When the narrator was describing James' dessert I lost it 😂🤣 "A child's picture of a face with a biscuit in it's mouth." Also when Julie arrived one night and he said she was a "part-time car alarm." Mannn, I love this show!!
Julie and Phil were fantastic, I love how hyped and eccentric they were. James was super sweet too! Paula was absolutely bonkers, and she was sooo creepy towards James
Lovely to see an episode where the contestants are not at each other's throats. Take note 'producers'! We don't always want to see people at each other's throats. A week of convivial conversation and company is also very rewarding to us viewers!
Well that was fun! James was a nice chap but I was surprised to find myself warming to Julie (the American) as, despite being condemned as 'loud', she seemed very together and fun! Gosh what is the world coming to?
come dine with me... One of my most most favourite episode.. Excellent show, absolutely love it.. Is my most favourite show.. Just love it..♥️♥️♥️ I just love evey episodes...
Not typical American!! I'm American...from South Louisiana...I have an allergy to loud people...and I have never had or made any American food that looks like that! If I ever go to Oklahoma...I will bring bag lunches...wont be eating from that state! Julie though, seems super nice and like tons of fun!!! Paula though...lawwwd!!!!😓
Of course they aren't going to pick typical Americans. Besides the low number of American ex-pats that apply for a British cooking show, the show only wants interesting or different people. No one would watch a show where all the contestants were boring plain Joes and Janes. Do you really think all women from Trinidad are as thirsty as Paula? Or all DJs are such goofy Dads? Don't forget the posh eyecandy. It's a TV show not an average representation of any demographic.
Jeaux ~ you "gotta" know that Julie is NOT typical of us all. I found her to be a sweet gal for the most part. And, take it from one who visits Oklahoma often & has lived in Louisiana (Shreveport), there is no difference in the mix of folks one finds in either area. Also, same thing for food, so don't brown bag it! LOL
Julie did not sound like she was from Oklahoma. She sounded more mid western to me. There were a few times she seemed to lay on a thicker accent, but it seemed more of an act. Her food seemed more mid western as well. At the end of the day this is just a reality tv show and people can choose to be whatever they want or however over the top or underwhelming they want to be 😂
Not everyone from the US gives into their colloquial accent. It's possible to keep it to the neutral American accent. Think of a National US newscaster.
Oklahoma's like every other state in the Union: they've got city people and country people. Folks in the country have rural accents, people in the city don't.
Paula is comical...Soooo many hater's for her...James could have told her to back off politely, but never did...Could have been lapping the advances up, is what I saw...The American woman was loud, but felt Paula stole the limelight, from her...Your score Paula, was below the belt!
For anyone actually interested, funeral potatoes are a dish from the Amish/Mennonite communities in America. Maybe someone with more knowledge can elaborate.
Speaking as a true Yankee, that is to say, a person born and bred in the Northeast US, Julie is not a typical American. She's not unusual, but definitely in a specialty category. I thought she was adorable and I'd hang out with her. Yes, she's quite vocal, but I've heard worse. Also in a specialty category are Funeral Potatoes. They're almost unknown in most of Yankee. One hears of them from the Midwest. A Scots RUclipsr made a comment in one of his videos that took me aback. He said he found it odd that every state in the US was separate, different, and had a unique culture. He's right. You could have one person from each state on this show and everyone would prepare their version of American food, according to their ethnicity, state, or region. This is normal to us and I assumed it was normal in other countries. Color me wrong. This is exactly why there is no such creature as a Typical American and no such thing as typical American Food. My menu would have nothing in common with Julie's or any of the other Americans shown in this program. I can tell where they're from by their accents and their food. It was a good episode, all in all.Julie, James and Phil were lovely - whatshername was revolting.
Even in the same state, regional differences are extreme. I saw a video on RUclips where every state's food was represented by a dish. My state was misrepresented with toasted raviolis! Missouri was the Gateway to the West, a frontier state and 9/10 of the state is rural. A good representation of us would be fried catfish, beans and cornbread, barbecue & biscuits, not f*cking toasted ravioli from St Louis, which is practically in Illinois! Has anyone ever even made that at home from scratch? Fucking toasted ravioli! I guess they're that lame up in St. Louis 🙄 Edit: never heard of funeral potatoes 🥔
I wondered too. Wouldn't she be humiliated to be seen panting like an animal at a young disinterested man & acting like ... I don't even know what, but it's gross.
These contestants were all told to play up certain parts of their personalities. Julie was obviously told to play up being the boisterous American, Paula played up with seductress, James played up the British gentleman and Phil played up the everyday bloke to make the episode more interesting.
I'm an American...I'm not loud...I've never eaten or heard of funeral potatoes....I dislike sweet sauces on savory foods...Given the vastness of the United States you will find many different regional cuisines....Julie is from the Midwest so perhaps those foods are what she grew up eating....I recall many over the top, loud and impolite hosts and guests that were natives.....
Julie is Julie, not to be compared to every American, thank you. Haha! She is specifically from Oklahoma...You get some one like me from California you get more laid back, and healthier food that would be Mexican, Mediterranean or Asian influenced. Also, she should have served the pie with home made whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. :)
@@dashroodle9507 yeah, Californians are so laid-back, they won't even enforce their own laws. They've got streets full of drug addicts, crazy people, criminals and illegal immigrants. People are fleeing the state in the hundred thousands. For the first time in it's history, California is losing, instead of gaining people, because conditions are so bad. Besides those troubles, CA taxes are extortionate; somebody has to pay for all those benefits for illegal aliens! Regulations & restrictions are so numerous that it's almost impossible to build new houses for profit - so there's a housing shortage, and regulations are so extreme for businesses that owners are just moving to other states where laws aren't so restrictive & they can hire & fire at will, & pay less tax among other things. Joe Rogan did, moved to Austin Tx.
As an American, I gotta say, Julie was definitely advised to be as cartoonish as possible. And James was definitely enjoying the attention. Everyone's complaining about Paula, but James was definitely encouraging the behavior... I'm an American and I am not an America fan lol.
I really wish all Brits wouldn't immediately think ALL Americans are loud. I'm so quiet you have to ask to me speak up, I can't stand loud people and Julie would drive me crazy. There is nothing worse than a loud woman, men can get away with it much better but I prefer quieter people.
Psychologically speaking, some say that women who deliberately speak very quietly are trying to command attention since one has to concentrate to hear what a quiet speaker is saying. Attention seeking behaviour.

I couldn’t stop saying ‘Oh Gawwwwwd’ while rolling my eyes back in my head every time Paula spoke. To James. Only James 🙄
Paula's losing face scared the bejeebers out of me - I thought there was going to be trouble.
@2:21 As a fellow American I must interject. No, it is YOU that is a lot louder!!! Bless your heart.
I mean, for a cooking competition James really was a dish…..

Paula is terrifying omg.
Run, James, RUN!.
Wow mango for breakfast every day! I'd go for that but the budget says stick with my oatmeal 😂
Paula's behaviour was disgusting

Dave Lamb cracks me up
Same. But your surname cracked me up more
I feel a bit sorry for Paula. I doubt she really understands why she gets the kind of response she creates.
But that said, she is one scary lady !!
When the screen went black i thought my phone died 😂
Lol. It happens with some channels. Been there before, or I'd have been cursing my coverage. It's appalling.

Love this show, just love it, thank you very much for posting, greatly appreciated.
Oy, Paula. She really made me cringe.
So so thirsty what was that ?😮
She was scary and scored strategically. But she was scary and I don’t know how she will find her ‘match’…. Ok, I’ll see myself out again….🤣🤣🤣
Extremely cringe. Rude. Awkward and gross.

The Narrator made me feel alot less uncomfortable while watching the show with Paula in it 😤

Please know that is not how all Trinidadian women behave. Paula is acting a bit desperate.
Dont blame her for fancying James but jesus, Paula!!😂😂
