  • In this video I test drive a 2009 Opel Gt 2 0 Turbo Roadster. The Opel Gt was produced between 2007 and 2010 with just 7,519 units being built. Only one engine was available for this car which is the 2 litre turbo ecotec engine that produces 260 hp.
    This car has a top speed of 230 km/h and can hit 100 km/h in about 5.7 seconds which is just as quick as a Porsche Boxster.
    This 2009 Opel Gt 2 0 Turbo Roadster is currently for sale at a price of 10'500 euros, you can find out more info here - bit.ly/3eKJC0K

    I loved/hated my sky. Couldn’t find the turbo version down in Florida that wasn’t hundreds of miles away and not automatic. So was lucky enough to find a 2.4 manual. Drove the nuts off of it 😂

    I got the front grill emblem for my Saturn Sky redline, and turned it into a Opal-sky redline !!! Mostly, it looks cool, and confuses people more than usual, as most folks don't know what car even is.

    To be fair this is one of the greatest videos I have seen on the gt...but I am sorry... At the end of the day...Even if you love him ....He definitely is NOT an Opel... But it is as you said... You get a lot for the money.

      Hi Miley-Ray, this car is also called Saturn Sky in (USA & Canada), a GM Daewoo G2X in (South Korea). In Europe which is where I filmed the car it is actually an Opel Gt. Opel GT Roadster to be precise. But I am curious, if you don't think it is an Opel who do you think manufacturers this car?

      It is an Opel

    • @Miley-RayStewart
      @Miley-RayStewart 4 года назад +2

      @@Chris-wb2uk No it is not... (I mean it is but quality wise I do think you have a huge difference to a normal Opel... I was used to having the Astra OPC before and the car was feeling much higher in quality and also felt more sporty. This car is Produced in Detroit..... not Germany... It is the same car-like Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky (exact same Body and I think the Ponti was having a 3-liter engine .. I do not exactly remember anymore ^^)... Opel just puts the eco Tec engine in the car and Brands it... I do own the car myself and buying it this time... I had several problems with it and Opel was not yet allowed to touch it because General Motors (not Opel) did not give permissions to everyone to work on it. Opel employees would need to have a separate learning program to learn about this car because it is NOT an Opel and they needed extra schoolings for this car before they were actually "allowed" to be working on it... 8To be fair this was a bit nasty that time because they had a few recalls because of I think the radio, was it? And one with the keys and I remember I went to Opel and they went like "no we can't do the recall we are sorry but you need to go to a different Opel which already has specially educated workers who are allowed to work on it." (I need to say that this is no more today ^^) But overall I really do love him and I think it is very hard and up to impossible to get the same kind of car in the same price range. (ALso I hate to say it... quality wise.. you really do know it is definitely not an Opel ...But then for the Price, it is a WOWI car..)

      Well, I need to add that I really do love this car and I would not trade it backi ^^ That is just my personal opinion and my experiences over the 11 years that I have him now. I think it is just a bit doof that compared to the OPC for example you do have huge differences in quality (well I know the car is cheap) and in my opinion he is more a "cruiser" or a "roadster" than a sports car. The engine does respond much "slower" than the Astras one and even when the GT really has a lot of Pull for a 2 Liter engine (we had risen ours to about 320HP and I think almost 500nm which is a really realizable difference than to what he was used to) it still is a bit strange he "only" has 5 gears and has a bit of a longer Transmission which in my opinion (for me) feels more like a Roadster than an sporster. For me ...ehm.. Like the Speedster would be a good example of a sporty car. Or the OPC.. I just personally think he is a bit too much ..(I hope this is not mean) "sluggish" (is that a good word?) HE is just responding a bit "slow" but he is absolutely perfect for country road cruising and such things.

      @TwinTurbo Ray Did you drive both ? I have had both and they are not compareable in neither ways. The Astra is an everyday car what also has a lot of space and quality wise IS an Opel (which is what I meant) and it does sound and feel a lot more like a Sports car than the GT is. The "shitty" Gerbox on the astra has 6 gears which felt a lot more "sporty" than the GT does who is a great car but .... I personally see him more as a "crouser" than a sports Car.. If you accelerate it takes time until you can shift again and the RPM and throttle response is "sleepy" compared to that what I was used on the Astra who felt a lot more aggressive. We had mine at around 260-280 HP (I do not exactly remember anymore) and it was still struggleing for traction at 120kmh plus. (which was a bit because he had to much power for front wheels but it was actually funny. And you could look where you wanted it was manufacrued great while the gt ias a moving hood, distances between parts are uneven and and and... That is what I meant with "it is not an opel"... But to be fair I liked both cars and I would still take the GT because even "all of this bad things" with him... He is absolutely "primitive" and that also makes him relyable. (I never had a car that EVER starts.. I mean I have had it so often that the battery was so empty that I could not even roll up my windows at a stop.. I had to start the engine again only for closing my windows because otherwise they were to weak to close- which I think is fascinating). I do know that GM owns open but no it is NOT an opel as the GT is a crossover himself like from GM,Saturn and Pontiac and is builded in Detroit (GM) and from there ready delivered to Opel so it is a GM made car and not out of an Opel branded Factory my dear so it is not an Opel. If it was you could also be naming "Fanta" a "Cola" because both are owned by Coca Cola company.... Or in car words... The Chiron is an VW , right ? It is totally the same as a golf ... Now take place in both , touch things and then repeat that ^^ Look.... what I was trying to say : I love my GT and yes.. "GTáime forever". And yes you get a lot for the money you pay. But what I meant was this also means that the GT is a really cheap car. (cheap does not equal "bad"). But when you drive it after you have had "an Opel" you have a lot Situations which remind you "yes... its an american car...I did not pay the world for it" ... Thats fact.. The Astra felt completely different in any quality. But again... The GT is a really great car and I dont think it is really possible to find a second car NEW in this price with this much power and style.

    Part of GM (General Motor) restructure out of bankruptcy, they had to remodel their products. Saturn, Pontiac, and thus Opel was removed from production. The car is a fantastic car, and didn't get a chance to see its full potential. - Sky Redline owner - (In United States, this car is treasured, hardly driven, garaged, hold its resale value very well, There "was" an annual Kappa meet in US, but because of Covid, it stopped in 2020. Not sure if there will be one this year, 2021.

    You can search for the Saturn Sky\Pontiac Soltice meet in RUclips, under "North America Saturn Sky Annual Meet" (NASSAM), i may have distorted it, unabbreviated. It'll be something like that if wrong.
