As a disc golfer I just want to say, none of us ever want to populate our bodies of water with plastic. This is one of the worst experiences one of us could ever have on the course. Each disc is unique and has a reason to be in our bags, and losing one in the drink makes our day worse. We don't want to lose the disc and we DEFINITELY do not want to leave plastics in the enviroments we love to play in. In most cases, we'll do whatever it takes to get the discs back, but sometimes it's just not possible. Thank you to these divers for doing what we couldn't.
I've stripped down and taken a swim for a disc many times, some successful some not, and I bet a lot of Disc golfers have. As Dan says, we really don't want to litter and we love our discs. Good job boys.
As an avid disc golfer and disc collector, you did your due diligence. In the future I personally would not be offended if I lost a disc and you kept it with your efforts and sold it. Usually we carry ‘water discs’ if we are playing a heavily watered course, we will throw discs we don’t mind losing.. but yeah I would just take them all to a ‘play it again store’ and sell them all as is, save your time. But I would give them a nice clean w/ dish soap first, as you have done! Thanks 😊

@@29HanburyStreet buddy relax. It's not like anyone is intentionally throwing the discs in the water. I lost the first disc I ever bought over 10 years ago in that quarry, so I know it's likely a long shot at this point but if you still have any of the discs from this trip I'd be very interested to know! Do you ask for a tip when contacting the numbers on the lost discs? I remember a guy asked for $5, I didn't ask if he required it but I was happy to do it. It's insane how many discs you pulled out of there
This is insane! Is this like a 400 foot water carry hole with the tee pad on one shore and the basket on the opposite shore?? I just can’t comprehend how SO many discs ended up in that water. I really want to see the hole layout
Looking at the course map on UDisc makes it even stranger lol. None of the holes require throwing over the water, and only one hole has you throwing in the direction of the pond. I have no idea how so many discs could have ended up there 🤣
This is a home course of mine. There are two holes the run along the water. Hole 16 has a tree in the middle of the fairway that if you hit it with a backhand shot you kick way out into the water. It drops off quick from the shore so anything off the side is a goner. Hope this helps

Really cool, so many bad throws and overconfident players we have! ;D Stinky discs fly great btw! It is good to retrieve these as to use them or recyle them instead of creating new from virgin plastic which is the thing we want to reduce creating. But don't get panicked by this, they are not exactly dangerous to nature, small small parts of plastic is not good for animals living long and on top of that animals lived long getting eaten by carnivores living long and so on upping the damage inside of the animals... but these big chunks won't really harm nature just never be a part of the ecosystem in a loooooooong time. To sum up; We want to reuse and recycle, them impact is OK except the creating of new discs. Don't waste good plastic to create new that is bad.
Maybe a hot take, but we should stop building courses around water. The risk of losing discs in the drink is just unnecessary and does nothing to improve the experience on the course. "It's just plastic", but even that haul from the pond cost the owners like $5000+ combined. That's a lot of money to just throw away because the course has a water hazard.
It looks like the disc golf players of that course need to take up something less physically challenging, like video games or maybe shuffleboard, but stay away from darts, archery, or marksmanship!
