I also chose this route instead of the direct train when I went from Amsterdam CS to Berlin Hbf, I much prefer the ICE to the standard IC

I can see why you prefer the ICE train-it’s more comfortable and has a nice cafeteria. If I’m not mistaken, the new ICE trains coming in 2025 will also have a cafeteria and even more comfort. I’m curious how they’ll be on the Amsterdam to Berlin route!

why did you took this way to travel to Berlin instead of the direct train?

I was very lucky. At that time, there was a strike in Germany about trains and better conditions. I got offered a detour from Amsterdam to Berlin. It took a little bit longer, but I got to take 2 ICE trains. The best part was that I got refunded almost 50% of the money because of the delay!
