"Don't go there, very dangerous. A lot of cartel activity" - Mexico 🇲🇽 |S6-E90|

  • In this episode I get valuable information that I shouldn't ride my planned route through Zacatecas in Mexico because it's a very dangerous area. That means that instead of 400 kilometers of roads through the mountains, I have to ride 600 kilometers over the highway to avoid this area. Will I even make that in one day on a CRF300Rally?

We (my 87 year old Mom and I) just love your adventures, Mom will often say out loud as we are watching, "Be careful Itchy!" Mom worries so much about you, very sweet and motherly. We yearn for each new upload episode, we get very excited knowing we can catch up to our girl's adventures. I want to thank you for your including scenes of your meals, we would prefer to see more because it gives us a bit more insight into the regional eating options you find, we just love that aspect of your travels. Food is such a important and fun part of our travels as well and we love and thank you for incorporating footage of your food experiences. Thank you for enriching our lives Itchy. often the questioning is rapid fire to try to trip you up if you have a false story. The bike being so new doesn't really look like it's been around the world hence the further questions. In previous episodes, the cops did the same and went on about tires and stuff. I'm sure there is also curiosity, but they are also trying to sus out the truth.

I'm boring. I went to work, (didn't cut the lawn) and watched a few itchy boots videos (Ecuador). The main roads, here, provided some great backgrounds footage of that part of Mexico. It also gave some insights into the people going about their daily business. Life can't be all mountains! Maybe you can write an 'interesting' cafe guide during your journeys.

You suggest this may be a "little bit boring." Not at all! Highlights: "maybe I'm a little too Dutch for these things," "I think I just had lunch in a restaurant disguised as a brothel, or maybe it's the other way around," cobblestone roads, high desert plateau prickling with cacti, a friendly and curious soldier asking if you aren't the one who posts travel videos, while another soldier stands at the ready with an assault rifle. This is all part of the journey. Every day can't be a ride with stunning views or turquoise pools in a jungle river; some days we just make time, and that's fine. I like her videos for all of her "traveling," covering so much distance and rural scenery that most people, tourists and Mexicans alike, never see. But I also like YOUR style of traveling, where you actually took the time to EXPLORE and ENJOY some of the sights and sounds that some people are ALREADY somewhat familiar with. Either way, you each have your own, unique style of traveling/"sightseeing." You both have seen how big our country is. Not as vast as Canada, but with as much to see as Holland or Ukraine. I hope you and Noraly both return to our country someday and explore MORE places, with MORE time, and with more "hidden, little treasures" to find and enjoy! Cheers to all our brothers and sisters in The Great White North!
