Im sorry but I believe Shane Douglas's account more than Scott. Scott Hall tried to bury Shane Douglas in front of the boys after their matches in the WWF and it was not well received from the bookers. At the same time, I cant put it all on Hall because Vince Mcmahon's idea of a cornball professor gimmick for Douglas made him look way too green than what he was capable of. By that time, Douglas already had 13 years of wrestling experience, first ECW World Champion, understanding of the business, and psychology under his belt. A guy like Shane Douglas does not fall short in this business unless you bury him with bad booking, bad ideas, and a few wrestlers who acted like they were in the booking committee of the WWF.

It had bizarre fans who cared only for the dangerous spots and it made it almost impossible for anyone who got "over" there to make it anywhere else where you needed to use traditional pro wrestling skills (gimmick, mic skills, etc). It is all well and good having the gimmick of "the best" in a place full of nobodies, but when you go to a roster packed with people who know how to work and especially big names, it becomes very difficult to call yourself "The Franchise" and use that gimmick in a place that has Hogan, Savage, Sting, Goldberg, etc. He was also extremely hurt by having already been seen on national TV as a Dynamic Dude and Dean Douglas. In a big company Shane Douglas was a Billy Gunn level of talent ; good wrestler, good talker, etc, but lacking that extra it factor to be anything more than an IC/US title level guy. Shane Douglas was already an established WCW & WWF midcarder when he went to ECW and it is because of this that he had any standing at all. Being a tag team champ in WCW held way more cache than "I was ECW champ!!!" You cannot name ONE person who was a "star" in ECW that hadn't already been seen on WCW or WWF TV prior to their ECW run or became anything outside of ECW. RVD? Already been in WCW. Raven? Already been in WCW & WWF. Sandman? A nobody outside of ECW. Sabu? A non-entity outside of ECW. Mike Awesome? A Lex Luger clone with zero charisma.
it is good that ECW existed as a place for people to work, but it's stature is WAY overrated in hindsight and the "stars" that they had were mostly the guys who never had "it" and would always be midcarders in the big leagues.

Always been a Razor fan and never cared for Shane or ECW but he's so full of shit here. He can remember a story on a bus but conveniently can't remember fucking Jean Pierre Ouellette and starving him in his own territory to cater to his own friends who never drew money as WWF World Champions. Lmao 🤣 stop it.

Even if this is similar to how Hall normally sounds you can just tell he isn't being completely honest.

I think it's funny how the host uses different questions and footage to try and get heat on other wrestlers. He is a doosch the podcast he does with Kevin Nash is funny. Dude is such an opportunist and clown. I don't understand how he got these interviews which are good but I'm not sure how I feel about sean oliver (seeen olive r)
