Hey Zack first of all I love the videos you make and the passion and effort you put into them. I have been looking for a good out door pair of basketball shoes and picked these up on sale recently after trying a few other shoes and watching a bunch of review videos on good outdoor ball shoes. With that being said, when I shoot jump shots in these I feel like I get up easy and feel really good in air even though they aren't all that light, it's like you said the weight distribution is helpful for a basketball jump situation. So when you do your jump height test, you do it while serving a tennis ball, I think if you want to improve on the criteria you're rating you should do it while doing it in the sport it was designed to play in. Hope this comes across as purely conservative but I think taking the average on a rebound or jump shot would make your review of basketball shoes more helpful, rate the jump on that and also keep in mind when landing in basketball you also are landing close to or on top of other people's feet, so feeling secure on landing is also something to consider, it's not the same with serving in tennis. Much love Zack, keep the videos coming!!
I had the vol. 3 and played it on galvanized and it's pretty good. The boost there is awesome. I skipped 4 and 5 because it was too stiff. I'll give vol.6 a try because of the full length boost. Thanks for the vid👍
I love this shoe, I had to break it in for a few practices but after that they were amazing. Comfort was outstanding and really had me feeling like I was right on the court. Only downside I felt was that I have to wipe it every. single. play. it's a bit annoying but other than that grip is also really good.
I think the shank was similar to harden vol 1 it goes around like number 8 shape, it's only visible in the middle in the cut in a half look. Great Video as always Doc. Thank you
Dr., great, informative content. Would you please do a review On the Jordan Russell Westbrook Why Not .5? I have a wide, flat foot, and have worn the .01, .03, and the .04. I’ve yet to buy the Why Not .5 , and it would be awesome to hear your breakdown of them.
my foot is 25.5cm long, wide footer 2E. I went true to size on this. Bought 25.5cm size (adidas US men size 8) and WOW! it fits perfectly for a wide footer like me 😍 Foot Doctor Zach LEGIT fit recommendation as for me personally 😊 thank you
Super late but when you break in the shoe, the boost gets a lot softer and you can push in on the outsole and feel where the shank is, and turns out it's in an x shape. It seems to go up a pretty good amount into the forefoot on the lateral side, and a little less than that on the medial side. Then only a little bit evenly on both sides in the heel.
I played with these for the first time yesterday! I dunked with no problem so it didn't effect my bounce more than centimeter or two, but running feels robotic with this shoe. Great grip and durable as hell. For sure buy a half size up if you're even remotely close to being a wide foot, it's a deceivingly narrow shoe.
@@therealvoltix No bro dont size down on this shoe it looks bigger than it fits! If ur feet are narrow it'll probalby fit u well. But ofc try it out before u buy if ur able to!
I bought a pair of Harden Vol 6 for tennis and they are great. The Boost foam is easy on my feet, my foot feels secure, and the shoes are nimble around the court.
Doc, the Harden 6's shank isn't just a small midfoot plate. It's a full length shank that is shaped like a figure 8, similar to the Adidas Crazy Explosive's shank. You can even see the upper and lower parts of that figure 8 shank in the cross section view at the forefoot and heel area
I picked up a pair of the Volume 6 for tennis and loved them right out of the box. By the time I was able to get my hands on the Sole Court Boosts, they had discontinued 😢. I have also been playing in the K-Swiss Ultra Shot 3 ‘s and NB Lav 2’s, both are good shoes but the Ultra Shots needed some after market insoles to help sooth my plantar fasciitis (Move Game Days). The Harden Vol 6’s were perfect right out of the box. Comfortable, stable, and most importantly minimal pain in my foot after 90 mins of tennis. I never thought I would find a basketball shoe that works better for me than a dedicated tennis shoe, but the Harden Vol 6’s are the exception to the rule. Boost mid soles have been a favorite of mine since first put on a pair of Barricade Boosts and was the primary reason for exploring the Vol 6’s. Great review, Dr Zach, and thank you for opening my eyes to trying out these shoes for tennis. 👍
Update: I am now up to 3 pairs of the Harden 6’s for my tennis game. Tried them with the Move Game Days and loved the shoe even more. Game Day Pro’s were not as comfortable after 90 minutes of tennis, the regular Game Days keep my feet pain free in the Harden 6’s even when pushed hard for 90 minutes. The only other mod I made to the Hardens was to swap out the laces for longer 63 inch round bubble laces. The tops of my feet come up higher than most shoes are designed for so longer laces allow me to adjust the fit while keeping enough lace to tie off. Not performance related, but I received several compliments from the other players and Tennis Pro the other night in drill. They definitely stand out compared to most tennis shoes. Every time I ran down a ball the running commentary was “Gotta be the Hardens”. 😄
Found some today at Ross for $36 and can’t wait to use these I’ve been watching a lot of reviews and good feedback on the shoe . Check out your local Ross you’ll never know if you’ll find your size
Thanks for sacrificing a shoe for the review! Would you recommend these or the Gel Resolution 8s for tennis? Cushion is the highest priority for me because I want to protect my knees on the hardcourt.
@@FootDoctorZach Wow that's high praise, you seemed pretty high on the Gel Resolutions in your other video. I trust your opinion though, your tennis strokes look great 😁 The outsole rubber looks thinner on the Hardens vs the GR8s, do you think the Hardens will last as long (or decently long)?
Hey man awesome review I picked up this pair after watching your review. The shoe really is amazingly comfortable for flat foot guys out there wanting to pick up a nice supportive shoes to ball in, thank you for all your posts and videos. I appreciate you. However quick question, you have any recommendations for the ankle bone being too wide I find the harden vol 6 eating into my ankle? Double sock? Or loosen the lace?
I had considered the previous harden for tennis, but didn't like most of the color ways. Unfortunately, this ice cream sundae-looking shoe is putting me off as well. Maybe they'll have a better colorway in future
I'm guessing jump force isn't the first thing Adidas thinks of when designing a shoe for James Harden. It's probably also not a coincidence that Harden's line is the only one that features full-length Boost. It does appear that Adidas managed to fix everything that was wrong with the Vol 5 though..
I love all the videos you make and I've been pouring hours into learning about the structures of shoes. I was a little confused about these though because in your best of the year video you recommended these for heavy players and centers but on this video it seems like it's more for point guards. I've been trying to find the perfect shoe for me. 270 lb flat foot but agile forward
You missed the biggest Con. I played in them once and, of course, people stepped on my feet during play. These shoes are UNcleanable. I'm hoping to find a cleaner for them,
This is what Harden Vol.5 suppose to be done, Adidas messed that one up (lmao trying to copy Kobe's Lunarlon/ React Midsole), Vol.3 is probably the best Harden's cause it's so lightweight & responsive with thin full-length Boost
The plate on these actually goes full length, and is almost a figure 8 shape, but you can only see it if you tear it apart top to bottom like a sandwich, not cutting it in half
Hi Zach! Are you planning on reviewing the new Converse All Star BB Shift? Seems like a good shoe to tear down and investigate, haha. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷

This was a really great, informative video! I'm definitely subscribing to the channel! Of i can ask a question: I tend to go up a half size or so to accommodate my wide foot. Would you recommend doing that with these or trying to go true to size?
@@FootDoctorZach FYI to follow up: I went with the size I normally go with and I’ve never felt more supported in a shoe! I think a smaller size would have been tighter everywhere.
I'm still a bit confused about whether these are good for someone with shin splints. You mentioned these are good for impact based pain issues, which I'd say shin splints falls under. But also listed shin splints under the cons of the shoe. Could you clarify what you mean in that part of the video? Thanks for the great review
I'm thinking about buying these to play tennis. Do you think these are too heavy? Pretty sure the cushion and support would be nice but I'm afraid it'll be too clunky

This is my biggest issue with any kind of shoe. Callus, I may fix with good socks and orthotics buy not sure how to prevent acronyx. With the pain in the toenail, I feel like no shoe is my size 😂 My foot size is about 28cm in length 11cm in widest part. Today tried harden vol 6 45,5 and I felt like I can even go for 46. Do you think toe protector silicons would help for acronyx? Really appreciate if you could give me some directions. Thanks.

Thanks.
