For a beginner glide bait, Id recommend Hellhounds. They flat out catch fish and they glide side to side using just the reel, no effort required.

I fish the ohio from a kayak, usually targetting bass, ive finding big jerk baits and the like along the side. In Kayak i can get in shallow to collect them, i throw new hooks on them and i got a decent collection of musky and pike lures now im planning on trying out. Some have definitely seem battle with tooth marks amd small punctures.
Just a good tip for anglers on a budget pay attention to the shore line and if you can get in close enough you can save a lot of money on lures.

I got that lure in the Thumbnail! That STORM lure! I Love that lure. I got one in the silver minnow too. I AINT caught nothing on them. I got so many lures I got to cast em all and catch something. Inbeen having fun with other lures.
I do Love the way those STORM Lures click through the water -Especially that Gold Perch one like in the thumbnail.

Another excellent crankbait comparable to the Rapala is the bagley's monster shad

Love the long arm spinner baits, can get into weeds and can fish fast or slow.
Glide baits and walking the dog can take time to learn. Get a stiff rod and a wire leader and practice. Glide bait can be deadly

      For sure man. Great points

@@sgangling easiest glide to use that you can get at Cabelas or Bass Pro has to be a Hellhound. They are very easy to use when just learning.
Great video! 10 lures doesn’t seem like much but that can add up quickly with lures being $15-$25 apiece.
If I could only pick three.....top water, single blade bucktail, glide bait.

Hi. What rod and reel size you recommend for the lures you showcased? Thank you!

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  2 месяца назад +1

Good question. For me I prefer to use a 9 foot XXH for Rubber and bucktails with a 400 piscifun alijoz 400 with a 8:1:1 gear ratio.
For topwater a 9 foot MH paired with a 6:3:1 ratio.
For twitchbaits/glidebaits/crankbaits I like an 8 or 8'6 XH rod paired with a 6:3:1 gear ratio.
If you only have the budget for 1 rod It would be a 9ft XH by tackle industries. If you want 15% off use the link below and enter code SAMGAZA.
      tackleindustries.com/?ref=_gjzn0X_-JiE6U
If you only use 1 reel I would err on the side of a 6:3:1 ratio Piscifun Alijoz 400. If you want 18% off those reels use the link below and use code SG18.
