An excellent sympathetic restoration, passed as fit for service by your furry friends, a lovely colour blue paint job, all this in a sunny garden with Oranges ! Thanks for posting this happy video ! Chris B.
@@kylegauvin5286 That's Avril, "The Assistant", although I think we know who's in charge and who the real assistant is . As you saw in this video, her tail buffing skills are second to none!
I love that there is no talking in these videos! Just so relaxing to watch you work and to observe and figure out what you’re doing! I also love that I’m learning about all of these antique machines and how they work! Keep these videos coming because I can’t get enough!
I find it amazing how he remembers how to put things back together, especially after the parts are restored and painted. They look totally different than when he started and there are so many parts! I love these videos.
When you work on old machinery on a regular basis, a lot of the assembly is intuitive. This camel back drill is pretty simple, most of the parts can only go one place. Old machines were designed and built to be repaired and rebuilt, unlike a lot of modern gear, which is designed to be replaced.
Awesome , I actually have one of these in my shop truck that was passed down to me , with a matching vise , still in operation all oiled up ready to go . It's a wonderful sight and it works great .
beautiful workspace! flawless restorations! marvelous editing! and cats!!! your video and the rest of your channel is wonderfully polished (and so are the machines). the way you use stop motion keeps the video light, and your ginger friend is a welcome addition. you use a bit of humor every so often, and it’s perfectly timed. it’s just the right amount and is refined. you are giving these machines a new life and the videos bring people, such as myself, joy. I love your channel! honestly, I don’t even use machinery like the things you restore. Very good job. I really like that colour, it's looking fantastic. The editing was also very good, i specially liked those stop motion parts. I'm waiting for your next video :-)
Same here. I made a stop motion video once for media/computer science class so naturally I just went 😍🥰🤩 when the parts ran across the floor. And Avril did a great job polishing the pole too hehe.
I found a disturbing lack of timestamps for the feline friends, so I'll add some: 00:00 (the right kind of start) 00:31 (in the background, right upper part of the screen) 01:33 (another fluffy assistant?) 02:24 (fluffy head petting) 02:25 (one, but then another one) 02:52 (probably inspecting cleaning process) 04:08 (majestic orange guard) 05:06 (the money shot/fan-service?) 09:18 (snacking after a long break) 11:20 (checking the background, lower left side of the screen) 12:16 (close-up of a bundle of fluff) The drill itself looks very complicated, maybe even too complex, but I'm glad it's now looking good and in working order.
Great video 👍. Mouser was the best part. A true addition to a well equipped shop and a future addition to a proper museum in all our future. Keep them coming.
Very impressive work, the knowledge, experience and years of manual work are visible on your hands and we are lucky to see them bring back such old damaged tools come back to life. Thank's for sharing and god bless.
I think your work is outstanding. I dig old tools and enjoy seeing you bring them back to life. Please stay awesome. Furthermore, in Mark Twain’s book, ‘Pudd’n Head Wilson’, he describes that a house is not a home without a cat.
Awesome my Dad had one of these. He adapted to a electronic motor and mounted it is his garage. Its still there my Brother is a Machinist and he uses it all the time.
I started to wonder why do you have so many subs with so little videos, but you seem to be ticking all the correct boxes: no unnecessary music, wonderful pacing, great editing, stop-motions, cat, quieted noises for those who love to just calm down with these sorts of videos... I mean, I subscribed in the first couple of seconds, when I saw the cat, but seriously. Your vids (not to mention your skill) are amazing!
Magnifiquement filmé monsieur, l idée du chat est le temps qui passe, le silence, la couleur et l animation, et l ajustage des pièces. Beautiful. I only wish our society would take restoration seriously. If the products are restored and used, it would reduce the waste we throw into our landfills and assist in helping the environment. Thank you for posting this video.
7:24 took courage. It is clear you are a machinist with many years of experience paying homage to your predecessors. Thanks as always for sharing your work.
Классно, просто супер. ЛАЙК, за такую реставрацию :))) ...
I love your videos and have subscribed to them. Keep them coming. Also love your supervisor. One word: When I was a head safety officer on a large machine repair workshop with 400+ employees many years ago I would never have accepted such long securing screws that you are using. The head of the screw shall be below the surface of the rotating part, otherwise there is a risk that clothes or hair or such get caught in the screw.
Fantastic skills sir, and another beautiful machine saved. Though my favorite color would be a really dark blue as you often see on steamtrains. Great video!
Time 5:26 it is called Stauffer grease pot. It is not for oil. Fill upper lid and body of pot with grease up to top and screw half turn before every use of machine. Nice job.
Very cool. Really enjoy your videos. I like how Leo roams around through all your things you're working on. And the way he/she sits up there on his/her throne surveying his/her realm. But we all know anyways that cats don't have masters, they have staff. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Thanks, Dan
Absolutely outstanding work there. Rebuilding the machines that made the machines that made today, now that is a skill long forgotten, how to look after machinery. This things were built to last, and they proven it, lasted far longer than their makers and left on their own for a generation of throw away tools. These machines will be still here in another 100 or 200 years, well after we are gone, and all thanks to these ladies and gents...and cats of course, that keep them going and going. We might be going through history...but these machines ARE history. Keep going as long as you can, and hopefully pass your skills to restore them to another generation that appreciates a fine eye for detail and how things used to be. God forbid we ever have to use thee again, example..a huge EMP to wipe all electronics out, but if that did happen, these machines will still be around, and still do the job they were made for. All we need now, is skilled people to operate them...now that's a challenge on it's own :)
I see that you have micro management under a designated shop kitty. Excellent save on this drill press. I haven't seen one of these before. I thought it was a hand crank at first.
Your restorations are a real pleasure to watch: such attention to detail; such respect. Bravo! (BTW, I really love your little 'caramel' cat. Always searching for treats; never being disappointed.)

A very, very nice restoration! One comment though. The oil cup with the screw on lid is actually a grease cup. It would be filled with an overabundance of grease and the lid screwed down a partial turn periodically to force grease onto the shaft. Very nice job.

I'm always surprised at few parts are required to do the job this machine does. Well done. You're video production skills are first class.
I think the cat is secretly telling him what to do and how to restore things, he should give him more credit!
Andrew Tornadoboy:’Never thought about the cat being in charge but I bet your right. Sort of a Mr. Peabody and Sherman kind’a thing.
