- I set up a huge model train layout in my backyard, using about 1000 feet of LGB G scale track. This type of model railroad track costs about $8 per foot... so this is not something that a lot of people are willing to do!
In the video, you'll see a model of the Santa Fe Super Chief, as well as a model of a BNSF freight train, and a model of a 20th century European passenger train. These model trains were purchased from www.trainworld.com
Using multiple cameras as well as a drone, this video gives you a look at these large model trains from quite a few unique angles.
I spent a day setting up these tracks and making it all work. I shot the video on the morning of day #2 and by the end of the day I was picking up all the track and putting it all away. This model train layout literally existed for only two days.

WOW Thats is so flipping Cool!!!! Amazing! 👍👍
This sooo therapeutic i love love #goals
I like the filming from the rear of the train as it helps you appreciate the train consist and parallel train running . Thank you.
Jim-This is the coolest video EVER!!!!!!😍
Amazing!!!
Nice little tank engine and pair of coaches, the best little steam-hauled passenger train in your entire collection. One steam engine in action is better than none.
Love those cam views!
Awesome video 🚂👍🚅
I have been watching these videos for years, if it wasnt for jimzim i wouldn't be into scale trains as much as i am now.
Great video
I like the view from the side of the train. It looks like the trains are full size and your house looks giant. Very nice filming.
Nice😊❤
I Like Your videos 🇺🇸😎🚂
Hey Jim, great to see backyard train videos again. My favorite is the Santa Fe passenger train. I told you several years back, I purchased a Santa Fe Caboose (CE-8) and placed it in my back yard. Totally restored it into a man cave with the cupola being a loft bedroom. We were going to get together on a cruise/Rocky Mountaineer excursion, but C-19 got in the way. Hope your well and enjoying your new property.
Haven't seen these guys in a while!
Thank you for all the trains you should get a Grand Canyon model train.
I don't think they make that in G scale. I've never seen one. It's probably one of those that you'd only see in HO or O gauge.
Saw this coming when you showed the drone video of your backyard and I saw the concrete walkway around it......I was thinking it would be a ride on train like the one you see Walt Disney riding in his backyard!!!
Hey mr zim your one of the reasons I've gotten into g scale model trains now so far the only ones I have are rechargeable g scale custom Thomas and friends trains but hoping to get more engines and will be making thomas soon
Amazing job, but why is BNSF the only one with sound?
What I discovered was that if all three had their sounds going, it just created a horrible mash-up of sounds that was annoying to hear. The sound of one train was much more pleasant... so, that's what I went with.
What sound system do you use
Each locomotive has factory-installed sound. None of those locomotives had sound added later.
Where can you buy this train?
All the trains you see in this video came from www.trainworld.com
Nice video of the G scale model trains going around the lawn in the backyard of the house in Pasco, Washington!
The three of the 26 G scale model trains are the Santa Fe Super Chief EMD F7 diesel locomotive #202 pulling four passenger cars, the BNSF EMD SD70ACE AH diesel locomotive #9370 from MTH Electric Trains pulling freight cars and the Swiss RhB Rhaetian Railroad steam locomotive #LD1 from LGB pulling two green RhB passenger cars!
But what you didn't show in this video, was the DJI Mini Three Pro drone crashed into a tree!
