I live in Oregon and have been a river keeper tor about eight years now. I use my kayak with multiple tools to recover lures and line along with the other items lost on the rivers. I could fill a 55 gallon drum with fishing line and have atleast 40 lbs in lead. I've collected over a thousand bobbers and thousands of lures.
Ed, you are an inspiration. This is an amazing hobby that both gets you diving and do something positive for the environment. I’m gonna have to take lessons now. this is too cool.
Hello, I'm French 👋🇨🇵 I admire your depollution work, in France we have a lot of waste plastic pollution, my dream is to find so many fishing lures. You just gained a subscriber. Peter 👍
good one Ed, well done. I mainly go for the lead weights and scrap that, good coin for lead at the moment. I have moved 2 ton of lead from one spot as well as lures and rings and things. That fishing line does hold an enormous amount of stuff and it continues to add everyday. Cheers Ed
@@EdtheDiver Absolutely. I admire what you do. There are some spots along the Wisconsin River here that are rocky like Voyageur Park and popular with walleye fishermen. I've snagged into lines and old lures many times. I'm sure it's loaded with all kinds of tackle too. No zebra mussels there, at least for now.
New follower here from southern wisconsin. When can I expect to see some new videos? I think i literally just watched 2 hours of your videos lol. This video was awesome. Thanks for your hard work keeping the earth a cleaner place. 3/4/23
I fish the fox channel between Little lake butte des morts and winnebago. Any chance you could do a dive here? We lose fishing stuff all the time in front of the fishing dock. Always joked about doing something like this. Didn't know ppl did until I saw an article in the paper about you! Great work!
@@EdtheDiver I'm a divemaster here it Green Bay and we taught the GBFD dive team. there in pool sessions were done with blacked out masks to mimic the fox river. everything was done by touch.
Thanks for the offer! You can go there anytime you want, but I am always on a tight schedule and just go whenever. I have diving buddies come with me at times, but most of the stuff I do doesn’t really need an extra person. With low viz diving, you can’t see your diving buddy, and if you can….they’re kicking ya! 🤣
I would love to do this but we don’t have enough money right now. Now I’m a fisher man my self and would love to find all those lures and that would be my dream to have that many love u man ❤️
Only thing i'd like to see added to all of your videos is at the end i'd like to see the cleaned up lures / anchors along with your guesstimate as to how much $ you made. I know you've done it on some of the videos, but i'd really like to see it more often..... otherwise, great videos! Often wondered, do you repaint the lures that need it or just trash them?
I used to do that, but I’ve been SO busy with everything, that I don’t have the time. I need help!! I just started painting the bad lures. Keep an eye out for the videos. 😁
Another great video Ed. Have you ever tried using a small inflatable? It could hold more and is less likely to tip over. Thanks for what you do, and for sharing it 😉

You should start selling the lures that are in decent condition just do like mystery packs of 10 for $20 +shipping or something would be a good way of getting some people cheap lures recycling and saving people having to pollute the world with more lost lures

my grandpa's lake anchor was a old coffee can filled w/ concrete. we used it til the 80's, so 67-80's. no snags.

I was in De Pere, WI part of the Fox River.
