I think Kolkata lags in terms of skyscrapers as compare to Mumbai but the roads and the beautification near the roads as well as the public space is much open and wide compare to Mumbai. I really don't understand why people are writing comment against Kolkata? The political scenario has became so worst that people from different part of India are bitching about each other. It seems like there exist no unity in the country. Still I am a proud Indian and a Bengali. For me development of Delhi, NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, North east India is equivalent to development of India as a whole, Jai Hind.
Skyscrapers are eyesore. Remove the huts and shanties and replace them with 100m tall suburban high rise. Skyscrapers serve nothing more than to inflate ego(unless you're in HK and you need to fit that many people in a small space).
Clean, wide, smooth roads with no potholes, disciplined drivers, no auto-rickshaw menace. Great food, full of civilized intellectual people. A thousand times better than that island city of high rise slums on western coast. God bless Kolkata and Bengal. Love from Jaipur.

It is a respectable place and a city which has the most important religious houses from temple to mosque. It is the City of Joy and I miss of Kolkata of not being capital but who want to be capital of a partitioned subcontinent Where it was the jewel and glory of Indian and Pakistani independence.
Its nice to see that you tried to drive in the lane, which was very rare in India. Lane driving gives a lot of safety. If we all can drive following the lane would be great. As I saw lane markings were missing in lot of places. It will be very good for every one if all these roads have proper lane marking and lane driving is promoted ( taught) amongst drivers . It will definitely reduce honking and sound pollution too.
@@hadhamalnam honking is more of a habit. I often see people beeps when one car is ovetaking another even on seperate lane. Driving schools they dont teach us driving ...but honking and changing gear....

In other countries, when a car switches lanes, it is completely responsible for ensuring that it is safe to do so and that it isn't cutting anyone off. In India, that car has no responsibility to check and everyone is for themself, so you have to honk to make sure they know you are there. This is really, really good to see my city in this format. Especially the Park Street area. It gives me chills whenever I drive through that section. Park Street, Camac Street, and finally, AJC Bose Road. And, if you get to experience that on a rainy day, you'll feel on top of the world.

I love kolkata too. But it is undeniable that it lags behind the rest of the metros in infrastructure. Even the airport has remained the same for years, with little to no changes/improvements. I was there for work a couple of weeks ago and my usual accomodations at park hotel, more specifically, the street adjacent to it, reminded me just how things have stayed the same. The same dirt and unmaintained pavement. Lots of character no doubt but the place needs a major facelift.
I have gone to Chennai a lot of times and I can assure you, in general, roads in Chennai are way better and cleaner than Kolkata. PS: I was born and brought up in Kolkata.

You can use any editing software that has a Picture in Picture feature to add the map, I personally use Final Cut.
