Sounds like your reel needs a lil oil to quite it down. Yes, those Mirrodine cost $12 to $15 @ piece. I had 2 different colors of the 17 they kinda float and will sink like 2' foot but I just bought 2 different colors of tge Mirrodine 18 which is a sinker model. I love those baits.
