Once you get used of the bulk and break them in, they are amazing. That cushion makes you feel safe when doing certain tricks. Also they actually have pretty decent boardfeel, when you break them in.
I have more board feel in an accel than a thin shoe like a janoski. Thin shoe trend needs to die. It's a complete lie that a thinner shoe is advantageous to skateboard with.

Probably the exact opposite. they were probably considered one of the less puffy shoes. Back around 2006 while in 9th grade and throughout the rest of highschool, I saw skaters wear huge shoes to the point of it being rediculous.

Honestly, I love the eS Accel OGs also. I actually have the eS Accel OG Plus now too (yes, the thick OG but with a strap). They are actually kind of amazing. Easily same level of Joslin 2, if not better. They're a beefier shoe. Definitely one of my favourite.
I saw they brought back the OG plus and I wanted to cop the white/snake skin cause I missed out on them years ago but it looks like they already sold out 😅

40 now , skating since I was twelve. Found this shoe around 95 or so I believe and that was that. For the next 10 years probably, this was it. Black and brown suede , white leather. And yeah they weren't this puffed up.
I like puffy skate shoes! I have a pretty wide feet so the shoes that are shaped like a loaf of bread fit perfectly 😁 Also i'm born 1988 so the time I skated big shoes were popular and I also got used to them. I like my DC Pure High tops cause they have alot of ankle protection. I have high arch feet so I have a tendency to roll my ankle more easily. Physiotherapist told me about this few years ago and that moment I understood why I rolled my ankle so many times as a teenager 😄

ÉS Accel’s in the early 2000’s where easily the best skate shoes (next to Emerica Reynolds). Everyone used to skate those 2 shoes, I got back into skating about 2-3 months ago & it blows my mind how no one skates them now
I never got a chance to skate the Reynolds but I know those were very popular back then. For me, the only thing that came close to accels were the circa cx203
E's were so hard when I was growing up in the early/mid 90's. That's all I wore and skated because of the comfort and durability. Mind you this was a time when the Osiris D3's were huge along with other shoes what my mom would call "moon shoes." Giant over the top shoes you couldn't even skate in, like DC's.

I think Es Quattro’s are the best in that line for skating. The sole is amazing. If ES offers to send you other, check the Quattro out for sure. Any of the suede ones.
It’s a perspective of your age. As a guy who did the most of my skating in the mid - late 90’s these aren’t puffy at all. Lots of my friends skated in full basketball shoes.
I've had two pairs of the OG, now I have the new one and it's really good buuut... The OG is still my favourite shoe. The real plus of the new one is the velcro, aside from that it's all slimmed down and, maybe it's habit, but the padding and slightly thicker sole feel just right.
This and Sal Barbier shoe were what I skated back in 95/96. It was a wonderful time for skating. Saw Ed templeton at Huntington Beach skatepark and was blown away! Btw I grew up in Anaheim/Fullerton. Rad times.

Any shoe that is remotely designed for skating is going to “skate” just fine. Judging “How it skates” is like judging food on how edible it is. The only factors you should care about as a skater are the longevity and price.
i like and miss puffy shoes. i'd trade board feel for comfort and durability any day. never had the accels but had several pairs of the etnies rap/mc rap and they're practically the same shoe. kinda recently got a pair of etnies senix lows which are also pretty close to the rap/accel with a little slimmer toe box and bigger ollie patch. sole tech makes some of the best skate shoes, dc as well.
Just got my first pair of puffy shoes the joslin 1 not as puffy as these but not your average vulc shoe by far … felt super comfy and didn’t even want to try another pair on
I have had at least 5 pairs of these from black to grey to that brown/gum combo. Between this and the Sal Barbier 23 eS shoes they were one of the best
I really like the og Accel, some of us who skated since the ninety's like shoes with padding, I know all you young kids like your paper thin shoes, the skate shoes industry got so bad about making only thin shoes that I started skating Nike Air Force Ones, which I never thought I'd have to resort to
They last forever, if they just trimmed the tongue padding down, and threw in a better insole...I put the Adidas adiprene insole from old superstars into these and it feels real comfy(I also took out the tongue padding completely). The soles are really durable.
Say what you will about biebs....the dude really parlayed the early teen idol thing into superstar status. Not easy to do. Plus he actually skates, plays drums, two big notches in my book. So jb is alright!!!
one of my favourite shoes but i prefer the slim ones but the og's still have the best impact protection connected with not so thrash but still thrash board feel but i'd say that these are my favourite for jumping from big stuff
I use to pick these up at Ross for dirt cheap and we all wore them and preferred them over anything else. They would last a long time and I have to agree easy to do flip tricks.
ive had a pair of red E's accel OG shoes and they lasted me 4years of skating. Granted i dont skate as often as i used to, (due to work) and i kept them nice as i could. But 4 years and now my whole button sole is able to talk. i would say they are worth gettin if you still like the old school 90's look. lol i would get another pair in a heart beat.
I got a pair of the Accel OG's about a year ago and honestly couldn't stand them and put them away. I took them for another couple of sessions about a year later and it takes a couple to break them in and really feel anything because I couldn't pop and coordinate, but after an hour sesh of just doing kickflips and heelflips they felt like regular skate shoes with some added protection.
Used to be my all time shoe, then the slim's came out and I think those took that spot (same brown gum colourway). I can't go back to the chunk now, too hard.
I use to only use es accel like mid 2000s then I fell in love with the dvs Comanche. Nowadays I’m all in on Emerica. I love them, haven’t gotten a bad pair yet. They break in really quick and they’re flexible as hell. The wino slides are probably my favorite, the Gamma is great for walking the padding in them is awesome. I got two pairs of the pillars. They’re a great mid size. I use to love the puffier shoes, but when I was a kid I was jumping down 6+ stairs and the extra padding helped against heel bruising. But now I’m older and only do casual street, fuck around with flat ground and slappys. Curb jumping ect. I’m too old and out of practice to be doing crazy shit anymore. But as long as I can I’ll keep going. Just my 2¢
You sound like myself & most of us GenX skaters. ~Try Globe Haslams or Glove w/ the built in tongue that doesn't move. Like SABRE or Fusion.. I have the Globe Encore Revolution & they are sweet. Also the Globe Haslam(Odin) were the best skate shoes i ever skated.. ~~Adidas Busenitz are the worst!! Eso for skating Fast. RIP toes!!! They dont lock your foot in place.. But Busenitz Pros are fire for chill.... I buy em for wife too.. ~~I almost Bought Nike Grant Taylors today but wife reminded me how evil & how much i hate Nike.. Instead i got ES Muska reissue..
I really like the Silo SC's they held up good about 3 months of hard skating lets just say my knee gave out before they did. EDIT: almost every time I went to a crowded park atleast one person told me they liked them.

They were actually one of the more conservative style considering this was the same time Osiris was making pillows that wrapped around your feet.

them e's shoes are super comfy only complaint is when the grip wheres down on the sole they become very slippery.
