You weren’t kidding with the last bolt. I finally ended up finding the hole with one arm and the other arm hugged around the other side. I pinned it down with the left hand finger and twisted it with a finger on my right hand. I feel better than five minutes ago now that it’s installed. 😂
Hi Stuart from NZ. Thanks for your good advice and clear instructions. Just received my stainless steel chain guard for my Interceptor from Hitchcocks and looking forward to installing it. Couldn’t believe how quickly it got here - about a week!!
Happy birthday Stu! After deliberating for almost a year I have finally booked my interceptor 650. I am really looking forward to riding this beautiful piece of machinery. I thoroughly enjoy your videos keep them coming.
It's a very long time since I got my hands dirty doing my own maintenance, but your very interesting presentation reminded me how much joy and satisfaction I used to get from doing seemingly minor modifications. And a belated happy birthday from Australia. Phil.
Happy birthday, Stuart! The only downside to your videos are their affect on my pocket book as I upgrade my Interceptor with your stellar picks of accessories. Keep up the brilliant work. Greetings from Canada!
Subscribed . Have a collection of old British bikes mainly Norton & BSA . Recently ordered a GT 650 in Mr clean trim arriving soon ,already purchased bar ends & levers from Hitchcocks & definitely will order the chain gaurd. Great channel & very helpful videos . Cheers from Australia Greg
Belated birthday wishes Stuart! Have a great year ahead. And thanks for all the information you are sharing. It's making the whole enfield experience more exciting. Cheers!
Hello again Stuart, I agree with you on the plastic mudguards, the front one on my 1980 Benelli 900 Sei is made of plastic, to give the forks rigidity I fitted a "Telefix" fork brace. I only ever had one drive chain snap, it was in 1982 when I was riding my old Triumph T160V Trident, fortunately the chain unrolled harmlessly onto tarmac. I have heard of other riders failed chain locking up the rear wheel and even knocking a hole in the engine case, nasty.
I love it Stuart, it looks so sharp. I find one of the most useful tools in my tool box is swearing, it came in very handy when I was taking the fuel tank off my CCM Scrambler! And Happy Birthday for Monday 🍻 I.
Happy Belated Birthday mate , I hope it was a good one , thank you for sharing , I am loving the looks of these R.E.'s , just a nice classic looking bike . Ride safe .
Belated Birthday Greetings Stuart, trust you spoilt yourself rotten by getting yourself some goodies for you lovely machines. Your videos are truly very informative and a treat to watch. God bless and ride safe.
Happy belated Birthday wishes Stuart, hope you had a great day. Loved the video on the chain guard. Will definitely look into replacing it on my interceptor. I had ordered some accessories from Motone customs, one of them being the LED tail light & it looks brilliant on the interceptor.
You, sir, are a dangerous man. I'm finding far too many things I've decided I can't live without. Pataniers, handle wraps, DNA filter and now this. I've purchased them all. I'm signing up patreon now and I suspect that's an expensive longer term decision.
Another good video, as you can say I don't think anyone can complain about plastic parts especially looking at the price of the bike, my mate just bought an Interceptor and he's well pleased with it but has done a bit of personalisation with parts from Hitchcocks which is local to us.
Great stuff Stu. I'm drawn to the interceptor not just because I like the retro look. But the price means you can upgrade bits without breaking the bank. Agreed on the mud guards. Most of my old 1970s bikes what ever the make tended to suffer from fatigue around the mounting bolt holes specially the alloy ones. Plastic is a good material and imho the interceptor is retro looking not a 1960s copy thank God. I don't want carbs ,points ,coil and weeping sump gaskets thanks very much
Am contemplating one of these too. Have changed the silencers with the Scorpions with baffles so will be able to show this off. Belated happy birthday mate👍🍻
First thing I fitted to mine it's an excellent piece of kit ! As for the indicators I've fitted the Motone ones but had to have some "top hats " turned to fit them into that unit on the back.....had to go smaller rear light too ! Not quite finished yet just awaiting original wiring plugs from Hitchcocks 👍
Happy Birthday Uncle Stu - I hope you had a fun, safe and healthy day with your loved ones! ....and BTW, that new chain guard looks pretty snazz...although I do wish you had included the swearing (or as I call it “extended vocabulary”) as that, in your melodic Yorkshire drawl, would have been a delightful complement to the music.
Happy birthday Stuart! I think I am very late but I just saw this video. That chain guard looks very modern. Could you do a video on how you clean your bike chains?
Many Happy Returns Of The Day Uncle Stu...🎂🎂🎂🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈 I ordered a entire kit from ADV Tribe which also provide machine cut brushed metal parts which include Front and rear brake master cylinder cover, side stand extender, tail rack, back rest and rear foot peg extender and foot rest which keeps your foot over the hot exhaust. Other than that they have also the same brushed metal chain guard and sum guard. I would recommend any Indian biker who has Interceptor or Continental GT to check that out and the quality is awesome! I can personally vouch for it.
Thank you for the video. I own a 2016 Royal Enfield Bullet which has a steel chain gaud. I think the later models use plastic ones... I am happy to have a steel chain gaud. As it looks good and I think offers more safety... Bye Stuart 🙂
A very very happy and healthy birthday 🎂 to you my beloved and respected sir. May lord almighty always blesses you with grace health wealth and prosperity and happiness and a healthy long life full of love and blessings and guffaws of laughter. And may lord Ganesha always his choicest blessings on you on this special and auspicious day of your life. And a millions and millions of tons of love and blessings from India 🇮🇳 and especially Punjab and Amritsar city.
I think the primary reason why motorcycles aren't designed with enclosed chains (which is usual for industrial chain drives) is simply because it doesn't look cool. It's also unsprung weight, and a chain break in an enclosed space may be just awful to watch.
In my parts the dukes and enfields come with the open chain setup, but the standard commuter bikes do come with enclosed chains. I used to think it looked boring, but is more functional and keeps a lot of the dirt out requiring little to no maintenance
@Theraphim Hebraeorum - Chain oilers seem to work well, from all the reports by their users. Imagine, though, if all the cars and trucks lubed their exposed differentials by dripping oil on them.
A few motorcycles have been produced with a fully enclosed chain guard, Honda CG125 and MZ TS250 Supa 5, spring to mind with me. If my memory serves me well the drive chain ran in an oil bath, so as well as being protected from dust and grime the chain is constantly being lubricated. The MZ had rubber gaiters to allow for suspension travel. My current ride, an H-D Sportster has a belt drive which is cleaner than a chain, doesn't need adjusting as often as a chain and if looked after properly, the belt can last up to 100k miles.
You weren’t kidding with the last bolt. I finally ended up finding the hole with one arm and the other arm hugged around the other side. I pinned it down with the left hand finger and twisted it with a finger on my right hand. I feel better than five minutes ago now that it’s installed. 😂
I've become quite a fan of your channel. You're meticulous in an interesting way, yet you're even keel about most things. It's fun.
Hi Stuart from NZ. Thanks for your good advice and clear instructions. Just received my stainless steel chain guard for my Interceptor from Hitchcocks and looking forward to installing it. Couldn’t believe how quickly it got here - about a week!!

Did it! One hour including a chat with the nabour. Nice guard!
I'm running a bit behind, Happy Birthday! That is a fine looking chain guard, a massive upgrade from the stock one.

My old BMW airhead had plastic mud guards. And if you’re still looking for turn indicators, the ones that come standard on the Meteor are quite nice.

Peter Frise , perhaps the need to remove said chain guard at every chain clean and Lub, could get very inventive of roaring expletives.
Nice touch that Stuart 👍🏻
Happy belated Birthday wishes Uncle Stu!!! Nice present you got for yourself there :)

I wish someone comes up with a full chain cover. Then I wouldn't have to worry about riding in the rainy season. 😁 Too lazy to clean the chain

Fully enclosing chaincase is far too sensible to be "cool" and what would the metal mudguard brigade say ????

Hello Stuart, I like that any thing shiny :). Is there any updates on the Triumph gearbox issues?
Happy birthday 🎂🎉🎊

No I don't do that with any of my bikes I'm afraid.
Happy birthday Uncle Stu 🏍
