I've been watching him for a long time now and he emphasized active recall so much that I actually started doing it. It works wonders, by the way. Thank you so much Ali!❤
You are actually one of the few youtubers that I actually appreciate every new video , as they provide decent value for self improval, self confidence development and becoming active when too passive. Big thanks!
i just take a blank sheet of paper, and before the tests start i recall everything first, note it down as much as i can. helps a lot. and the stuff i have written on the page, help me recall what I'm missing aswell.
i always do it to the point the hand move itself without me thinking it to much..the tips is, don't sleep before the exam and redo the test practice sheet over and over again
@@enkvadrat_ that is the point.. you doesnt need memory to breath, so does engineering. You dont need to remember every word in textbook, instead need to know how to do it.
Thanks brother..... i have exam after 8 days but I sylebus doesn’t finished....suddenly i found that....maybe that would be amaizing and helpful for me....Thanks for shearing it to us❤
Alternative trick- For long answers, simply red the ans 4-5 times and write on a blank paper without seeing the ans then identify mistakes if mistakes are more than 3 then retry
As a visual learner, I have to hand write my notes. I love reading but using a screen reader to read to me while I take notes has been a game changer. Then when it’s time to recall, I “see” my hand writing the content, in my memory.
*Do meditation n' memorize lyrics to improve memory* One is for development of the brain and other to make brain used to remember large chunks of information.
Used to listen to lectures while I slept as well as studying. Would wake up dreaming that sh.t. past that class with a 92 while half the class failed out.
I've never actually studied. I just internalized a saying my grandma told me "If you don't know it walking into the room, no amount of studying with help you" as well as not being able to write till basically 4th grade so I formed a brain thingy to where I just kinda remembered everything
Hello Ali, can you elaborate more on how to recall more effectively? As in is it best to recall right after first time reading? And especially, when you wanna revise the second time, should you actively recall first or should you reread first? And finally on exam days, is it best to do revise and then recall or just recall?
I recently discovered Justin Sung which is a guy who teaches you how to learn and his thoughts on encoding are very interesting and practical too. After discovering him I think that active recall and encoding need to go hand in hand. *This is not sponsored*
Justin Sung’s encoding methods and mind-mapping is interesting and unique-however, I will say that he charges way too much for his course. A lot of the encoding techniques that he uses can be learnt without paying so much :p
I've been watching ue videos from years now..I wanna say that The most important things that I've learned from u are Typing faster & active recall thank u for sharing these stuff with us
this is exactly the tip my brother gave me . he study in a really good and high degree university and his major is mechanical physics . while i study English translation in a not very good university where you don't really need to pass an entry exam . as you can tell , the state of my english skill is very poor due to wrong way of study . and that's a really big gap between right study technique and a wrong one
I have to challenge that active recall is the single most effective studying technique. Imagine trying to recall information from a hard drive that has never been stored. You can only recall what you encode. If you didn't understand what you were learning, you will recall that same lack of understanding with active recall. Deep learning and elaborate maintenance is the engine, active recall is the premium fuel that makes it work better
I am 22 and didn't even start college feeling lost and failure....hoping to start next year but I will be 23 and feeling I left behind and think to just quit...where my friends at 22 are going to graduate next month and here I am didn't start feeling depressed and left behind... Though i have genuine and multiples reasons for this gap.... But the people bulling that i take this gap just for engineering
I do wish schools spent more time training children to have better, stronger minds and memories, instead of just basically forcing them to cram their minds with random information they won’t even remember in two weeks. It be nice if schools were designed to allow students grow and explore in learning. To teach in ways (and subjects) that allow students to want to learn more, out of excited and passion.
Ever read The Learning Game by Ana Lorena Fabrega? I think it would be up your ally (she's not a big fan of route memorization techniques like flash cards)
Studying ain't my thing, I looked at my book for 10 minutes and then I got bored so I just watched youtube and then I got all A+(over 90) for English, Maths and Science

“It’s probably too late for you on that test” 😂😂😂
😂😂
that's true for me.
😂😂😂😂😂
true 😭😭 I have an exam two days later😭😭
True 😂~ Tomorrow is my exam !!
There is also free recall, where you recall it freely on paper or speak about the topic.
Isn't it the same as Active Recall ??
Isn't it same as the Active Recall ??
@@RealRaghu It is just another type of active recall that I wanted to mention, besides flashcards and quizzes.
I forgot what this was called and had to come back and rewatch it.

After reading this comment, I forgot as well.
I forgot what I was gonna comment

Love the evidence-based side of your videos Ali. Huge inspiration for RUclipsrs. Keep it up!
😊
Active recall like playing flatform games, you try again until master it and remember where the trap and tap.
Indeed

I found that making the content of my studies more practical / applicable to me made it easier to retain the information and get better grades.

Always writing what i am studying works wonders for me, 7 years of experience. Try it learners
I miss this studying content 😊
me toooooooo
Eat, sleep and excersie well this is a great start. Stay Uncommon!
After 30 years studying, i can say there nothing helps me to remember what I started as understanding how things work!
The best way to not forget something is to teach someone what u learned
Great strategy! Even better if it's someone who can ask you useful questions on the topic(s)
something? what about football? Feynman is not God
Yes! Me, I just pretend that I was teaching people, but in reality I was just standing in my room.
That happened a lot for me when I was in my highschool 😭😭! Too late! But, it's a great to reframe my learning path! Thanks Ali🙏

That helped on my Test last week😊😊
I love his vids. My studies are getting better cuz if him. Love u Ali❤
This is the problem when you learn just for the exams. People should be let to learn life skills from childhood...
Thank God I am going back to school.
No more forgetting all I need to remember
Thank you for coming on my feed now i can say I've also learnt something.
I used it from my from 9th class this is awesome method

yes right after first time reading
second time actively recall
and then fill the gap
always recall first and then revise/review

Active recall is always the best

I feel like this should be common sense. If you want to know if you have retained information, you do that by recalling that information.
ive got a math test in.. a few days, a chem test and a physics test back to back in a few days after the math one too...
Simply everything 😂🎉
Thank you kind sir

what tools do you need for the animations in your shorts?

Me who can actively recall the reel i watched 2 years ago but not recalling the answers in the exams that i just studied for 4 hours.
Very informative yt shorts
If active recall is better, does that mean total recall is the best?
❤❤❤❤❤
Nowadays work need in good memory
Teach me how to edit short like this
But reading alone is already by itself, an active process of learning, right?
Sir how to actively recall … explain that point
Wow! To study i should do notecards and practice tests? No way!
So where does the assimilated information goes to when we forget?
Bruhhh, this editing!
where to find raw footage like this?
Best method is blurting method 😅
