I’m glad your friend is doing well. My mom just had her gallbladder removed before Halloween. It didn’t go too well and she got an infection. Was hospitalized for 12 days. She’s still recovering so I ended up cooking almost the entire thanksgiving meal. I had never done that so was a bit stressed but it’s going great. It made me so thankful for all my mom does for the family and she’s doing better now.
I feel for your friend! I had emergency gall bladder surgery 2 years ago and those attacks are the worst pain I’ve ever felt! It’s just indescribable. Glad she’s doing better!
My first or second married thanksgiving I made pumpkin pie one for hubby and I and one for family. He came home had some I asked how is it he said good. I sat down and had a piece...it was horrible! Somehow I forgot the sugar! But what hubby for saying it's good. Lol! I remade the pies.

Just a little trick. If u make a thin cloth damp and put it on the counter under your mixing bowl, chopping board etc, it will help to stop it moving around . Hope that helps! Oh my are gallbladder issues awful!! I had mine removed almost 7 years ago. It was some of the worst pain I’ve experienced. I was convinced I was gonna push through because I have anxiety issues when it comes to hospitals and doctors. My husband had to force me to go to the emergency room. We had only been married just over two months at that point. Unfortunately, and maybe even fortunately for me, I found out after the surgery that I’m allergic to Percocet. It’s good that I know that now, but it made my recovery take a lot longer than usual. Hopefully your friend has a speedy recovery. Love your videos!!
I had my gallbladder removed 8 years ago, it was the worst pain I'd ever felt. I was pregnant with my twins and called 911 during my 1st attack. Couldn't have it removed until after my pregnancy. Had to have 2 different surgeries. One to get the lodged stones removed, then two days later to get the actual gallbladder removed. So glad your friend had you there and that's she's on the road to recovery!

The difference in the Shortening vs Vegetable shortening at Walmart is that the Shortening still contains a small amount of trans fat. All shortening used to up until a few years ago when everyone started removing trans fat from everything. There's just a small amount in there but it adds flavor and also helps make icing set firmer. Not as much trans fat as in Hi ratio shortening which is typically used in decorators icing though. In the South where I live, icing doesn't hold up well in the heat. Real buttercream (with butter) separates so I use shortening. The more transfat, the firmer the icing will be and able to hold up and not melt.

Watching this a few days past Thanksgiving. Going to try raspberries for my jello salad this year at Christmas. Also, I highly recommend the Walmart deep dish frozen pie crusts instead of the roll-out ones. They are delish!

Nicola Straw when I was in the Glasgow Whole Foods I found pure canned pumpkin purree (May 2015) on holiday. a big waitrose should carry it as well. Maybe even fully stocked tescos by now. Since I haven't been to the lovely UK in 2 years my information is quite outdated ;)
Nicola Straw or you could buy a small bag of pre-cut pumpkin (waitrose, tesco) and cook them in the micorwave and mash them. Voilà - pumpkin purree. Since I can't get them where I live in Germany that's how I do it (well with whole butternut or hokkaido)

You should use the Evernote app for your grocery lists! I was terrible at leaving my list at home before I got the app. I never leave the house without my phone so I don't forget my list!

Then my dad, step mom and I saw Coco, about the Mexican holiday, Day for the Dead. Very good, I would highly recommend it!! My sister and my brother-in-law went to his mom's at 4 and couldn't stay for the movie. They will have to see it though. But I'll warn you, they stuck a 25 minute mini movie at the beginning, Frozen 2, basically. We thought we were in the wrong movie!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Kimmy. We did something different this year. It was just the 6 of us for brunch. Then my dad, step mom and I saw Coco, about the Mexican holiday, Day for the Dead. Very good, I would highly recommend it!! My sister and my brother-in-law went to his mom's at 4 and couldn't stay for the movie. They will have to see it though. But I'll warn you, they stuck a 25 minute mini movie at the beginning, Frozen 2, basically. We thought we were in the wrong movie!!

I’m forgetting my list ALL THE TIME. I made your Christmas cookies. Yum. I agree Costco’s pie is awesome. I planned on cooking a turkey today, but donated it to our Friendsgiving celebration, so I’m off the hook for cooking that. Our friend is going to smoke it. Ya! It’s just hubby, the dog, and I today.
