at 12.13mins...after the young girl has expressed how bad she feels, sad, frustrated, alienated by her parents, confused, not knowing what to and wishing someone would tell her what to do????...the young counsellor responds..." I wanna let you know that..the direction that you're going sounds like..you do have dreams..you do have aspirations..." . Well, at this stage of the interview there's nothing to indicate that the client has clear dreams or aspirations...just confusion. Although the young counsellor is trying to lift the spirits and is commendable...and she does ask the girl as to what she wants to do soon after...just a suggestion but perhaps she could have taken the girl out of the depressive stage of the narrative and into a deeper and more " investigative " type of exploration of the emotional concern by asking something like ..." I hear the real concern in your voice..there are lots of opportunities out there but you feel confused and let down..not knowing what to do...I can't imagine what it must be like...but please...tell me more..." allow for the client to come out with what she wants to do instead of just asking...allow self awareness!...just a suggestion
I think this counselling session lacks some skills .....looking at the open ended and close ended questions asked they don't go with the session.....what Abt paraphrasing ND other counselling skills ....what is the theory used
