I'm 67 y.o. woman of the whole counter culture of Civil Rights, Viet Nam War, & Civil Disobedience era. As such, Simon & Garfunkel spoke 2 me sooo often & especially with The Sounds of Silence. Then I caught Disturbed's version of the song.... WOW! Simply blew my hair back!!! Sorry, Art & Paul, but U've been usurped...this is the most powerful, goosebumpN, tearjerkN renderN of one of the best & most Bloved protest era songs that Art & Paul(or anyone else of the '60's) ever penned. Disturbed hit a BIG bull's-eye with this dauntN, chillN & strong modern version of the song & I suspect that Art & Paul MUST B touched, moved, & proud of the justice U've done 4 their classic composition! Such a beautiful blessN & gift 2 both era's...'1960's & '2020's...our troubles have not really changed much & we ALL need 2 break the prison of social apathy & mass Silence. K8TBeth 💃
I love how the original song was very mellow...and touched us all so deeply. Then comes this version....with such a rough edge, and it touches us all again, just as deeply.
Very well stated Jennifer, I think this one touches us in a very emotional manner, in that we are all much older and have no doubt, endured lifes conflicting experiences, fact that we are still here and able to appreciate such a profound music style, is proof of our ability to evolve and adapt to lifes 'curve balls' without changing who we are........
This is one of my fav songs from S and G but the version overwhelmed my body. I mean I got goose bumps all over, my heart rate increased and my tummy flipped all at the same time. I’m replaying to get that hit again! Glorious. Thank you.

This song has been my favorite since the original came out in 1964....(yes I'm old...lol) but THIS...THIS is how I always envisioned the lyrics SHOULD be sung and the music played. I don't want to take away from Simon & Garfunkel in any way...but the lyrics just evoke the sadness and reverence that Disturbed has honored it with....THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. Thank you, Disturbed. Thank you Simon & Garfunkel.
the sound if silence, more powerful than the words un said, i played this at my youngest brothers funeral, he decided to take his own life at the young age of 18, countless friends that have taken their own life. this song will forever hit home.
Heart breaking. Peace and love. When an intelligent person is faced with crisis, and considering their options, it is an out, a logical response to the absurdity we live in. 18 is so tender, and so packed with change, which is the clinical definition of stress, and yet so little understanding of life outside of their own block. Vulnerable period I think doesn't get enough specific attention. Mental health system, out patient therapy for certain, in general is a farce, it does more harm then good and should be shut down, because that would improve mental health. Christmas prayers to your family and you, Robert. I have a tealight holder which is an Inuit carving in soapstone. It is a sharing circle of 5 people joining hands around the fire. I lit one for your brother, or any souls that may be wandering close by, to have a safe rest. The Inuit have a tradition of stacking flat stones, into the rough shape of a person standing up and pointing, along a route as a marker of the path home, a spirit guide. Which they believe are inhabited by spirits. They are called Inukshuk. (EE-nook-shook). I put one beside the sharing circle, in the light. Best Wishes, friend. Happy Christmas, Peace to All of Us 💖🌏
I love his powerful voice. When he starts hitting those deep metal-like notes, I think on my dad who passed away (he was a huge fan of Disturbed and this cover of the song), and it even makes me tear up. Such a great cover song. They really made it their own thing.

Me too. I share your feelings on the world. Seeing people sad and dead inside almost drained due to this epidemic. It hurts my heart. Good to share my emotions somewhere and why not here after hearing this powerful song.
I still think that this is the most incredible version of this song. I remember the first time I heard it during lock down. Some of the videos were so compelling that it was scary. It still sounds that good today, I think it will live on as long as the world keeps on its current path into darkness
This is my favorite rendition of this song. It reaches something very primal inside me. Pink Floyd lyrics are still very relevant today, too. Ahead of their time.
Amazing arrangement, stunning performance. That a wonderful piece of music could be shapeshifted into such a glorious rendition is pure magic. I'm 75, and will always want to hear this version, with gratitude to Simon & Garfunkel.

Anyone listening to this in November 2023 and crying because humanity has been lost on earth and this song is accurate because the silence is deafening ?
For me, Sound of Silence is about being a single bee in a hive, a single ant in a colony or a single Borg within the collective. It is about being lost in the sounds of thousands of silent thoughts from people that you do not know. It is about frustration with life and living in a city filled with ten thousand people, maybe more, that makes you feel so all alone...
Leave it to Disturbed to shatter my heart into a million pieces with the opening lines "Hello Darkness, my old friend" then instill pride and hope in my soul with the closing lines. Excellent job guys!

You wouldn't believe how many ol timers love this song and can't believe who is singing it......it def stands up with the original
Grips my heart. I watched and listened to this as a single mom in years past...hard times. Had a hard day today. Return to the workforce after the pandemic. I was always looking for work. Today was a hard day.
I love this
God Bless!
May God Bless YOU!
@@shockproof1964 Thanks how’s your day going
Praying for you 🙏
I'm 67 y.o. woman of the whole counter culture of Civil Rights, Viet Nam War, & Civil Disobedience era. Keep writeN, Paul & Art, but more over, keep singN Disturb, keep on singN loud! I truely love U both!! Such a beautiful blessN & gift 2 both era's...'1960's & '2020's...our troubles have not really changed much & we ALL need 2 break the prison of social apathy & mass Silence. K8TBeth 💃
Hello friend 😊,how are you doing today?
Incredible and powerful rendition of one of the most iconic songs. Hell of a voice!!
I love how the original song was very mellow...and touched us all so deeply. Then comes this version....with such a rough edge, and it touches us all again, just as deeply.
Jennifer Reed well said
Jennifer Reed well said dude
Very well stated Jennifer, I think this one touches us in a very emotional manner, in that we are all much older and have no doubt, endured lifes conflicting experiences, fact that we are still here and able to appreciate such a profound music style, is proof of our ability to evolve and adapt to lifes 'curve balls' without changing who we are........
totally agree
seems good songwriting endures
also good vocals are needed too
:)
This is definitely a good example of how you cover a song right. Breathes new life into the lyrics and makes it live for another generation.

Well said

This song has been always a good song until this. Perfect song!
Amen this gets into your soul.
This is truth. Maybe more...
the sound if silence, more powerful than the words un said, i played this at my youngest brothers funeral, he decided to take his own life at the young age of 18, countless friends that have taken their own life. this song will forever hit home.
I had this at my partners funeral no one was allowed to leave to crem until this had finished playing x
I'm so sorry
Or vietnam veterans from mi lai this fits perfectly and im so sorry for your loss
very sorry to hear... condolences from Slovakia.... As a complete stranger to you or your family, may I ask why? With all the possible respect...
Happy Christmas,
Peace to All of Us

I had this song played at my 21 yr. Old son's funeral. He introduced it to me and I fell in love with it.
May he rest in peace ❤️
sorry for ur loss
F
Sue Goff So sorry for your loss. Thought you might want to know (if you didn't already) that Paul Simon was 21 when he wrote this song.
I know ur pain & am so sorry for ur loss. Lost my daughter 3 months after she turned 21..5 years in March. Raising two beautiful granddaughters.
No one can do that song besides Simon and Garfunkle EXCEPT for this recording. So raw. Thank you Disturbed
Hello friend 😊,how are you doing today?
I still can't believe how GREAT this cover is!!!!
I saw what they saw the truth, it's all be ess e

Better than the original🔥🙏❤
It’s utterly amazing
This song is a song that I've known ever since someone wrote it but hearing this come from him is just a miracle man
It was written by Simon and Garfunkel in 1963...the year I was graduated from high school.
I love Disturbed and this cover is phenomenal!!!!
Davidd you sang this perfectly
I love his powerful voice. When he starts hitting those deep metal-like notes, I think on my dad who passed away (he was a huge fan of Disturbed and this cover of the song), and it even makes me tear up.
Such a great cover song. They really made it their own thing.
"Hello darkness my old friend..."
One of the best cover versions ever, in my opinion.👍
I just can't get enough of this version ....chills every time.
The absolute best ever version. I loved Simon and Garfunkel, but your passion just surpasses it. Can't stop watching it. I am 69 years, but you stir up feelings (cut it out, not like that). Just a feeling of energy I guess. k Thank you
Susie
Hello friend 😊,how are you doing today?
complètement d'accord, j'ai 58 ans et cette version me remplie d'énergie quand mon moral n'est pas super. Je peux l'écouter 3 fois de suite, je l'adore
How clearly this message has carried over the decades. As a child of the 60's I deeply appreciate that music's passion is still alive
God loves you ❤️
This song actually touches my soul, it's the absolute truth and it's very sad the way the world is

Me too. I share your feelings on the world. Seeing people sad and dead inside almost drained due to this epidemic. It hurts my heart. Good to share my emotions somewhere and why not here after hearing this powerful song.

That is an outstanding rendition of Sounds of Silence. Bravo, deeply moving.
I like the slower tempo of this arrangement. But for me, the harmony was always what made the originally so amazing. I miss that here.
What a way to make the darkness soothing ,with rasp, gravel and sheer emotive power. just DOWN RIGHT WOW!!

Greetings from Belgium this song makes me have tears of joy I keep listening to it over and over again.❤️❤️❤️
Maybe the best cover ... ever. Brilliant key change, orchestration. And that voice!
I'm 75, and will always want to hear this version, with gratitude to Simon & Garfunkel.
i dont usually like covers, i grew up on the original.. and love it.. but i find this version very moving, very dark, very powerful.. i love it.
Legocid
I think this version exceeds the original. It's not quite as silent as the original but definitely captures the power. Really love it!
Boy, Exactly, it absolutely exceeds the original.
Dam cool I'm not alone in 2020 omg oof your comment was today hello :D
This is beautiful. I don't understand why I got bullied once for this. MASTERPIECE, I tell you!
This version is full of tension, one can hear and feel a certain despair...It is very strong ! I love it !!
this song written in the 60s is becoming more and more true in the world we live in today
The song was written for two-part harmony, not for growling and bellowing.
Thank you very mutch
Resents Thank you for the Like
Sehr Sehr gerne Nix zu Danken Danke Für die Likes
MY GOD I'VE HEARD HIM SING THIS A THOUSAND TIMES, N I APPRECIATE HIS PERMORANCE MORE & MORE EACH TIME I HEAR HIM. U R THE SOLEMN MAJESTY OF SOUL & FEELING. U R THE BEST.
The conviction in his voice when he sings this is deeply emotive and evokes the very depth of our own emotions x
Stup or not
Mi hijo Erick en coma en este momento pero siempre la escuchaba y ahora que se la pongo me percató que le escurren sus lágrimas cuando la escucha😊😊 la ESCUCHA ❤🙏
It’s amazing how someone can be so angelic yet so demonic with their voice.
I can really think of only one voice on a par...that of Ronnie James Dio
This is like my 26th time watching this today. I love the music. I love the lesson. People need to recognize this
It's almost impossible to improve Simon and Garfunkel, but here we are
Inspiring
Indeed!
Here we are... hmmmm
Enjoy your live 😊
Anyone listening to this in November 2023 and crying because humanity has been lost on earth and this song is accurate because the silence is deafening ?
December 2023, humanity is again at the crossroads. Will we choose to save our species or will we let complacency destroy our chance to survive?
@@NanaBren hi! 👊💥💯
And it was written by Paul Simon in 1963 based on a dream and humans becoming enslaved by technology and not thinking or engaging with each other.
@@susandoc1739 wow Paul predicted the future then as he predicted our current society :o

I was never really a fan of the original, but this cover made me love the song
With David's voice and inflection, I feel the angst and urgency of the words. Thank you for breathing new life in this poignant song.
This is so rad! The last great metal singer. R.I.p. Chris cornell
Hello friend 😊,how are you doing today?
Ich habe Gänsehaut pur... Was für eine Stimme... Und: So viel Gefühl und Power. Ich bin soeben Fan geworden!❤❤❤
Good summary mate. Well thought.
To me, it feels like it should be dedicated to all the trafficked and abused children. 'The sound of silence'.
Simply intense, gives me goosebumps, love it!
Lol Me too. whenever I am listening to it goosebumps cover all my body!
I’m a 43 year old man and have probably heard this song 2000 times. And if I don’t cry I come close to it every time. Best remake of a song ever.
A strange species, so brutal but can produce something as profound as to move our very essence. May we all live long and prosper.
Beautifully put; thanks.
