I am admittedly VERY critical of builds, as I have high standards and so many times one sees poorly executed stuff celebrated online... but this is really impressive! If I still had my custom shop I'd be begging you to join our team. Not only was your build well thought out, your own criticisms of your work show an open mind and that you learn as you go. I've got a 5'x10" aluminum trailer I hadn't planned to make into a mini camper, but your project has me really thinking that now I should. Great job, you rock!
TheWormzerjr Down below she mentions teardrop build forums and "benroy free plans" www.google.com.mx/search?client=opera&q=benroy+free+plans+&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 Google makes all things possible.
Thank you all so much! If you want a 5 year update let me know and I will try to get a video together! I have taken her on several awesome adventures : ) and she is still awesome!
Yes, that would be great! What an awesome little camper, just watched your build video, very well done! Happy that you’ve been able to go on lots of adventures! Take care! :)
I am soooo impressed. I think I love you and if you are looking for a slightly overweight, middle aged broke father of two kids still at home......this could be your lucky day!
You are way awesome. I have some granddaughters that think that women don't do certain things. Your video here will inspire them to think with no barriers. Thank you so very much.
I really do admire the professional work you did on your build! I think I need to do what you did and search for "poor man's fiberglass on some of the TD sites to see if there is a good explanation of how it is done. I do agree with you and will purchase my doors and will start looking for a skylight window. I figure that if a young lady like yourself with a pacemaker can do this well certainly a 77 year old geazer ought to be able to to it as well. And fortunately the weather in the Houston area is not as hot as Arizona! It will take me a little longer as I have slowed down. I have read every comment posted and your replies. So I have most of the ideas in my head. But will start putting notes down in a notebook. I think that the canvas idea definitely helps withe weight solution. Thanks and I look forward to your next TD!
There is a difference between a person who puts just enough work in to get things done vs a trades person, often the level of work is enough to distinguish the two. This level of work done and the overall outcome of the product proves that you did it the right way and put the skill and patience in. A true definition of a trades person is seen through this video, even if this was a one off and you won't make another one for a long time if ever at all. This is excellent work and such a joy to see for numerous reasons. Hope this tear drop sees many adventures and you get as much fun and joy out of it as it was to design and making it yours.
Risin' up, wheels on the street, Put in her time, took her chances. Tows the distance, uses tripod feet, Just a woman and her build will survive! So many builds, happen too fast, Your skill, your passion, your glory. Switch on the fan, out in the heat Cook outside, when your hungry. Turn up the Pioneer, play Survivor on the street, Just a woman and her build will survive! And the last known survivor watching Xī Fāng Bái Hǔ in the night And she's watchin' the stars with the eye ... of the tigerrr!!!
This is a fantastic build. Lots of innovative ideas. Great work on the exterior design & paint. I love the ideas you had for the cooking area like the slide outs, and the rotating stereo. I'm a very large man, so a tear drop is really not my size, but if i were in the market for one, I want one just like this. Congrats on a great project.
Wow this is an amazing build. I am rebuilding a home-built teardrop with over 90,000 miles on it. The exterior is only painted plywood. The PMF will give this baby new life. Thanks for the inspiration.
WOW!!! I shouldn’t be saying this but I am seriously impressed by this build and the fact you built it yourself!!! Probably the best build I have seen yet! Love the lazy Suzan stereo and your kitchen set up. Well done!!! I consider myself a handy guy and building this for me would be doable but definitely a challenge!!!
Hey, just ran across this today. I'm a carpentry teacher from Iowa and I'm showing this to my students today, mainly because of the courage it took to tackle such a complex project. Nicely done. I wish I had a dozen women like you to teach every year.
It's just fabric wallpaper somebody started calling it poor man's fiberglass it's been around a long time boats and wooden structures covered by cloth with lead paint used to be a common sight
I LOVE your trailer. I have been staring at a lot of videos of teardrops both professionally and amateur (amateurly?) made. Especially of the DIY builds, yours is my favorite. I am inspired to some day make my own, when I get the space, tools and money. Your trailer touches on all the points I've been looking for. Big points for me is your BIG flip up kitchen door, by putting the hinge way up on the curve, the door just flips up that much higher; I'm a tall guy. I love how your cabinet door is actually a swing out shelf for your stove. The pull out sink is great. The turntable stereo is a stroke of genius. Seeing your trailer, I really want to copy it--if you don't mind sharing the blueprints. Question: your explanation of the walls was kind of muffled. Did you say it's made of canvas?? If you had to do it again, would you still use the same method for fabricating the walls?
Thank you for the feedback. The basic shape is from the free ben roy plans (google). And yes! the skin is canvas and I love it!! Canvas, titebondII and paint. Airplanes and boats used to be made this way. It is beautiful and very effective.
Wow!!!! very impressive! I live in Gilbert and have been toying with the idea of Micro and tiny home structures. I am glad to know that the weather issue can be dealt with on a fairly easy basis! Awesome job :-)
All I can say is Wow!, poor mans fiberglass, stereo on a built in lazy susan, try fold rock guard, custom and quality through out. Great build and thanks for sharing it with all of us.
The best teardrop build video I've seen. Love the attention to detail in the design. I'm amazed with the result you achieved with the canvas. You have got to be very proud of your achievement. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make and post this video.
You rock girlfriend and so does your tear drop camper. A+!!! Your the type of individual I would hope to encounter in one of these state or national parks someday in my own teardrop. Happy, healthy traveling.
I would buy a really large tarp with a reflective silver coated side and a dark reverse side to put over the camper like a tent configuration. Shinny side out in summer heat to reflect and reverse in fall to attract the suns heat rays.
I am totally impressed. I have a trailer that I've stripped and replaced the wheels and axle and have been trying to come up with a plan to build something out of it. You've inspired me, thanks.
She really includes everything. You did some of the harder things like the curved door ect..Very nice build it looks professional.I wouldn't know how to do it or I would.
Andrew Rouse And there's no need to permanently attach the solar panel. A lot of Australian teardrops simply have the solar panel on a tripod that they set up outside the door.
This such a great build this young women is very gifted in building and design. You know it's looks good when it looks factor made. The camper definitely doesn't look like a DIY project. This is by far the best DIY tear drop camper I've seen. Except mayber her other small tear drop camper. She custom built a camper for a man tow with his vintage Vespa Scooter. She built a tear drop camper from foam board. It even looks like a real vintage Vespa Tear Drop Camper. it's a Great looking motorcycle camper. People need to watch the video on her channel of the whole build and finished product. I'm actually looking for a motorcycle camper now or to DIY a small tear drop for my HD. I love her costum built design vintage style tear drop camper I just don't think my DIY skills are up to par but she has a video showing how she did it all... Your one fantastically fabulous designer and builder... I love this camper too they are both wonderful I like the little extra room ans storage in this one.... Question: What is the weight of this camper??? Keep building you're Fabulously talented.
Really nice build, how does it tow behind the Outback? i'm asking because i have the same car and want to do a similar build (as soon as i can find a place to build mine)
Acrylic paint does not seal against water, however, a sealer on the final coat of a Poly-crylic would be close. After using them once in a bathroom over a faux finish, I could not believe how well the coating managed in high humidity after many years. The water based polys have come a long way since- of course, many floors are done with them now. Amazingly hard and durable- I would highly recommend them.
This is absolutely stunning fantastic job small upgrade idea maybe imagine a small projector screen for nice rainy day pass time 🤔 idk if it was me I'd probably just watch the rain coming down on the skylight lol
That would be nice! I have spent several rainy days enjoying a good book and the sounds of the rain... while also whining about the hikes I was missing that day!
What a very nice Tear Drop . Beautiful first effort . Love the canvas . I'm thinking about making my own . I've been a RN for 20 + years and never have seen a urinal holder . Life is full of surprises . I appreciate your video and the tips you've shared .
Absolutely outstanding dear , first rate and well done ,obviously you are a very switched on thinking woman .You have put a lot of thought into your design / build . Great stuff .
Your trailer has to be the most professionally built looking units I've ever seen! Killer job. I was looking at teardrops and have a Casita now but I love the thought and detail you put into this rig! Camp On 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
I like the layout of your kitchen area, Well done maximizing the limited area for the sink and stove. I am building my micro-camping trailer and trying different layouts for the sink, stove and Coleman power-chill cooler to get it all to fit. I might go with your layout. nice job..
I'm finding there are MANY different ways to build a teardrop, but YOURS is by far the sweetest. I am struggling with the wiring issue... I've never done that. I was also interested in seeing how you stretched the canvas around corners, etc. for the fiberglass application. Have you started another teardrop yet? I'll follow anything you put up! Thanks!
Fantastic build! love the canvas idea, I'll bet it's a lot cooler than the tin also. I've been thinking about a camper van, but your teardrop has inspired me! Thank you for sharing your gifts! Great Video!
great job ! one suggestion, either use a gel cell battery or put in two vents to exhaust the battery fumes. ( one at the top , one at the bottom ) the gel cell is by far the better option, no fumes, no acid, no problems.

I was shocked that this is not a professionally made trailer, KUDOS!! 👍

Very nice camper! If you hadn't said you worked in a hospital, I would have guessed an engineer or carpenter. You have some killer building skills.
Todd J. Thank you! I have a lot of hobbies :)
"YOU" built that yourself..?!?! You're awesome...!!!
Yep! Thank you!
This is incredibly cute and honestly a lot nicer than a lot of commercial made tear drops I've seen lol! So cute.
best home built I have seen yet ... I am majorly impressed

Impressive effort for a one person build
Lazy Susan on the stereo, tripod leg stove support, urinal holder for the propane tank! Awesome DIY Camper!! Great Job
This skyrocketed to the top of my favorite teardrops list. Sweet build.

one of the best builds that ive seen .
This is one of the top 5 or 10 home built teardrop trailers on RUclips. Really a nice build.
Thank you!
A+ on your build. I'm thinking of going with a canvas outside layer too when I build.

great job, love the exterior and the window on the front. so many great ideas.
Brilliant and beautiful design and a real quality build. Looks like a showroom unit from a high-end dealer! Wow.

Really well presented. Great job on design, build and video. I hope you have a lot of great trips with your camper.
Wow that's impressive. A lot of thought went into that build. It's nicer than any commercially made teardrop I've ever seen. Thumbs up!
George Reed Thank you!
So impressed. Looks like it was absolutely done by a factory.^^
Thank you!
I know I am kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new series online ?
I would buy a really large tarp with a reflective silver coated side and a dark reverse side to put over the camper like a tent configuration. Shinny side out in summer heat to reflect and reverse in fall to attract the suns heat rays.
Great job, looks fantastic.
Ive been watching tours of $80,000 fifth wheels and yours was the best tour yet!!!!!! :)
One very nice little camper. Congratulations on the build. I hope you have had many of summer fun. Good day
WOW! Very nice! I have never heard of poor man's fiberglass. So jealous!
D Hicks thank you!
I'm sure everyone would love to see a vid on the construction process you did. Beautiful job!
I am totally impressed. I have a trailer that I've stripped and replaced the wheels and axle and have been trying to come up with a plan to build something out of it. You've inspired me, thanks.
Very nice Trailer, I like that fake stone divider.

Thank you!
Nice work! I would like to know more about the canvas construction method.
I watched this when it was first released and again just now. Still impressed. Way awesome.
Warren Postma Thank you so much!
Holy fuck, your fucking talented.
Absolutely beautiful teardrop. The only things I would add are a solar panel or two and a seven pin trailer jack so you've always got power options.
Andrew Rouse And there's no need to permanently attach the solar panel. A lot of Australian teardrops simply have the solar panel on a tripod that they set up outside the door.
Could you plz explain the canvas technique some more?
Love your trailer. Great job!

Keep building you're Fabulously talented.
Thank you so much! This one is just under 1000 lbs and the vespa one is 170lbs
great build!! I'm totally stealing a couple of ideas from you. ;-)
The radio turntable is a great idea ! Very nice project ! Everyone should have one of these ! 👍
Thank you!
Really nice build, how does it tow behind the Outback? i'm asking because i have the same car and want to do a similar build (as soon as i can find a place to build mine)

Awesome teardrop! Love the design. Wondering how much the project cost?
i have $3800 into it
I have driven the old apache lake road and if they trailer made it up there that is a testament to your craftsmanship! Bravo🎉
Thank you! It is a heck of a drive!
You are so smart! If you don't design for a living, you should.
Thank you!
Excellent job. Very well thought out. That camper is better than what most factories would build.
Thank you so much!
The music at the end... YES!!!! Ha ha ha!! This camper totally rocks. You did a phenomenal job! Wow!!!!! I'm sooooo inspired.
+Kelly S Thanks!
You did an amazing job! My wife and I built ours over last winter and spent all spring, summer, and fall enjoying it. Nice work! LOVE the stereo!
