BC on BU, BU on BC

- For a couple of schools with a lot in common, Boston University and Boston College sure dont seem to like each other much.
We share the same avenue, gripe about the same B Line, take turns winning the NCAA hockey championship, even get mistaken for each other by unfamiliar out-of-towners. But ask BU students which school theyd most like to beat (at pretty much anything) and youll hear two letters: BC.
I love how the BC guy talks about how the BU kids have “popped collars and backwards baseball caps” then the first BU kid they show has exactly that
BU was my first safety school. Thank god I got in to BC, because it sucks to BU.
They're both phenomenal academic institutions. BU did receive a HUGE increase in applicants this year. It's equally as important to note that BC intentionally added another supplemental essay in hopes of lowering the amount of applicants and weeding out less-serious applicants; BC was successful in doing so. For a lot of colleges, it's a numbers game. For BC, it became apparent this year that quality of applicants is more important than quantity of applicants.
Bob Howards And number of applicants and number of people admitted in no way reflects that quality of the school, rendering that one argument for BU in the video moot
and this is why im attending Northeastern
exactly
Yeah I'm a rising freshman at NEU. If u do chose to apply then definitely do early action for your application to better your chances. That's what helped me. And no worries I didn't get into northwestern but got waitlisted by UChicago and got accepted into NYU so clearly Northwestern Univ is strange.
Yeah sure. I mean I don't really know how to use Google + exactly but I will probably figure it out
***** oh i think i got it. i messaged u back
I went to UMass Boston... #notenoughmoney
I just finished my freshman year at BU and I had 3 professors that also taught at MIT or Harvard, so the academics can't be that much worse than BC.
iwtlhs112 Lolol then why does BC have a higher rating in Princeton Review
I helped my students get into both schools! Both are great-
Can you help me?
according to this everybody in boston wears backwards hats
1:58 BC was located in Boston from 1863 to 1917 when it separated from what is now Boston College High School.
SIgh, both schools are decent and for different folks. If you're preppy, Catholic, sports-obsessed, and conservative the better fit would be BC. If artsy, Protestant/Jewish/non-religious, could care less about sports, and liberal BU would be a better fit.
A lot of people go to university to get a good job. BU ranks 11th in global employability, just two behind Princeton. Where is BC you may ask? Unfortunately they didn't make the list (there are 150 schools on the list). BU: 1 BC: 0.
Boston University is #6 globally this year, #5 in the US. BU is very close on US News and World Reports. BU has a dental school, law school, Engineering and Medical school. BC for some things is great, but BU is far larger and for many things far better. I didn't apply to BC many years ago and was proud to go to BU, and my son is headed to BU for Engineering, also didn't apply to BC. The misnomer that someone would go to BU because they didn't get into BC is ridiculous. My son applied to BU and Northeastern locally, got into both and is headed to BU in the Fall.
www.timeshighereducation.com/student/best-universities/best-universities-graduate-jobs-global-university-employability-ranking#survey-answer
And who is ranked higher on US News? BU:1 BC:1
I dont know what everyone is talking about saying BU students are BC rejects. I go to BU and didn't even consider applying to BC. Totally different schools. The only thing they have in common is the word "Boston," and highly funded hockey programs.
Boston College is a university, and it is not in Boston, but we do not forsake our heritage. we do not forsake where we are from. We have ascended the heights, and we will not forgot our roots.
We are thankful for the hardships that have been endured to bring us as individuals and as a community to where we are, and we are fully prepared to endure more for the good of ourselves and the world.
Boston College is considered a "new ivy", BU isn't. Boston College is #31 on US News, the most regarded college ranking, BU couldn't even break 50. Academically.. BC>BU without a doubt. Everything else is personal preference. Just thought I would throw that out there.
dtao114 it’s not a new ivy... only you’re saying this.
While I was admitted to both BC and BU, I feel that BU is the place for me. I am extremely excited to partake in this rivalry in my upcoming 4 years, and more specifically to thrive in the heart of Boston. But if ANYONE makes the proclamation that BU is BC’s safety school, they are making a pompous generalization that only serves the purpose of proving the BC stereotype.
The BC campus kinda looks like Hogwarts lol
Joe Vlogs i totally agree with this comment
I'm an undergraduate business student majoring in finance, all other factors are secondary to me. BC was the obvious choice for me simply because Carroll is a much better school than BU's SMG. However should the strength/reputation of business programs be switched I would gladly have gone to BU.
Forbes 2012 Rankings:
26. Boston College
98. Boston University
I cried
"we usually beat them so it works out.." - I feel like BC winning 6 of the last 8 and 5 times last season doesn't warrant use of the word 'usually'. anyone?
Ahhhhh, I went to Boston University's School of Management and I don't recall that BU was known for it's engineering programs. If you think average students have A- GPAs and rank in the 90th percentile on the SAT then you must be on something really good. The fact is that more people APPLY to BU with the credentials to get in either BC or BU and thus, the school has a higher acceptance rate. As far as low income students go, are you out of your fucking mind? Both have rich kids.
Boston University has more of an Arts/Media/Theater program than Boston College. Plus I have always felt that BU was far more LGBT friendly than BC (Which is a catholic college.) All in all BU is more of a hip urban school while BC is more conservative and preppy.
I got accepted to both, and I don't know which one to choose!!!! I'm leaning more heavily towards BC. However, if I do get accepted to Georgetown then I'm definitely attending Georgetown haha
omg same! I'm leaning more towards BU though. It's BU Vs. NYU now but BC's RUclips videos make it very hard to choose for me.
@@racheldarmawangsa9589 Where'd you end up?? I'm deciding between BU and BC now!
Where'd you end up?? I'm deciding between BU and BC now!
@@rachaelchesterton8671 me too! I’m deciding between BU and BC now. Where did u end up going?
@magnagrandveritas disagree. people who get into BC and BU choose to go to BU. and i know from personal experience
To the guy who says no BU student can get on the train, well lets put it this way. Yes, no BU students can get on the BC stop but the train get's more excited when it started to pass BU. from the opposite side, BU student gets off the train first and BC get the leftover B line passengers
BC is harder to get into BUT doesnt make it a better overall school. Actually, i know people at both schools right now and the BC student says that BU is more fun, more diverse, and that she wishes she had considered it. Bottom line, their settings are extremely different so its really a personal opinion. That being said, most think BU is more exciting. All these BC kids that are like "oh my gpa was higher" who cares? You're snobs. The BU kids are having more fun anyways....
First two years BC is prob more fun b/c of the campus but Junior and Senior year BU takes the cake as its smack in the middle of the city.
Steve Wilson It depends on the person. I'm going to BC because I don't want to always be surrounded by huge buildings all the time; I'd feel trapped all the time
theyre both good schools. BC has better education, BU has better people. They each have their own qualities.
That moment when a group of guys yell "BU sucks", I just laugh out loud. So funny
Forbes Ranking....American.
BC #26
BU #82
Just thought I should throw that out there.
Face of BU right at 3:02. Picture is worth a thousand words
"BC-Notre Dame" would be more like Yankees-Red Sox." Uh, no. Notre Dame-USC would be like Yankees-Red Sox. BC would love to be there, but they very much are not. The Trojans are the Irish's top rival by a long shot.
@myl0ve421 guess what I know from personal experience too! all my friends got into BU as their safe school, I chose to go to BC ;) but again it all depends on your major I guess, I am speaking overall
I think there are lot of BU students out there hate BC, cuz they got rejected by BC. ---opinion of a neutral person
Allen Zhu I got into BC and was rejected by BU, which is weird seeing as BC is ranked higher lol
Got accepted in both but probably choosing BU. BC has a pretty small campus and it's not really IN Boston so that's a huge deal breaker for me.
BU...the common school for the common student. Nice job in hockey this year...BC owns BU in every way. What a bunch of clowns.....
Boston U is better than BC
As an outside observer who's visited both colleges, BU's campus really sucks, a lot. It's flanked by highways to the north and south, you can see and hear them from everywhere on campus. There's almost no grass, let alone trees. It's sort of like being on NYU's campus, except at least then you'd be in New York City. I think I preferred BU's academic environment, but oh my God what an awful place. I've ultimately chosen Chapel Hill, so I'm totally neutral on the whole rivalry thing.
Well, judging strictly from this video, BC has much more attractive females.
it's when the games are at the Garden for the beanpot
@magnagrandveritas *People who don't get into BC, get into BU. End of story.
I'm a neutral party since I don't attend BC or BU.
Phillip Parkes, not everything comes down to the SAT; I am a professional and I can promise
"...also our hockey team is amazing."
NOPE!
I'm being completely unbiased here, btw my sis went to BU and I know both of them pretty well but
BU has no campus, sports are good but loses to BC overall in sports, ranked lower, less attractive females, less friendly people, more city like (less preppy). Neither school is bad but really? It's obvious which school is "Better". The froyo near BU is very good tho ^.^
“Less attractive females” the fuck
BC is the irish-American school that only accepts white, preppy students. BU is the international school that is open to all with high academic standards.
Will URM feel out of place at BC? I'm black and I've heard that the school population can be a little racist. How true is it?
Low key watching this laughing as a die hart UML fan
BC has higher rankings nationally, while BU has higher ranking globally. Idk why that is.
BU has a better academic rating in the acclaimed 2012 Princeton Review than BC does....and BC is only one point higher in selectivity...I'm pretty sure that puts the two school on the same level. Amazing what marketing can do for a name.
Mikayla B. Go BC
Sucks to bu
cool bro we had 9 freshmen...and did you beat a ranked team this year? we did #19 FSU
cant wait to go to BU
BU grads are 17th most employable in the world... BC grades are 83rd. just some food for thought
which school has more or better partiess... bu or bc?
Take the SATs of BU students and compare them to the SATs of BC students. If all the BU students applied to BC, would the middle 50% of BU fit into the middle 50% of BC? i mean...no.
Philip Parkes SAT scores aren't the be all end all. I got into BC but not BU despite BC having higher standards
You're so original and clever. Did you think of that all by yourself? Goo boy. Now run along.
But BC is a Jesuit college...
@kaioak37 You have to take into account the number of people that apply. Also, a school having a small student body could also mean that there were a lot of people who got accepted that decided not to go.
in terms of commuting, B line dropped off more BU students and the leftovers go to BC
reality is that bu students are hating becuase they couldnt even get into bc...bu lowers the standards
0:37 Does anyone know how to throw a baseball?
Dude, this Ghoststar2009 is NOT my account, but I went to BU and I grew up in Hyde Park on the MurderPan line and I went to Madison Park and trust me, BU kids are NOT dumb, but most of the other stuff you are saying is probably true. And, btw, I loved Punk back in the old days and still do! And The Ramones played at BU, so it ain't that bad. Peace bro
Phillip Parkes cont: I am on a mobile, so my post may have typos etc. I just want to say that both school are near Ivy League and both will get you into the elite of society. Nonetheless, as an attorney, I do admire your argument..
I go to BU and I despise backward cap.
UMB represent!
BC is the best
haha for a northeastern student, this is so cute :')
@BCEagle73 nice to know BC's clearly educated in this kinda thing, esp if we have a hockey team. proving how close minded u guys are.
All the people defending BU make me lol. Boston College is an amazing school and impossible to get into. 31% of the people who apply get into BC. BU is a safety school, and over half the people who apply get in. That's just that. SUCKS TO BU.
School rivalry is so odd to me... I mean, people care that much?
People who don't get into BC, get into BU, end of story.
But Notre Dame doesn't even view BC as a rival lol our rivals are Michigan and USC, not BC. BC does not come anything close to ND in sports or academics
and then u ask harvard students who's just 5 minutes away LOL
BC is the greatest school on the face of the planet!
also fu bu
wrong. I got into both, and I'm choosing BU. It's a better school for me.
BC # 31
BU # 53
That's just usnews rankings though...no biggie.
Much lower rank? Maybe you should head to the research library and check some numbers. You're so defensive about being in a safety school! I don't even need to point out BC's affiliations and credentials. BTW BU ranked 63'rd among research unis this year. If you want to come to one of our football games and talk about it, feel free...superfans love doing charity work.
BC is not called a university, because BC does not want to be associated with BU
Who the hell cares whether BC is better than BU? Try getting into the Princeton Club after having been graduated from either school. Princeton allows graduates from Boston University to join the Princeton Club and members of the Princeton Club are welcome at the Harvard Club! So, which school is more respected by the snobby Ivy Leagues?
1
Boston College (34)
11
Boston University
and bu never wins a hockey against bc and it is harder 2 get into
you chose BC over Harvard..........??
This video pisses me off as a BC fan.
Sam Leweck me 2 man let's go BC
Nice school college's of bcu
bc is a saftey school
@kaioak37
not to defend BC. Im not on anyone's side. But an acceptance rate is by %...thus the size of the school doesn't matter...am i wrong?lol
@wonderwall135 Dec 9th, 2009. I can read, yes. And can also tell you that for the season and a half before that date we didn't lose to BU 5 out of the 6 times we played. Mix in a national championship in that time too. Again, "usually" seems like a rough word choice.
And "to stupid to figure it out" because I'm from BC?? BC was ranked top 30 yet again in 2011 and BU 82nd??? So where does that put you? Jokes on you.
@greenrootedplanet Well apparently you didn't go to college, since you don't know the difference between wear and WHERE.
Phillip Parkes cont: you that both schools are well respected, but your comment is flawed, for indeed, there are years when BU would have a higher mean SAT amonst its first year class. It all depends on the number of students that are accepted and actually attend. R
@SKERrrvy You misquoted me by using the wrong sense of the word "too," how embarrassing. Well, to be honest, I don't care about hockey. Let's just say both teams are good. Also, by what do you mean by "ranked?" If you're speaking academically, BU is not 82, its actually 53 or 54. And its business school is 34, which is the same as BC. Sorry whatever joke you were referring to failed miserably.
Sir, far more people apply to BU, and most of them have the credentials to be accepted. Give a little thought to what you are trying to say.
Go NORTHEASTERN!
time to get flamed...
9 years later ...
...You chose Chapel Hill? HA! You've got a whole 'nother rivalry to deal with now!!
I'm a native North Carolinian who goes to BC....I still root for Chapel Hill.
...which means I still cheer "GO TO HELL, DUKE!"
if its about Boston, why is this narrated by a British guy?
I got accepted into both schools and chose BU. BC is very poor concerning diversity, and if your looking to got to school IN Boston, then BU is by far a lot better.
BU is also above Brown, Cal Tec, U of Chicago, Duke, Darthmouth etc.. schools BU can't even touch. Most employable =/= more reputable, or better academics, or prestige.
@BiggishBradford dude u cant deny we are better in the regular season and just choke or get very unlucky bounces in the playoffs...we are like the patriots of the 90's can play well but cant get it done
Awww... this is cute, but nothing can compare to the UM/OSU bloodbath here in the Midwest.
When your schools need police escorts to get in and about of your rival's city, get back to me.
Nice grammar there; you must be a BC student. BU simply accepts more applicants than does BC because more people with the credential to get into either school apply.
Okay, I'm going to BU, but girl, do NOT use "nerdy" as an insult, especially if you are insinuating that there aren't any nerds here.
"There is no BU grades are more sought after." At least make sure you are able to type a coherent sentence before you try to make a point.
talk to @Blackaljackal, they have some interesting things to say
BC tries to beat ND.
ND tries to beat USC.
yeah funny how ND doesn't really care about BC that much
@7mkelly BU
BU has a higher acceptance rate because it's a BIGGER school! Doesn't BC teach basic math?
