STORYLINE:
Thailand’s foreign minister, who is also a deputy prime minister, suddenly resigned Monday after the cabinet reshuffle removed him.
Thailand's prime minister confirmed the resignation of Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nugara, and has already started looking for someone to take the position.
During his tenure, Parnpree had engaged in several diplomatic efforts, including his visit to the Middle East to negotiate the release of Thai workers in Israel who were held hostages by Hamas.
He was also involved in the first humanitarian aid initiative to Myanmar, where millions have been displaced by violence after a military coup in 2021.
Ministers in Thailand are allowed to hold multiple positions in the cabinet, and it is common for those who head major ministries to also be appointed as a deputy prime minister.
