It's probably a hassle, but is there any way of knowing what local stuff you have on hand - especially if I wanted to add some good ol' flavour to the stack?! Second question - Do any of the local refineries do rounds as opposed to bars? Nice tray :-)

Is any of those refineries you spoke of involved in metals recovery from e-waste and alike ? It would tickle me no end and make me think twice when deciding on which product to buy.
I like the idea of owning metals that have come from helping to reduce land fill and all that. Cheers.

It would depend who they are sourcing the metal from to start with, currently not a big business for e waste in Aus compared to North America and Europe, more likely the local refineries are buying from mines or second hand/recycled jewellery

Very few (I think we are the only one in Australia) pay spot. Most pay much less. It's the same as anything, if you are selling back to a business you are going to get lower rates than if you can sell privately. Just look at second hand cars.

As long as it has the correct stamps on it and meets the requirements of the ATO in regards to bullion - then it is GST exempt whether it is a refinery or an individual.

Some of the gold for CPG does. Other refineries have other sources and even CPG have many other sources. If they relied on those they'd go out of business real quick.
