My uncle Ed, who turned 84 today ( 2/2/23), built something like that in the late 50s out of a '32 Ford. It had an early Hemi in it and regular bias ply street tires. He ran it at Westhampton a few times but soon sold it because he said it was more fun building it than racing it.

The kid knows what he's doing. He actually rotated the tire. I have to do that all the time to hook tractor attachments up. Its so much easier than trying to push a big ole John Deer frontend loader

carb set here's how remove the vac advance hose plug the vac side Put the emergency brake on put in gear, set each idle valve as high pitch can go may take couple times then plug in vac advance- set timing put # 1 piston TDC on fire stroke remove the distributor cap remove the distributor put back in until have on # 1 Spark plug Old School modern cars have electronic ignition, EGR if standard pull largest vac hose highest on vac gauge like the rod not the hesitate glad fellows got the thing going instead of setting around
That is a car you could be tinkering with for the rest of your life. There is aways an improvement, always something that will need fixing, and once you go racing... oh boy then the fun really starts. Drive it like you stole it... it is meant to go right to the limit and break, that's when you know what needs to be done to make it better. But it is all there, it works, it makes noise and spins the wheels... and you will be the envy of everyone driving a standard factory tin box.

When I was 16 and living on the farm, I built something like this. Slingshot dragster frame, pinto motor, 4 speed and a pontac posi track rear.i learned a lot. Driveshaft was 18".
should get it all tuned up runing good and see what it does at the texas mile, doest matter , you got a dragster that was someones dream to build get it finshed and have fun with it
Is this Big Als toy box? for those who don't know big Al's toy box he sells a lot of blown engines and naturally aspirated engines if this is the same guy. And he's been in the business for years and years. And don't worry he has Chevy Ford and Dodge the last time I was on the website.
Now that's poor boy looks like drive shaft ,wishbones, a T.V tower welded with coat hangers. Next time you have a leaky tank use J B. Quick weld and 1st coat rub it in the hole back n forth after that's dry sand it then put 2nd coat thick.
check ignition timing, sounds off. Change plugs wires and cap/rotor and rebuild the carb also make sure lifters are not sticking. That is a cool project.

It sounds a tad rough but that’s expected considering how long it’s been sitting. I would the power plant out break it down freshen it up a bit new carb gaskets seals just a good face lift and I bet it will set back in that seat
I use steel reinforced rubber valve cover gaskets, and valve cover studs instead of bolts. The rubber gaskets are re-usable, and studs keep the gasket aligned while you're securing the valve cover. On top of that, I never use the stamped steel valve covers because I an never get them to seal evenly. Instead I use cast aluminum covers. You can find vintage aluminum covers (M/T, Edelbrock, etc) at swap meets if that's your thing.

Yeah Those wheel things are awesome! The engine ended up being a 351W, they were drag racing it out of a pinto then they pulled it and threw it in the rail car . Back in the days it was running 7s with the bottle. Only what I was told. I couldn’t for the life of me get that carb worked out. I had it apart a few times changing things on the inside, and same result! We are VIP at Advance Auto, and they take care of us the best they can with all challenges I give them. Lol 😂 Thanks again Michael for the support. We did end up getting the black rail car out of there too, but I never did anything to it. Sonny was an old drag racer so he had stuff every where which made it fun.....
Those were the washer then the gasket is so you don't smash the gasket all the way out they go down and hit the head and hit the valve cover and then they stopped the gasket from being smashed out Love your video

Not a thumbs down, and I go back to when front engine was still allowed, but I believe NHRA rules prohibit open cage front engine rail cars.

P.O.R. 15 makes a kit to put an epoxy liner in fuel tanks like that. I've done two that were full of pinholes and both times it worked great!

The timing is off to far advanced and the carburetor needs a new accelerator pump and the fuel level checked outher than that it's just mean and nasty

Uneven compression on cranking. You can hear it. Did you do a compression test?
Considering it was under water, I was grateful we got a chance to drive it. I think I did a compression test but the engine was tired for sure
Brother, sounds like you need to replace the carb. Id try a holly 750 or 850 double pumper.
