    With the Zn, Cu, Ni fake coins, with the minimal amount of Ni, would the coin still be magnetic and fail the magnetic test?

  • @J.K.Barrik
    @J.K.Barrik Год назад +1

    🤣 An XRF machine only penetrates a few microns into the metal and DOESN'T go all the way through, hence a good fake WON'T be detected. Only way to know if its real gold all the way through is to cut the bar in half and examine the inside. So many people buying fake without even realising it.

    • @BullionNow
      @BullionNow  Год назад

      We use a variety of methods for testing. Including density checks and conductivity which aid in testing those larger items that XRF may struggle with. We have also cut bars or drilled but this is always a last step as it's obviously very destructive to the item.

    This is the kind of honesty you would expect from a decent bullion dealer. Down to earth, showing the fake versus real items and giving us the heads up on how to spot it. You guys at Bullion Now are the best, thanks.

      No they're quite possibly the worst because they don't know how to use any of: density test, magnetic susceptibility test, or ultrasound test. Gold-plated tungsten bars would pass these guys because they are okay with XRF only if the size is right. Tungsten has the same density as gold so the dimension comparison they showed at the beginning would pass. I wonder how many fakes they have in their possession. I have seen tungsten fakes that are perfect dimension and pass XRF. If I were looking to sell a tungsten fake, these guys would be a perfect victim.

      @@BullionNow Hey mate I just had to ask... I did recently buy a 50g Perth mint bullion from a highly reputable dealer based in Brisbane and Melbourne which is all well and good. One thing that caught my attention is that on the back of alot of these bullion cards has the assayer signature, however mine does not have that signature, though noticed some advertised by even perth mint itself did not have this signature.... Just curious what this might be about....
      Edit: noticed the real one you showed in this video didn't have the signature either, with the exact same font bar number👍

    XRF machines are not foolproof. Ultrasound and electrical conductivity should also be used to test "bullion".

    There are heaps of Silver Perth Mint coin fakes all over eBay. eBay does NOTHING to kick these sellers out. It is a federal offence to counterfeit currency, which Perth Mint coins are. If it looks too be good to be true it probably is.

    Some remember people, always check the weight and size of the product, that the best way to eye test. But the best way is to have it checked by a professional who has a testing machine.

    I'm actually a little proud of myself for how many I got right especially considering I've only seen photos at this point of most. With the Silver kookaburra maybe it was just a lucky guess but the patterning on the feathers looked more like a crinkle pattern. I see you guys are using an XRF gun, but how do you rate those Sigma devices?

    The prevalence of fakes on the markets isn’t a concern for dealers as they have the means to determine if they are correct. The real issue is for your buyers when they wish to sell their bullion, market confidence in the secondary market limits our ability to liquidate without losing the premiums we paid when purchasing.
