  • Primal Provider #128, Dean, takes us to The Wreck, Port Elizabeth in South Africa, where he shows us the different methods of preparing baits to catch different species of fish, and later he expertly prepares an incredible meal for his family, walking us through his recipe, step by step.
    Catch Cook Adventure merchandise is now available on our online store - catchcook.com/...
    CatchCook.com is a movement that promotes and rewards a primitive lifestyle where we take responsibility for what we put into our bodies, over unhealthy and unconscious consumerism. Most people believe that food comes from the supermarket, and this platform will aim to change that behaviour by creating and sharing hunting, fishing, spearfishing, farming and gathering videos that promote and motivate a lifestyle free of processed foods, containing growth hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals and GMOs.

    So much appreciate your conservation ethic. Im from PE myself. Personally I strictly fish for the pan. So one 30+ cm shad is enough for me and my wife. I sit and enjoy the seaview for an hour or so, crack a frostie and go home and cook. But I recently fished st Lucia and cannot express my shock and dismay at a handful ul of durbanites (car reg)who still traditionally take home the sackloads of shad to make fish type stews.In ten years My grandchildren may never catch a Shad there. Education for the uneducated is SOOO important.

      Yip Richard I agree that is why I got involved in Catch Cook I own a catering company in Port Elizabeth and I am passionate about teaching fellow anglers the importance of catch and release angling and sticking to our limit. Where do you normally go fishing in PE. Feel free to send in a video of you catching and cooking a fish you can stand a chance of winning 1000USD in our monthly comp.

    The best way to cook muscles is once collected put them in a bucket of sea water mixed with corn flower for an hour. The muscles will open up and suck in the water. You then one by one grab them and pull the beard out under the water; the muscle will snap shut with water in it. You then put the muscles directly into a HOT DRY pan. They open up with the heat and the water comes out steaming the muscle instantly. No more then 30 seconds and it's done.

    I always assumed that mud prawns are in the bay. I noticed you pumped them from a tidal pool. Where else can I try pumping them? Thanks for an excellent show. My family and I love it.

    • @deandickinson6249
      @deandickinson6249 5 лет назад +1

      Hi Collin Sand prawns can occur anywhere you have a sheltered bay and tidal pools are a good place for them to breed. These prawns where put in the pool by anglers fishing in the area and over time have populated the pool to form a good colony. There are prawns in all the tidal pools in the Eastern Cape and blood worms as well. Remember to subscribe to be in with a chance to win loads of prizes on offer and you are welcome to send in a video clip of your own if you like. Thanks for watching. Cheers Dean

    • @deandickinson6249

      Hi Steve my dogs are German pointers Coco and Cooper they are bred for bird Hunting but my too are amazing at fishing after spending 5 years and growing up next to the water. They come fishing with me whenever I go. Hookies are definitely edible better than some Sardines I have seen served in restaurants. I live near the factory and always get them the day after they are frozen. I have another show coming out soon where I have a sardine recipe. I promote catch and release as much as I can and I will be doing loads of recipes in the future using Calamari prawns and sardine. Subscribe if you haven't already.

      Roux is a mixture of equal parts flour to butter cook it out till it fizzes and add milk whisk and it thickens to make a basic white sauce then flavour it with whatever you want to make a cheese sauce by adding cheese or add pepper to make a pepper sauce or parsley to make a parsley sauce or mushrooms etc. Making a roux is the traditional way to make a basic sauce. Hope that helps.

    Wow a fisherman with a Rasspl jacket on. So those of you that don't know, Rasspl is 100% catch and release, yet you see the fisherman catching, cleaning and cooking the fish in the video. I'm sorry but this shouldn't be allowed, if you going to do things a certain way, then do it right.

    • @deandickinson896
      @deandickinson896 4 года назад +5

      Hi Toni I originally started RASSPL in South Africa in 2010 and was asked to join the Catch Cook team of ambassador anglers. It took a while to make the desicion but it was an opertunity to carry on the concervation message by showing anglers that do want to keep fish to be responsible about doing so. There is nothing wrong with catching fish to feed your family in a responsible way keeping to bag and size limits. Catch Cook aims to educate anglers on how to handle fish if you plan to release them correctly. It promotes returning the bigger breeding stock fish and limiting your catch and not catching your limit. The majority of fisherman catch fish to eat them and due to the popularity of this channel it allows us a fantastic opportunity to put our concervational message across and show people how to feed your family in a healthy way. I still promote catch and release angling and by starting RASSPL it was a way to get anglers involved in releasing fish as you will see we do in most catch cook episodes. We don't only cook fish but promote releasing fish as well.
