- Part 6 of 13. For more rare clips on Madonna's early years, check out madonnabce.vodspot.tv/ MADONNA EXPOSED First broadcast in 1993, Madonna Exposed is an unauthorized examination of the singer/actress's life hosted live by Robin Leach and Eleanor Mondale from the Palladium night club in New York City. Featuring rare and exclusive interviews with those that knew her the best, Exposed looks at Madonna's early drive to be accepted and how it drove her to New York at the age of 19 to seek her fame and fortune. Also touches on aspects of Madonna's personal life (Is she bisexual?), her love of pushing boundaries in our society, and her careers as film actress, style trendsetter and scrupulous businesswoman. While overly sensationalized, this special does contain some interesting insights and genuine revelations....worth seeing.
I agree. Madonna simply followed her instincts and went in a R&B/Club sound direction with her music. She sensed that Camille's songs would be trend out. Her decision to ditch Camille's management certainly paid off...a billion times over.
Who is Camille?
@@ReubenWalton Her former manager featured in the above video. This was before she signed with Sire/Warner Bros. records.
listen, she put everything on the line for her music and didn't want to be in a box. why on earth would she let a low level manager put her in a box? she had nothing to lose and everything to gain
Camille was thinking of Madonna as the next Pat Benatar which seems like a safer choice at the time. Madonna going the underground dance / club route was seen as riskier because the target audience were largely african-american and latino. When Madonna released Everybody and Burning Up, it was played in dance clubs and on black radio stations. She wasn't mainstream yet and many people thought Madonna was black. Though Holiday was her breakthrough track on the radio, it was the gorgeous Borderline music video that showed her to the world. Everyone now knows she's white. Had Madonna gone the punk rock / pop rock route, she might have been successful at that too. Pat Benatar is nothing to sneeze at. She's a legend in her own right (but I'm glad Madonna decided on the dance club route because she wouldn't have been as sexy doing the punk rock thing).
@@minty5121 this is right. She had the instincts to know what direction she wanted to go and what would work.
LMAO at the clubgoers trying to dance along to those old demos! 😂
Are they really hearing it while we are hearing it?
They look like drunk secretaries looking for husbands
@@tye81 OH MY GOSHHHH! S C R E A M IN G here!
I never understood how come Camille did not have some firm contract with Madonna, if she's invested so much in her.
As a businesswoman, you'd think she'd protect herself from other labels stealing M ( let alone, Madonna leaving her in the dust).
She trusted her as she was in love with her
she did and scored a settlement but it was for madonna breaking contract which wasn't a lot of money. Camilles lawyer kept trying to get more money saying see what madonnas making thats what camille should have 15 percent of- in they end they were like heres_____ to go away and she was like fine. it would have been in courts for forever with camille not really having a leg to stand on as she never got madonna good gigs or a record deal
I’m glad she never went with her as she wanted her to be a rock chick , def not Madonna style
She offered Camille a deal after and Camille said meh so yea it’s on her
Give the woman a break, Steven Brey said that Camille was Madonna's "knight and shining armor" this means she helped Madonna when she was struggling. It does make sense why Camille preferred the rock genre. Reggie Lucas who produced Madonna's first album said as well that Warner Brothers didn't know know what to do with Madonna at first. They thought she was weird. Had Madonna signed with Columbia Records and decided to go the punk rock / pop rock road, she might be successful doing rock too. Pat Benatar, Blondie, and Roxette were all very successful in the rock genre.
@@minty5121 camille conveniently after madonna left was like i had a record deal for her. there was no deal. in the end madonnas team was like here take this and f(*K off. this is why madonna never mentions her
Those demos aren't that bad. I've heard worse. I liked pre Madonna by Stephen Bray
I'm glad Madonna found her niche elsewhere before camille put the columbia records deal on the table. The music would not have sounded the same based off the demos with her. The music probably wouldnt even have been Madonna's.
WTF HIGH SOCIETY ROCKS
those demos are horrendous no wonder madonna didnt get signed
Not all of them.
Madonna was a hustler
What a precious TV special about Madonna!
1979 Love on the Run. A great song. Wow. She should have released it or I hope one day she releases all her songs
So basically Madonna's first fan is mad she isn't Madonna?
There is no doubt Madonna has proved herself throughout her career. This is what I don't get about people starting out with $35 bucks. New York is EXPENSIVE and she in the early days didn't have much money coming in. What am I missing here.???
That it is a lie. Those stories are almost always lies.
YAY, Madonna´s old ska things, I´ve been eaiting too long finding this!!
Those songs suck.
0:21 so we gonna ignore that this is literally sound like you belong with me on Taylor swif
I can't tell what is more ridiculous, this program or the people dancing at the "party".
(The way Camille Barbone looks away at 7:24 gives me the feeling she was about to cry - let's be honest, Ms. Barbone, it was not worth it).
8:40 😂😂😂
Of course she didn't do it on her own?? Everyone knows there's a whole team involved in her creation.
Burglars took Madonna's photos. Sick.
I dunno I'd probably take it as a compliment 😆
Madonna left her because she didn't want to perform rock
Madonna was already doing rock before and during her time with Camille. She was in a band called the Emmy but it wasn't going anywhere. Camille thought or hoped that Madonna could become the next Pat Benatar which made sense at the time.
and camille was annoying with not getting her any gigs or a recrord deal. madonna was 24 by the time she started going out on her own she was like im old lets get this done
Sorry Camille, what you should’ve done was to sign the whole band, then bray’s “everybody” will be owned by Gotham, and we all know what happens next.. everybody is a hit & it will not matter whom released it… many songs off Madonna’s first album are written during Emmy & music building days…
Didn't like the songs with Camille...
God cant believe my Queen had a horrific voice.
But now she kearned how to sing and now she's the queen.
Madonna has always been an entertainer never a vocalist. Like Kylie Minogue. They are entertainers who don't have great voices.
She never learnt how to sing properly. Even with great training. She is trash!
@@Hunny1auKylie is a decent singer
This show was dumb, the supposed point was to trash and expose her, but they played lots of exclusives in order to get ratings from her fans
Is someone bitter ? Can she not move on ?
QUEEN
The only person who made Madonna famous was Madonna. Of course you have to work with managers and producers collaborators etc. She left you because you were holding her back.
20% of $0 is still $0. Madonna's music under Camille would not have sold.
Get up is fab
MaDonna really paid her dews. like all inspiring artist.
Luz Figueroa dues. Dew refers to condensation.
6:03 what does she said? what was 4 years old?
Her company.
it's "what did she say" not said. yikes.
@whitebluebug i dont get that either
She could have left those HORRENDOUS demo tapes at home. Reminds me of a tortured cat screeching down a back alley. Makes your ears bleed.
Or dog fuck dogs!!
Bitter ... much, Camille??
Don't be ignorant 😒
Poor Camille!! Madonna was too much for her
I think she's too much for most people. I wonder how many managers she's had?
There is such thing as the wrong song for your voice... her style was different
didn't camille die?
TeenB94 by now? probably.
lol no shes on instagram and still manages
@@Spice99857 lol shes like 69 not 1000 lol she's on instagram and happy
@@aidanmorris2231 I didn't think she was over 70, but either way, hadn't heard from her in ages, but anyway, nice to know someone who never took shit from Mad Dog is still kicking.
madon
Unauthorized bye 😀
Wow her music was so bad it sounds like it truly is pay to play
Wow. She used a lot of people on her way up.
her songs with camille were better than Like A Virgin and some other songs. High Society is a great song. I love it. Madonna was so much more natural with that song with camille than many ofp madonna's helium voiced disco songs later, even though i liked Holiday and the one before that one. I always liked Camille alot and think it shows alot about Madonna that madonna never thanked the so many who helped her so much in the beginning. Madonna, ego driven ingrate.
madonna thought it didn't go fast enough so she basically managed herself and promoted herself, made her own songs instead of following what camille had in mind. it takes courage to do that
Ewww no these songs are much weaker than her later material!
Fkk Off Bot. Gfy.
The interesting thing about Madonna is that she just threw herself into the music industry. She did not come from a family of musician s. Her parents were not singers or dancers. No one pushed her to enter the music industry. She had no one to model herself after. She did it all on her own. she did not spent her whole childhood practicing singing or dancing like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. She started singing and dancing much later in her teen. So for Madonna to come from nothing and had no experiences in the music industry to become as famous and as successful as she did is amazing.
This punk stuff really didn't fit her. That's why Camille was dumped
