Just got mine from Sunward today, looks like a very nice kit, appreciate the tracks not being rubber, the photoetch screens and masking is a very welcome addition.
While scalemates does indeed say new tooling, it doesn't specify what's new besides the new plastic tracks and the build around it. According to David, it's very VERY similar to the 2004 kit. For all we know, the new tooling is just the plastic tracks
You're right, but only kinda. The rest of the kit is basically the exact same as the 2003 version (hard to confirm if the plastic is better on this newer kit but the build is the same) but this one has half a sprue dedicated to the new plastic tracks and photo etch! It's closer to a special edition of the 2003 kit than a completely new kit!. It's definitely a decent upgrade tho and for basically the same price as well!
@christophergee8328 oh trust us, we're aware it's new tooling. However, from a purely building perspective, it's TOO similar from the 2003 build! And we don't know to what extent is the new tooling anyway. For all we know, it's only referring to the new plastic tracks and photoetch for the same price as the 2003 version

Tamiya was too humble when they advertised the kit. It's a direct Upgrade from the 2004 or the ukraine version. Quite a big upgrade at that tbh
