So beautiful, powerful, emotional... and more! ❤🔥🤩 She was coming to the end of the IYBT world tour here (64 down, 2 to go!) and clearly it's taken a toll on her voice - Noticeably cracked and inflamed sounding, and yet...Still the magic is there! She had to conserve what she had left very carefully but the skill and dexterity of her improvisational phrazing and riffing, combined with the willingness of the crowd to chip in and help her out, was wonderful. This lady was so loved, and righly so!
May be the auditorium which can affect tone sometimes, especially if it’s not sound proofed or insulated. I can tell that Whitney is having some throat problems in this performance though, there’s some screeching going on in the back of her notes
It's not the auditorium. Yes, she's suffering from a combination of vocal fatigue and injury at this time (she'd done 64 dates on this tour already and was almost at the end). So yeah there's some roughness/distortion in her high notes and she's having to conserve what she has but..... I love what she's doing with songs! Really showing versatility and dexterity with her phrazing and riffing. Being unable to belt all the time made her more creative in how she interpreted the songs.
Tour in Spain, recorded for a channel based in Monaco's Principality, with Italian subtitles: the magic of an european concert aired in the 90s 😂❤

Is it me or is her tone a bit heavier than usual during this time in her career?
It's not thicker than usual.
She's just just sick and has a vocal injury.
@@THEE.apples I agree it's not thicker. But it's definitely heavier as I inquired and now I know why thanks to you.
Have a great day.
I LOVE how she sounds!
@@chef1088 I wasn't complaining. If you are misunderstanding.... I just noticed. So I asked.
I love her period. ❤️ Thanks for your reply.
Vocal chord had a slight tear. During this tour she had a great deal of vocal rest per doctors. She gave so much of her self
