This series has incredible potential for a live-action adaptation. I am of the strong believe that not every series should be adapted into a different medium, but this Game of Thrones style intrigue and politics thriller about effectively mafia-clans would be able to capture many non-fantasy fans as well.
This was genuinely the best, most comprehensive summary of this trilogy that I’ve found. I’ve struggled to really effectively describe it to people when recommending the books, so now I’m just going to send them this 😂
Agree...the world building is awesome.Fonda Lee is very educated person.I thought about Taiwan and Japan though...Your review is spot on....subscribed 😊
The way my TBR fell at one point I read Jade Legacy, Wisdom of Crowds, and Leviathan Falls back to back to back and I have not yet emotionally recovered. Dig the video, new sub 🤘🏼
That was a terrific review: it made me want to start re-reading the series again! The ending was such a punch, but it was also so poignant and perfect. If you haven't read it yet, Jade Shards has a great short story about Shae in her youth, and that brings to light more clearly some of the reasons that brought her to leave the family. Anyway, immediate follow! :)
The final "surprise" in the last book destroyed me. Fonda Lee has the talent to create lovable and grey characters and then kick you in the face with them. So much tragedy.
Finally! It's my favorite series of all time. It has one of the best characters, arcs, and family interactions i have ever read. Oh men, i cried at the end of the second and third book. So so good. Ty for exposing the saga to other readers!
I love this saga so much !thank you for making a video about it! To me Kekon was more like Taiwan than China...🤔 and you totally nailed the multiple angles of the world building. That's one of the reason it's so great, i've never seen a world where the ramifications of the magic and plot were so diverse and relevant. Also the character development was 👌🏻 i cried so much ready this... and the plotwists are not for shock value, they really further the plot... i could go on and on about this saga it's so good!
I absolutely love your channel! Love how you break down series, it’s really helpful! You’ve convinced me to pick up plenty of series and even to NOT pick up a couple. But the main reason I’m writing this is bc I just feel like I need to say that I absolutely love every single B99 reference and clip they just make me so happy
@@idkstuffig8190 haha yeah this video had 4 b99 references. I try to vary it up, but b99 just has the perfect lines for so many situations. 🤣 Thanks so much! Appreciate this comment a lot.
I’ve been watching all of your videos and I’m so glad I found your channel, as soon as I saw the intro I had to subscribe lol. Well done video, the green bone saga is incredible and a treasure…and I wish I could get more of my friends to read it lol.
Have you already read The Sword of Kaigen? If not: you’ll love it so much! It also has awesome fights, family relationships, and emotional gut punches. Thank you so much for the wonderful review - I watched it in full despite of already having read the series. 😅
My husband isn't much of a reader and certainly not a fantasy reader, but when I bought Jade City recently and told him it's a mafia-fantasy, his ears perked up 😂 we're going to read it together soon! I didn't know about the kung fu, he'll like that even more! (he does Muy Thai and BJJ) This series seems like a great mix of things I like (fantasy and family drama) and things he likes (gangsters and martial arts)
Looking forward to your video on the Demon Cycle, kits a series i bought on a whim on the cheap but I've heard such mixed reviews about it i don't want to dive in commit to a 5 book series when they are all fairly big books. I shall use you as my trusted guiding light
I have been waiting for the eragon video all year 💙❤️🖤💚🧡!!! I’m so exited 🤩🥳 I have always wanted to know why it has such a massive love it or hate it audience, I always thought everybody loved it as much as I did 😮
It's a great day when The Book Guy posts a new video! I've been wanting to read this saga for a couple months now, and this video just made me super excited for it! Great content
I love the series so much and you did a great job with the video! Loved it! That said i wanted to point out (im sorry) that you say Anton in the video but im pretty sure you meant Anden, the Kaul’s adopted little cousin…i hope you dont mind me pointing it out, just wanted to help! Have a nice day!😊
I’ve only read the first book, I can say that it is brilliantly written, but it definitely wasn’t the book trilogy for me. Still I enjoyed every last bit of it and I can see why it’s so popular!
I just started the first book, am around page 130 atm. So far its not really grabbing me yet. All the info is hard to remember, i had to go back multiple times to remember some of the names and their titles. Still waiting for it to get more interesting.
I'm not sure about this series. I don't like crime family stories or martial arts. I was lukewarm on her novella Untethered Sky. So all three novels sit on my TBR to be tried at a later date. Thanks for the overview.

You have very quickly become my favorite booktuber. You do amazing work. Thank you for your passion and creativity ❤

@destro6971 good lord, that sounds painful! So much heartache back to back.

Thanks for making this video. I was struggling to put my feelings on this series into words but you did it perfectly

God I hope they do a tv adaptation of this... A GOOD ONE though duh lol

Hilo is among my favourite characters ever. To go from my most hated to my most loved over the series shows how excellent Fonda's character writing is

Definitely looking forward to the Eragon and Murtagh discussion!
Absolutely spot on! Read these as they came out and loved them so much. Your observations were spot on.

Awesome breakdown as always man. Excited for that Kickstarter to open up!
Yes! Thanks for hyping this up! Can't wait to receive the first book from the Broken Binding later this month!
You rock man! Love your videos! I am starting it soon too, so pumped after hearing your thoughts!!!

I started the Bergen brother and love it because of Kit! Never thought I would be a romance reader. Also love Greenbone!
❤
The intro is so cool Hahahaha

Oh so true! It IS Anden!
That mistake will live in my head rent-free for years. 😂 You pointed that out so politely!!! Thank you.
