I live out in Beijing and I can confirm grinding down studs is fairly common over here in China. Many stores or individual boot profesionals prodive the service online (Taobao) and I've personally done it to about 4-5 pair of my boots. The main reason why I'd grind down studs rather than going for a AG soleplate is usually due to FG only availibility for limited/special editions. For those who are curious the cost to grind down a pair is around 6.5 pounds (60 RMB) and they'll offer 3 stud length variations, A. Recommened for good quality AG/FG pitches, Rear: 1cm Front: 0.8-0.6cm (This is a typical AG stud length and can be used on FG as well) B. Recommened for average quality AG pitches, Rear: 0.8cm Front: 06-0.5cm (This is the recommened option mostly aimed for AG pithces) C. Recommened for turf like pitches, Rear: 0.5cm Front: 0.4-0.3cm. (This is almost TF length, they do mention boots with hollow studs are not recommended for this option) I usually go for option A or B and have had no issues so far (fingers crossed) infact my Mercurial Superfly 9 first release white FG version had been my go to boot for the majority of the past 1.5 years and it's still in good shape generally speaking only that the studs have worn down significantly (probably close to MG length in the front now) due to mostly playing on AG pitches.
Also will very likely be sending my X crazy fast and Pred 24 to grind down the studs as well as their studs are signiificantly longer than say my Mizuno booths (Alpha and Neo 4 Beta).
You swapped side, I can not deal with this swap back right now! Great work again guys - one day you might make an hour long version of this and get through everything.
Day 21...i'm running low on food and water but still waiting for my questions to be answered. maybe you missed it James. reposting. thanks! 1. When do you feel like a boot should be replaced? I have a Future 5.1 which i love, and there is a slight sole separation on the heel only. 2. How far back is a boot still playable? For example i found on the resale the EvoPower Vigor1, which is a fantastic boot but is 7-8 years old now.
Regarding tongues, I like what Nike did with the Premier, it has a traditional fold-over tongue but they provide an outline to trim it off if desired. Good video guys.
I have reviewed kipsta boots before. There's a review on my channel from a couple of years ago. I'll probably review some more at some point but they have really gone up in price recently so it's not quite as an attractive prospect. I've got a TONNE of boots still to review but once the backlog is clear I'll probably have another look
I'm sure there are many who'd love to see the Roterio review. Maybe adidas drops another colourway with calf skin leather. I'm really curious to understand how they feel and perform. Once again, thank you so much for this amazing podcast. Love to both of you!

Review the roteiro preds, at least I can drool over the review even though I can never get ‘em.
Andrew, you heard the people!
I kinda get the idea of no review of it, but perhaps a post on initial impressions of the Roterio.
Good idea

You’re probably alright with that Evo Boot, boots before 2010 dicey, boots after not too bad.
Oh man, must have missed it off the list! Next week I promise
lol just watching this now
Makes sense why Chris Pottle randomly followed me & started the convo with “How’s your day going?” 😂😂😂 I hate yall
I sold my pair of the Roteiro cause I got a US 10 and after trying them on I thought a 9.5 would have been better. Also made a tidy profit on them.
Hopefully you managed to get a new pair

It's a nice middle ground for sure.
Hey, did you ever thought about reviewing cheaper boots brands like Kipsta? (The french brand from Decathlon)
