- Hey everyone! I am FINALLY back with part two of my binaural mic test video. I've put the finishing touches on my dummy and he is now ready to go. I put this video together to serve as a more proper microphone test demonstrating the directionality and stereo image of the microphone. The male haircut video is coming soon--don't worry!--and I promise to have many, many more videos using this mic in the future. Feel free to tell me what you think and offer suggestions. I'd love to hear them, :)

8 years later and this is still my favorite ASMR video. She intentionally, and unintentionally hits so many triggers. Guaranteed tingles. Her absence is painful. I hope she is doing well.
Is it just me or do older ASMR videos sound better than newer ones?

Paradoxically, I think the crazy-high quality of the mics and recording spaces nowadays is ruining it. It makes the videos sound way too professional, so they lose a piece of the personal aspect. But that's just my two cents; I know plenty of people prefer the ludicrously high quality for the realism and immersion.

I think it's because older microphones provide white noise while the newer ones don't.
Good observation, I think you are all dead on.
This is when ASMR content was at it's best to me. And Violet is the champ. ASMR triggering is very incidental to me, and it has been my entire life. It almost needs to be an accident, something subtle that's noticed. The early experiments in the genre offered experiences that weren't so overt, or sexual, or forced. None of that stuff works on me all -- it's akin to tickling one's self: The stimulation is there but it's predictable.
'earlier' ASMR videos just seem so much more incidental, and the moments of really great ASMR are profound to me.
I will always love listening to this.

Asmr has always been sexual. Yeah now it’s way more channels doing it sexual but even gentlewhispers herself used to do sexual asmr before she got big.

Looking back on that, I honestly don't know why I put that in my comment -- I could have just said "...experiences which weren't so overt, exaggerated, or forced." To get my message across. I just happen not to prefer overtly sexual ASMR, it's just not for me -- I could see why a lot of people would be into it at the same time hahaha.
The main thing for me is how more incidental ASMR triggers from earlier ASMR directed content hits different to nearly everything I've found now.
I think the amount of effort with minimal editing was the way, like how Veni set up the dummy so that we can hear the brushes instead of just seeing it or watching someone literally just brush a mic in front of a camera. Modern ASMR it seems if you're lucky on a mic brush video, they will use 2 brushes one on the mic and one on the screen but most just brush the screen with no sound, or brush the mic with no visual.
This is why I like King Hobbit for recent ASMR, she sets up mic rigs and although she edits in sounds, it matches really well and it is very high effort stuff. Also very unique style(chaotic relaxation lol)
So nearly 6 years later I'm still watching this and waiting for her return.....

In one of her last videos she mentioned her studies in Nursing, so i imagine that she finished studies, started work, and i imagine her 2020 as a nurse was intense!

This should be ASMR master class material. She got me into ASMR with her earlier videos. Nobody does ASMR as good as her these days. This is legendary stuff. Wish she would come back. A lot of newer artists are way too over the top and over produced and many do the same stuff. She was one of the greatest!
I've had to of watched this video at least 300 times In my life, I remember watching it when it first came out. One of the best videos ever made... also there werent ads during the video on it in the past so thats good to see, hope you make some well deserved bread off this one!! Thank you for it!!
19:42 - 22:55 sequence is the only, most superlative, most relaxing, most sleep inducing ASMR I have ever found. And I've been watching ASMR video for 8 or 9 years.

There has never been anyone better (or smarter) here. She understood the power of the human voice to repair the troubled soul. And she made herself expert in the technology to simulate that. WOW! What a fascinating woman she must be. God does not make many like that. A rare jewel.
Yes, it's supposed to be relaxing, and is meant to cause "ASMR" in particular. ASMR refers to the "tingly head" feeling some of us get when we are very relaxed. If this video doesn't work for you, it could just be that it isn't to your taste and doesn't trigger you. If you try a few others and you still don't get that tingly feeling, you may just not experience ASMR.
Revisit in 2024, and the tingles and relaxation still flow.

6:55 - "Now my dummy has some hair." lol Everything after this phrase - her pretty smile, getting up on her tip-toes, the closeup of her mouth, as she gives us a scalp massage - this is prime ASMR territory! So much to love about this video, but this is one of my favorite ASMR sequences of all time. Viva la Violet!

Agreed. My favourite part is from about 30 seconds to one and a half minutes, when she does the first ear to ear, but this video will always be an all time classic from the start of ASMR becoming popular . Most of her content is some of the best early ASMR I miss her a lot.

This was always my go to video in high school... would always knock out and wake up super disoriented with my mom screaming that it's time for dinner hahahah
I bought a pair of $100 Sennheiser headphones right before I discovered ASMR videos this summer (kind of a big purchase for me for that kind of thing) and WOW what a fortunate pairing that turned out to be. Fell asleep watching (or just listening, after a short while) to one of your videos and woke up hours later to another one and just felt so good! You know something's good when you say to yourself "How did I ever go without this?". Thanks again Violet! Also, thanks for reminding me about preparing my own chicken broth (you mentioned it in another video).. you're not the first person I've heard mention that there's a *huge* difference between homemade and store-bought. (lol.. just had to add that in there)

Hello, I am from Chile and I like these videos, 2 parts, but do not understand much, but some get it from what you say, and maybe I missed, but help me to sleep, do not know why, but the effect in three dimensions and your voice is soothing, it makes me sleep a lot ... and just relax me. All these years and the reveal of the big Santa decoration as her "Scalp Massage Prop" still cracks me up. It's so unexpectedly silly and being made to smile like that is definitely a welcome bit of relief that jumpstarts the relaxation.

I so love this video. Everything about it. Ear-to-ear, the lighter, the scissors, how you touch the lens with your fingers at the beginning, your soothing voice.. And also, you look really beautiful :) Please, make more videos like this, I would absolutely love it.
There's a level of background noise in early asmr videos that modern videos do a terrible job of capturing.

The segment with the lighter was especially good. Flames can be remarkably tranquil: I think they would make a great video (the crackling of a fireplace especially). Thank you for breathing life into a potentially mundane equipment test and creating such a blissful and gentle video.

I've watched this enough to lose the ASMR sensation, but It still relaxes me to sleep better than any other video out there. It's my go-to to fight the insomnia.

One of my favorite videos. Love the beginning. Tracing around the camera and the ear to ear whisper is very relaxing. The feathers are wonderful as well as the ear brushing part. You mentioned you could do an ear exam/ ear brushing video. I truly hope you do that one. Those are so relaxing. Thank you for all your hard work and your time. Your videos are part of my nightly routine, as you are (without a doubt) my favorite asmr artist.
