I like the print lines that came through into the final piece. It made it look like board marked concrete. Also using the pea gravel to support the wings was a great solution.
well take 45 hours to 3d print, then make a ridiculous mold, then.....throw some concrete in it! We have two around the house. one is a little sickly looking...i needed more water in the mix so shes a bit chunky.
If you run Into silicone molding again, i like doing a regular "thin layer" to catch all the details and really shove it into all the nooks and crannies. Then thi-vex can be used to make it more paste like and will build up and stick better to subsequent layers. I do that for my masks and it works a treat. Also registration keys are...well.. key. This model had nice holds (wings, elbows) but if you do something smoother put chunks of scrap silicone in the 3rd or 4th layer to help hold everything in place in the plaster jacket. Oooh, And make a hexagon/oval/whatever shape you want that you can pour overflow silicone into to make mixing plates for epoxy, glue and paint!
@@WhenGeeksCraft Also, please don't mix it with your bare hands, cement is very caustic, especially as its drying / setting, if you miss little bits or it gets in a cut or under your nails it'll do damage. You can either use a bigger bucket, a shovel and like the other person said, add a bit more water and it'll also mix easier. Otherwise lay out a tarp, empty the bag of cement out and add water while mixing it on the tarp with a shovel.
Also i know its not shown in the video but we used a trowel for a lot of it. then it started to feel like more of a burden than a help. regardless Thank you both for the advice because honestly we have never used concrete before and seemed perfectly normal lol
Amazing work! I’d love to try it with clay but don’t have access to a kiln big enough for firing something that sized... thank you for sharing your art :)

She's still outside today! Looking as good as the day we made her!

You might want to use a little more water in your concrete mix that should prevent some of the voids that appeared near the top.
Thanks for the tip! Def will give that a try

Almost all of your links link to the rubber only.
Likely because the links have changed in the two years since I made this. I'll go back and check
