The exact same thing I was thinking! I missed it a lot! And I think we need more longer videos again. Pleas keep making these videos like that Andrew 👍🏼
Hey, Andrew. I know you always want things done correctly. The voltage at the alternator should be at or a couple tenths + or - of 14 volts. Your voltage to the battery with the engine running should be within .5 volts of the alternator reading. If not, you have connection/wire problems. No way that amount of voltage drop is normal or acceptable. Dirty/corroded electrical connections, especially at the ground points will cause endless headaches. I recommend ScannerDanner's channel. He has good videos on dropped voltages due to corroded connections.
I replace lots of charge wires for this exact reason. Sometimes they get water runs down inside the insulation and rots a small spot deep inside the wire you can't see. Easiest way to check is to throw one jumper cable from the alternator to the battery and recheck your voltage. If it comes up to the alternator voltage you know that wire is bad. If you get good with the electrical tools it gets easier. With the engine running measure voltage between the alternator positive stud and the battery positive stud. You will measure the amount of voltage drop aka current loss in that wire. Shouldn't be more than .4v absolute maximum with all the lights and accessories on.
@@kinecty111 Yeah it was surprising the first time I saw it in one of my cars because I didn't think of a wire going "bad" but they do and its not apparent just be looking at them.

Andrew, I have watched a lot of your videos and man, there is nothing you can't repair or replace in your stock pile of equipment. You have the principle of the Marine Corp, adapt and overcome and you do that well.
For the electrical contacts, especially in that under-dash area, it would be advisable to use dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. But I have to say, you do great work...
For the gas drip out the overflow line, check that the tiny spring loaded plunger that is on one end of the needle valve. Make sure that it's still there and that it works properly ----- The float shuts off the flow from the tank when the float rises with the bowl level and moves the rubber end of the needle into it's seat...if the the tiny spring doesn't return the plunger to full extension or if it's missing, bent or is stuck while depressed in the needle it will allow the bowl level to rise too far, thus the excess gas flows out the overflow line.
Those magnetic parts trays are one of the best tools I have bought in a long time. You can stick them on a vertical surface and the parts stay inside (the metal parts that is). I found a set of 3"x3", 6"x6" and 3"x9" for $10 at Harbor Freight. I bought four sets. I have them everywhere.
You have rock easily broken up, beautiful streams of water to harness water, electricity, pond for fish to harvest, for watering a garden and a greenhouse and a swim in hole. Trees the perfect size and lots of different hardwoods to mill, for log houses, lumber, firewood, posts, fuel for syngas. It all can be consumed. I wish I owned a square mile with a mountain in the middle, the Hudson bordering. Valleys for grass for cows, horses , pigs. Enough timber to sell, harvest for cabins buildings, for fuel. A big ole stream of water year round flowing down with waterfalls. Wow hillbilly heaven I’d say and near Woodstock .
Hello! 🙂 The carburetor float valves sometimes have a little rubber tip on them and that ethanol fuel can degrade it and make it useless. It is best to replace it and the seat that goes with it. Use non ethanol gas after that.

I enjoy all of your videos even though I only know where to put gas into my car and windshield fluid and not really an interest in knowing more. But you make mechanic work look fun because you passion shines through! Thank you for all you do!
Some voltage drop is to be expected if there's a large current draw. You could reduce the drop by using thicker wires, but it shouldn't be too problematic.
Ideally the alternator output wire should go directly to the battery. You get quite a bit of voltage drop through that long wire that goes up to the ammeter then back down to the battery. I'd guess that it originally had a dynamo. It will still charge, just more slowly than if the wire went directly to the battery.
It's funny, when watching the 'I bought a mountain' video, it crossed my mind how many trees you were cutting down. This comes from a New Englander who has no really problem in doing so, but there was something in me that, for some reason, had a reaction to it. That opening drone shot just shows how it's only a drop in a bucket. Reminds me when my grandpa told me that in the 1700s it was 90% farm land and 10% trees but now it's flipped. Truly awe inspiring seeing the vast sea of green your surrounded by, and that you could double the trees you've cut and it'd still be twice nothing haha.
I am working on almost the same ATV for someone and they had taken out the air box and several other parts and couldn't remember how any of it went back in. I would have figured it out pretty easily enough but this video gave me exactly what I needed to know and I wasn't even looking for the info yet. Thanks Andrew!!!
Awesome video Andrew. What an amazing young lady to have around. Another pair of hands and another host of mechanical skills to help get jobs done. Keep up the great work. Hope you don't have any long lasting issues with your knee mate
Tracing a wire to a bad connection is such a fulfilling feeling. Also ratchett straps for batteries are such a simple solution to the metal clamps that often decay into oblivion.
I just did this on my old Honda rancher. $30 Amazon carb and new petcock are essential. My gas tank needed a rinse too. Runs like a champ now with no choke needed.
Nice repairs/maintenance, I still wouldn't expect that much voltage loss though, might need a heavier cable between the alternator and the cb. Brown pup looking great, growing well.

For the electrical contacts, especially in that under-dash area, it would be advisable to use dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. But I have to say, you do great work...
As a retired plumber/pipefitter/refrigeration mechanic, I appreciate your approach to problem solving.!
For the gas drip out the overflow line, check that the tiny spring loaded plunger that is on one end of the needle valve.
Make sure that it's still there and that it works properly -----
The float shuts off the flow from the tank when the float rises with the bowl level and moves the rubber end of the needle into it's seat...if the the tiny spring doesn't return the plunger to full extension or if it's missing, bent or is stuck while depressed in the needle it will allow the bowl level to rise too far, thus the excess gas flows out the overflow line.
I was yelling "NEEDLE VALVE!" at my screen. I had to do the same thing. I ended up buying a new carb for $40 in the end.
@@OhioCarl me too that’s the first thing I thought of.
There's a tang on the float that contacts the needle... it sets the float level. You bend that to set the float... I'd bend it a little and try it!

You camera work and production value is amazing and well done. It's your second calling, Andrew. I enjoy all of your videos even though I only know where to put gas into my car and windshield fluid and not really an interest in knowing more. But you make mechanic work look fun because you passion shines through! Thank you for all you do!
Thanks A for being an active fun hit me up to

Some voltage drop is to be expected if there's a large current draw. You could reduce the drop by using thicker wires, but it shouldn't be too problematic.
Thanks. Even though I will never fix an alternator, its good to know!
Ideally the alternator output wire should go directly to the battery. You get quite a bit of voltage drop through that long wire that goes up to the ammeter then back down to the battery. I'd guess that it originally had a dynamo. It will still charge, just more slowly than if the wire went directly to the battery.
@@LesNewell Cat runs power through the amp gauge and too battery? Think ? Alt gauge then bat and changes wire size ? Been awhile since?
A great mix of scenery to start- looking forward to the show! 😀
I’m never disappointed with a video from Andrew. Love the work disposition, easy going nature, and the puppies!

Blue is growing up sooo fast...he is no longer an awkward puppy, growing into a beautiful dog, can't wait to see him running circles around Cody
Looks like you got a good set of extra hands, driver , cameraman . Not afraid of getting their hands dirty .
I have probably watched every single one of your videos 5 times. That is how much I love watching your videos. Keep it up
It's funny, when watching the 'I bought a mountain' video, it crossed my mind how many trees you were cutting down.
Great job 👏 make sure your up to date on your shots working around all that rust. Good luck 👍
I am working on almost the same ATV for someone and they had taken out the air box and several other parts and couldn't remember how any of it went back in. I would have figured it out pretty easily enough but this video gave me exactly what I needed to know and I wasn't even looking for the info yet. Thanks Andrew!!!
That’s good
your repairs pay for themselves and then some thanks to your superb documentation. what a time to be alive right?
Opening drone shot and pan were worth the price of admission alone. Thumbs up!
Great vid brother… looks like your radiator was smoking a lil at the end there would have been cool to see a repair on it to 😊 keep up the good work!
merci beaucoup andrew pour toute les video que vous mette en ligne vous est le meilleurs josé
Repair videos are some of my favorites from Andrew
Nice toy's Andrew. Awesome to have help. Beautiful homestead.
Congratulations

Another great video. The intro with the drone coming in and zeroing in on the pups is fantastic. Always enjoy watching you repair equipment.
How cute! Blue has learned from Cody how to run alongside you as you drive whatever machine you’re driving. He’s growing up fast!
Love the small engine repairs
I just did this on my old Honda rancher. $30 Amazon carb and new petcock are essential. My gas tank needed a rinse too. Runs like a champ now with no choke needed.
Nice repairs/maintenance, I still wouldn't expect that much voltage loss though, might need a heavier cable between the alternator and the cb. Brown pup looking great, growing well.
Thanks Andrew, looks like your leg's still giving a bit of trouble, great to see Blue getting bigger and more willing to give Cody a little bit of peace.
Andrew thanks very much for the video. The drone footage was amazing. I'm "jelous" about that amazing piece of land. Amazing small mountain you have over there
Nice To se That you have a helping hand
When you work , nice lady, good for you.
My grandpa had aurthritis but when it came to four wheelers that didnt stop him, when he became to authritic to shift, he had a bar attached to shifter that came up beside gas tank and shifted by hand

Your secondary plot is so beautiful Andrew, not as beautiful as your castle home but lovely none the less. It's lovely to see all the greenery great drone skills you have there and cute dogs 🐕 . Love watching your videos.
I saw 32:05 minutes on the time stamp when I started to watch the video, thinking that's a long video. When 32:05 rolled around, it was like. Wait, what, that can be the end of the video, it went so fast. Thanks Andrew love your videos!
Thanks
I placed a piece of plywood down and an old rubber floor mat on it to help keep the battery from sliding around. Another great vlog.
Beautiful country love everything that you do and maintenance is very important. Glad to see you're not by yourself, Love seeing the dogs also
Levi would of loved that spot up there!! Miss that dog!!

Not only has your apprentice got some great engine skills, im assuming he shot most of this episode too, he has great cinematography instincts... you must be a hell of a mentor
That is his sister, I believe.
Look more closely, There are exactly two genders on this planet and you got it wrong. Andrew's mechanically inclined GF.

Thanks Andrew & who ever your helper is....👍
Andrew's mechanically inclined GF?
A good channel is one that doesn't have to put out videos every week. content instead of quantity. Andrew is the master of this. always leave them wanting more :)
Exactly. I look forward to the videos. Its not easy running a channel like his. Very entertaining. Im working on it.
Hey, Andrew. I have a foreman 450, great machines, similar if not the same Carb. Had the same fuel leak issue and tracked it back to the needle/float valve being dirty. Moose racing makes a great rebuild kit. Not only fixed the issue, but pepped up the machine . Also, that primer on the bowl likes to rot out, leak, and start stinking like old fuel.
Congratulations you have been

Hi Andrew, I follow you from Italy ... I have seen all your videos, e on what you do, you can see that there is passion ... Beautiful dogs and all that you have built and congratulations also for the estate and the fleet. Keep it up you are a great ... Greetings from the Italian 👍
Such drone footage and editing! I bet most people don't realize you do it all.
Now it's time to build a proper house on top of that mountain! You know waterproofed, insulated properly, air conditioned heated and fireproof.
Yup, his beautiful camera work in this episode harkens back to his classic style that hooked me on his channel originally a couple years ago....beautiful!
Dear Mr. Camarata.
👍👌👏 Very well done again (video and work). You're definitely good with the drone. 2) Maybe putting some grease nipples on the pedal bases to lube the axle would help to handle the dozer. Unfortunately penetration oil doesn't last long as a lubricant.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you (including the wonderful dogs of course).
