging to locate trees and then live scope to see the crappies. I did video on it you can see on my YT channel
Well, goodbye berryessa...

Grizzly bay my friends landed 4 N 4 stripes N sturgeon…
He’s a bad dude….
nice
@ F My Friend 2. Just 4 Now.
Easy limits on stripers right now!! San Joaquin has better visibility for drifting.
Your correct as the stripers will find that cleaner water
It's just a money grab
I think it's a little more than that.
Happy thanksgiving! If you are ever looking mentor a newbie delta fisherman, take me under your wing! 🤣
Me too unfortunately without a boat not much chance to catch fish
Happy Holidays to all!
Poorest report I ever heard !maybe this foreign mussel is a good thing and the idiot that let them in doesn't want fishermen to spread the wealth to the water districts
No
??
You are mentally retarded.
