Chongqing, referred to as "Chongqing", also known as Mountain City, is a provincial-level administrative region, a municipality directly under the Central Government, a national central city, and a megacity of the People's Republic of China. center, western financial center, western international comprehensive transportation hub and international gateway hub. Chongqing is a national historical and cultural city. In 1189, Emperor Guangzong of Song Dynasty, Zhao Dun, first named King Gong and then ascended the throne, and Gongzhou was promoted to Chongqing Prefecture, hence the name of Chongqing. Chongqing is the origin of "Hongyan Spirit" and the birthplace of Bayu culture. Chongqing has Hongya Cave, the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, the World Heritage Dazu Rock Carvings, Wulong Karst and other landscapes. As the largest industrial and commercial city in Southwest China, Chongqing is the top node in the country for industrial Internet identification analysis. By the end of 2021, there are 104 scientific research platforms such as the Chongqing Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chongqing Big Data Research Institute of Peking University, 69 universities in Chongqing, China (Chongqing) ) Pilot Free Trade Zone, China-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Project, Liangjiang New Area, New Western Land-Sea Corridor and other strategic projects.
In 2021, Chongqing will realize a regional GDP of 2,789.402 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% over the previous year.
In 2022, it will be selected as the "Most Attractive City for Investment in 2021"; it will be selected as the first batch of key cities for national football development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period; it will be selected as one of the top ten influential Chinese cities in overseas short video platforms in 2021; "2022 China Vitality" The sixth place in the "Top 100 Cities List"; selected as a pilot area for digital RMB.
In June 2022, Chongqing will receive another 20 million yuan from the central characteristic carrier innovation and entrepreneurship upgrade award.
this place looks unreal, like straight out of a video game. the architecture is jaw dropping, infrastructure is so intricate and detailed. this place is absolutely massive, it’s mind-blowing that a city of this magnitude can fly under the radar and be relatively unheard of. I’m a sucker for urban planning and this is hitting the spot on the highest level
I was gonna make that video game comment. Like if I saw this as a track for a racing game and I had no prior knowledge of this being an actual city I'd think it'd be too good to be real. Very beautiful city.

The buildings across the waterfront under the bridge were beautiful, what a sudden sight to behold.
Intricate is not good.. intricacy makes it terrible to navigate and bad to live in for human beings. Causes lots of stress, health issues, and depression. The only thing that saves it are the beautiful hills, cleanliness, and natural scenary.
Notice how sometimes the lanes merge with very little indication as to when/where. Sometimes lane lines disappear and reappear in totally different places forcing him to change lanes at an intersection (dangerous). Also seems to have very little public transit, I did not see many buses or any trains.
What an amazing city. This actually the first time I have seen a city in China in any great detail and its huge in scale and so green. I love the mix of old and new. Thanks for uploading this.

Absolutely impressive, the scale of the buildings and infrastructure is beyond anything I've ever seen. Then I reminded myself that Chongqing is one of the largest cities on the planet, easily surpassing New York City in population, but very few people in the west even know that it exists.
Because it literally grew the most in the last 10-20 years.
As a Canadian this blows my mind simply because at 32 million people it is just shy of the 38 million people living in ALL of Canada. Just wild. Beautiful city!

haha, actually Chongqing is a municipality so it's basically a province. Among the 32 million people, 24 million of them live in the suburbs or villages, but a city with 8 million people is still very large.
infrastructures in China are way better than Canadians, but the traffic jams in China are way more severe, I have experienced 1 hour for just 2 miles back and forth. (during the pandemic no very much ppl willing to take public transport)

Yea, if you want to live in communism, your money is going places where only a few people decide. Also, I'd wager this is one of the better cities in China. For every "Detroit" in the US, there are 10 worse ones in China and Russia. Cities across the US are constantly expanding and developing. Where is the proof that they haven't?
Look at businesses. A lot of them can look like "great places to be", until you find out the workers are barely making $15/hr. Then take a look at others, that are "run down", and the workers are paid a good wage and good benefits.
I have a different opinion on the points you mentioned in your comment. First of all about Chongqing, according to Wikipedia, it ranks 19th among Chinese cities in terms of population and 16th among Chinese cities in terms of GDP, so you can assess where it stands in terms of Chinese cities. As far as I know, Detroit is an industrial city famous for the automobile industry, and then something happened that caused the recession, and I'm not an American and I'm not from Detroit, so I don't know if Detroit is the worst city in the United States, but I can tell you Chongqing is not the best city in China. Of course, "most American cities have stopped growing" is too much to make me doubt the truth of this statement. The infrastructure of most Chinese cities has been built in the last 20 years or so, so it will look new and modern, while New York became a modern metropolis, most Chinese cities were turned into ruins by the war. Third, you said that China and Russia also have their own Detroit. I do not know about Russia, but I can tell you that China does not have a big city like Detroit in decline. @@CCCCC7779 These cities and buildings in China are about 5~20 years old. Easy to build up a city that doesn't have old infrastructure in place. In different video, it showed a subway entrance out in the middle of nowhere. It was a rural area, from green forest to slightly constructed land and equipment. Dirt roads. You can go down the brand new stairs, and there's a subway stop with nobody there, but trains will stop and go.
About 12 months later at that same stop, its next to a new road, buildings, traffic, people, etc. It's wild.

今年六月底暑假去玩的，除了热爆了没有其他缺点，超级有特色的城市！好吃的很多，每天早上各种面轮着吃😂（碗杂面、肥肠面、重庆小面…）整个城市很立体，抬头层层叠叠的高楼，低头又是二十层楼高我这个平原过去的真是开了眼了😂而且那边的人都很热情友好，真是不错👍还去了成都，成都是第二次去，也超级喜欢，相比重庆更加悠闲的城市，适合养老，因为周边风景很赞，还去玩了四姑娘山，看了雪山🏔️推荐你可以走一走川西线，很美❤

This is absolutely incredible. I want to visit China one day, see some of those megacities and try to learn about Chinese culture and people. I haven't met many Chinese people yet, but each time I talked to one (when I did IT support from the UK) they were incredibly smart and friendly.

I'm from the USA (Chicago) and I have to say that Chongqing is one of my favorite cities on Earth... it's not quite as easy to get to for a tourist as the large coastal cities, but if you can make it here, absolutely do it. Lots of history, great nightlife, some of the best food in China (home of hotpot,) and one of the most interesting and unique cityscapes you'll ever experience... a river metropolis with winding roads, an eclectic mix of building styles both old and new, built amongst the hills and forests. Truly one of a kind.

I love all the meticulous details that went into this city. The old architecture meeting the modern, the skyline, the cobblestone tarmac, the wide open spaces between buildings so it doesn't feel claustrophobic, how trees are everywhere and symmetrical so the city doesn't look like a grey hell, and how damn clean it is. There isn't a single trashbag in site. Holy crap, the city planners killed it. Good job China! Love, from the West.

Wow, what a lovely, photogenic city! I'm a distance runner, and I would love to run a marathon there. The bouncy, rolling hilliness, river views, bridges, and wide variety of neighborhoods is just perfect for a big race. I feel like Chongqing is China's own version of Riga, or Adelaide, or Medellín, or Québec City. A city that really should be famous worldwide, or even regionally, for its beauty and uniqueness, that gets overshadowed by larger, more-famous cities on its continent and in its country, and is resultantly, and regrettably, nearly-forgotten by both international and domestic tourists.

However, the density grows in an horizontal way, with relatively short buildings compared to the Chinese cities I've seen in videos, which has an amazing vertical dimension (most in comments compared with ciberpunk vibes)

When people think of China, they usually only think of the big cities Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and technically Hong Kong. What people fail to realize is that there are a lot of relatively unknown cities (to foreigners of course) that would rival any capital city in terms of size, population and most importantly infrastructure, heck I've never heard of Wuhan before the pandemic and I was shocked to see how big it was.
China has a massive population so inevitably they are gonna have lots of massive cities.

I watch a lot of driving videos like this but they are always from cities and places familiar, so to see a place with architecture that is completely new and different is a really striking experience.
Massive city! The infrastructure and urban planning were so well thought of. Have not seen any overhead cables, glad there also a lot of greens.
The integration of the trees and plants everywhere is exceptional. It's so hard to find solace in the large cities as it is, but having so many trees, so much nature incorporated into the design, it is remarkable. Still hate cities, but it's definitely a step in the right direction for the people who enjoy city life.

The first 10 minutes when you exited the highway, that descent to the river bank was exhilarating. You can feel that the entire highway before that descent is completely built above ground level probably supported by concrete pillars. That is simply a remarkable feat of engineering.
That drive along the river bank in the first ten minutes was so scenic and beautiful. You can feel the mighty Yangtze river (or is it another river) on the right all throughout that stretch. Amazing!

You will only know the character of the city when you live there long enough. Every city has its own character. Chongqing should not have the character of Hong Kong. Chongqing is definitely different from Hong Kong. It should be that way. I would not say HK is incomparable and the most special city in the world as that would be so arrogant.

Yes, it’s so clean and well-marked. I think “traffic” was a misnomer in this title. Or maybe the video isn’t a good representation of the traffic - as it looks super organized and not busy. Maybe the roadways are what’s confusing. Either way, it looks beautiful and well kept.

Bruh I can't believe how good this is to just have on in the background while studying and relaxing, this city is incredible - I've seen a similar one with someone driving through Tokyo, and I can't get over the architecture in these Eastern Asian cities, they look absolutely stunning.

I've never been to China but this is one beautiful city! The diversity in architecture and even in the trees and bushes, you can see a lot of effort has been made to make this simply beautiful. u dont want to drive in Chongqing. even Chongqing locals get confused about its road system and navigation system is quite useless there because the city is layered.
i visited Chongqing a few yrs ago. i could not find direction to my hotel everyday. and worst yet when i asked locals about direction, they either didnt know or they just pointed at a random direction and said to me there, there, not far. then it took me an hour to walk to the destination. 😅😅😅

One of my favorite parts of Chongqing is how every bridge is walkable. Gives you superb sights of the city, and since the rivers aren't straight, every angle is different.
For city of 30 million people I find the traffic to be perfectly fine. I've traveled all over the place, and I've been in cities with a fraction of that population that have nightmare traffic compared to this. If you go to Atlanta, London, or Rome, you will find yourself extraordinarily stressed out by the nail biting traffic. This city is a breeze to drive in compared to those cities.
Also, i'd like to note that I absolutely love the architecture of this city.

Had an wonderful pleasure to stay 10 days in this city. It's unreal, the old, the modern, the working people, the way people treat you. It's so big, but so peaceful, very different from the big Brazilian cities. My wife is native from Chongqing and if I could would live in this city. No words to describe, just the video shows more than words. Even she got surprised how the city developed from the years she didn't come back. On the way back we took the high speed train to Shanghai, the train was equipped with beds. Chinese people are very strong in spirit, they developed from the ashes of the poverty and famine from the last century. It's understandable how the world fears China, but few people really knows China.
