- In 1997, Farside went into the studio to record their final album, THE MONROE DOCTRINE. Completed in 1999, THE MONROE DOCTRINE became a seminal record in the Farside canon, showcasing the eclectic nature of the band’s entire musical history. Shot inside For The Record studios where Farside recorded their other two full length records, ROCHAMBEAU and RIGGED, this documentary presents a fly on the wall account of the recording process as well as an intimate look at the dynamics of one of Orange County, CA’s most popular melodic punk bands making a record.
Many thanks to Popeye, Bob, Kevin, Chu, Jim Monroe, FOR THE RECORD, Jeff Caudill, and Revelation Records for being everything you’ve been to me and countless others.

Farside is one of my top 3 favorite bands ever. Got me through some tough times. Probably more than any other band ever has. When I needed to figure shit out I would listen to some Farside and always come away with an answer.

That was great! Love watching things like this. The Monroe Doctrine is still a genuinely amazing album - sounds as good now as it did then. One of my all time favourite records for real.

If I remember correctly, the night that Quicksand had a scheduled show in 1995 at Soma in San Diego they broke up. Such a let down! Ticketmaster gave us a refund…,but a few hrs later we found out that Farside was doing a last minute show in San Diego (lemon grove area) along side Unbroken and maybe mean season or 1134
(that band had a female vocalist)…I think I have that story straight..it’s been so many years since that show.

I’m from SD so I faintly remember all bands that came down from OC, with Farside, around that time to lemon grove. They had an Asian female vocalist. I swear it was 1134..Anhedenia..this is your area of experience..do you know which band that was ?
