It would be considered desperate and so disrespectful of (potential) future in laws (and of course applies in reverse). The casualness, carelessness, and lack of effort in today's Western dating culture is abhorrent. Keep this in mind if you're pursuing a Filipina--there is a standard code of conduct to be aware of. We don't believe in divorce so intentions have to be clear from the start and a vetting process takes place. Courtship can take years and the couple have to show respect and restraint to prove their commitment.
