Financial literacy and building a WEALTH mindset are essential for educators. We have too many bad financial mindset habits, such as assuming you should be poor or thinking you're not in it for the income. Rose shows this to be false!
WEALTH is an acronym that helps us strengthen our mindset:
Write down what you want: You need to clarify what your goal is.
Envision your future: Keep your future, your why, at the forefront.
Affirm your desire: Remind yourself you can do it and you deserve it.
Listen to your inner voice: Trust yourself, your inner voice will guide you.
Take action: Whatever your first step is, do it now. Don't wait!
Hold the vision: Stay the course, you need to be consistent to succeed.
Of all these taking action may be the most important. Even if it is the wrong action it will get you somewhere. We used the example of investing with the wrong 403b provider. You will be better off with a bad 403b than no 403b, so do something and figure it out as you go. You have the power once you've taken action.
