I know goldfish like fruit, and I give certain fish things like melons and berries on occasion. The red might stick out, but my guess is it's the smell.
You shouldn't rerelease carp! Even if they aren't one of the more dangerous Asian species, no carps are native to North America. Many of the states that have a requirement to kill Asian carps just say all carps. However, it does seem like Massachusetts is not one of the states with a kill order. But for everyone else, check your local laws. These animals are extremely harmful to local and native wildlife
Everyone says that but never explains how they harm the environment, in general no one ever explains how invasion is any different from permanent migration
@@kirbe5039 as someone who was highly dedicated in environmentalism earlier in my life, I can explain, or at least provide sources that can explain better than me First off, "permanent migration" is not really a thing. Instead what happens is a new species comes into the habitat, changes it to fit their needs, then the habitat moves on. There's very few cases where an invasive species doesn't alter the preexisting environment However, that doesn't mean it can't change. Some habitats have adopted certain non-native species in, essentially making them a part of the system. I don't have any examples off the top of my head, but it would be very unlikely for this not to have happened The biggest issue with invasive species comes with humans, when we take one animal and put it somewhere else. Most of these events have happened way too recently for the habitat to have adopted the species. Some of the best ways to combat this are A) manually trapping and killing each species or B) introducing more of a native predator (called biocontrol) Now, the problem with carp specifically? Well, as the National Park Service of Mississippi says: "Invasive carp cause serious damage to the native fish populations in the lakes and rivers that they infest because they out-compete other fish for food and space. Carp are also thought to lower water quality, which can kill off sensitive organisms like native freshwater mussels." This includes all carp, not just the Asian species. However, as the NPS notes, silver carp are one of the worst However, unlike other invasive species that could be caught with traps and killed with poison, we can't do that with fish because, well, we don't want to poison the Mississippi River. So instead, certain barriers have been established along the river and its tributaries, meant to prevent the carp from making it further up the stream. These themselves won't kill the carp, which is why we need fishermen to go and personally kill them, thus why so many states have a kill order for all carp species
@@NickSmith-fe7lp that doesn't really explain why it is something that we should worry about after all it is a part of nature, and before you say anything about human involvement, humans are apart of nature just like any other animal therefore a human introducing a new species into a habitat wouldn't be unnatural by definition.
@@kirbe5039 that's such a bad reasoning. "It's part of nature that an animal was taken halfway across the world". Bullshit, and you know it, yet you don't admit it So what, all extinctions caused by humans is "part of nature"? Every time humans have killed off a species, that's just nature at work? No, that's not how it works And you know what? Even if it was, why shouldn't we try and save the species and the environment? Why should we just let it die by our own hands? We aren't a part of nature, or at least an equal part. We created nature in our heads, defined it as we do all other things. We are higher up than the old natural order, which is why we must not only protect it, but preserve it Your whole argument falls apart the second someone actually thinks it through. The only people who claim "we are part of nature, therefore everything we do is natural" are either children or people highly uneducated on sustainability and environmentalism
There are Tons of carp in my local lakes but literally no one fishes for them. I catch them occasionally by accident fishing for catfish, and I’ve even had them attack small bass lures. But i might try actually targeting them purposely sometime. There has to be quite literally millions of them in some of the larger lakes in my area.

Carp are even more fun to spear. If you get a stable sit on top kayak you can creep up slow streams and stab them as they swim by or slowly float over them.
Cherry jello is also effective for hunting wild hogs. The one time i went with my uncle to his trap they mixed cherry jello packets with cornfeed. Apparently they love the stuff lol

Most simple and best explanation is that strawberry flavored jello has a taste that no other food that these fish ever experience and so they go for it cause it’s new, something like that

The sugar content in jello isn't something I'd give pet fish, but for something like carp the sweetness would appeal. I know goldfish like fruit, and I give certain fish things like melons and berries on occasion. The red might stick out, but my guess is it's the smell.
In South Africa our way of carp fishing is similar but we use a spring to hold the bait we use a mix called mieliebom
@@kirbe5039 as someone who was highly dedicated in environmentalism earlier in my life, I can explain, or at least provide sources that can explain better than me
First off, "permanent migration" is not really a thing. Instead what happens is a new species comes into the habitat, changes it to fit their needs, then the habitat moves on. There's very few cases where an invasive species doesn't alter the preexisting environment
However, that doesn't mean it can't change. Some habitats have adopted certain non-native species in, essentially making them a part of the system. I don't have any examples off the top of my head, but it would be very unlikely for this not to have happened
The biggest issue with invasive species comes with humans, when we take one animal and put it somewhere else. Most of these events have happened way too recently for the habitat to have adopted the species. Some of the best ways to combat this are A) manually trapping and killing each species or B) introducing more of a native predator (called biocontrol)
Now, the problem with carp specifically? Well, as the National Park Service of Mississippi says: "Invasive carp cause serious damage to the native fish populations in the lakes and rivers that they infest because they out-compete other fish for food and space. Carp are also thought to lower water quality, which can kill off sensitive organisms like native freshwater mussels." This includes all carp, not just the Asian species. However, as the NPS notes, silver carp are one of the worst
However, unlike other invasive species that could be caught with traps and killed with poison, we can't do that with fish because, well, we don't want to poison the Mississippi River.
Bullshit, and you know it, yet you don't admit it
So what, all extinctions caused by humans is "part of nature"? Every time humans have killed off a species, that's just nature at work? No, that's not how it works
And you know what? Even if it was, why shouldn't we try and save the species and the environment? Why should we just let it die by our own hands? We aren't a part of nature, or at least an equal part. We created nature in our heads, defined it as we do all other things. We are higher up than the old natural order, which is why we must not only protect it, but preserve it
Your whole argument falls apart the second someone actually thinks it through. The only people who claim "we are part of nature, therefore everything we do is natural" are either children or people highly uneducated on sustainability and environmentalism
wow that man’s balls worked wonders
That better not have been an Asian carp or else you may have just committed a crime by letting it go.
He literally said it was a Common Carp
@@absolfusion3688 and he clarified further it wasn't an Asian carp later in another video yes. I am aware.
There are Tons of carp in my local lakes but literally no one fishes for them.
I catch them occasionally by accident fishing for catfish, and I’ve even had them attack small bass lures. But i might try actually targeting them purposely sometime.
Its interesting being on my paddle board in a secluded quiet bay on the lake, because every like 5 to 10 seconds theres a splash somewhere from a carp jumping. There has to be quite literally millions of them in some of the larger lakes in my area.
Don't release carp ever.
they are not invasive everywhere
bighead carp, silver carp, black carp, grass carp ( but some pond stock grass carp for algae problems) are invasive. But not common carp, mirror carp and leather carp are considered naturalized in most of states of the us.
Bros fishing with a big ass meat ball💀
Casually releases invasive species (assuming this is america)
bighead carp, silver carp, black carp, grass carp ( but some pond stock grass carp for algae problems) are invasive. But not common carp, mirror carp and leather carp are considered naturalized in most of states of the us.
Yeah, throw them back in that’s really smart
common carp aren't invasive..............
In europe for carp fishing we have this lets say food that we mix with water and we get something like this you used in video it would blow your mind how much things we use to catch a carp or gras carp
Carp only eat what is locally used often stuff they. Don't see or smell often doesn't work well corn is best recipe or cream corn mixed with quick / instant oatmeal mixed together .
I fish on tench, carp and rud(very rarely catching it) and even pike if i get lucky
Those are the only fish and j use fish bait powder into balls and we call it bread, and catch small fish with small hooks and big fisj with bigger hooks
And i also fish with sweet corn, effective but not effective for competitions,
You say they aren't a trash fish and then boom You're fishing for them in water full of trash💀
If it’s a trash fish just because it is around a dirty area, I’ve got bad news for you about most animals you eat
the amount of trash in the water and the pollution tollerance of carp is why they are not eaten in the states
My dad uses a type of maize which consists of crushed corn (not finely) and he mixes it with molases (not sure about the spelling, i just know it's a dark brown liquid) he makes use of these small cages where he puts it in and he gets pretty good catch out of it
just one major question about the molasses
are we talking: mild, bold, or blackstrap?
highly doubt it's blackstrap cause that stuff is more bitter than sinner's hide.
This is not a secret your buddy taught you… this is something your buddy learned from cats and carp brought to you by Luke Nichol’s so give the real goat credit
Be careful kicking that Carp it might evolve into a Gyarados
“I let the incredibly invasive and destructive fish go”
he explained in a different video that this is a different, native species to the waters he's fishing in
@@thats_odd if he’s fishing anywhere in North America, the fish in this video is incredibly invasive. It’s a common carp.
bro that could've been ur dinner tonight
jello is made from gelatin which is 100% protein. it is collagen protein though another variety from that in muscles, but still protein.
Carp are even more fun to spear. If you get a stable sit on top kayak you can creep up slow streams and stab them as they swim by or slowly float over them.
“Why does my fish taste like strawberry”
Now I understand why they call them trash fish
pov you just caught and released a carp..
It’s a carp.
The only thing easier to catch than a carp is a bluegill.
in Australia we do more saltwater fishing than freshwater fishing just more fish in the sea
Yeah I noticed that to but some people still do freshwater fishing
@@SabrinaZhang-q6b and in Australia carp just taste like arce
I caught a big 15 pound catfish out of one of my ponds today, always makes you feel cool.
Cherry jello is also effective for hunting wild hogs. The one time i went with my uncle to his trap they mixed cherry jello packets with cornfeed. Apparently they love the stuff lol
Saved this video for a rainy day, the day I have to eat a nasty carp fish, in the zombie apocalypse
They aren't that bad honestly. Just make sure you bleed em right away.
Other fishers are getting jello-us of him.
from what i noticed back when i used to carp fish is carp want something new they've done corn they've done luncheon meat they've done worms and maggots but the freakier the flavour the more interested they are
on the topic of strawberry though they sell strawberry lungeon meat (spam essentially)
just don't eat it its fucking nausiating stuff
carps also seem to love spicy shit too
Most simple and best explanation is that strawberry flavored jello has a taste that no other food that these fish ever experience and so they go for it cause it’s new, something like that
Strawberry Mini wheats trust me take 3 to 4 in your hand dip them in the water crush them up and put them on your line and long as you got the water to mini wheats ratio good and don’t absolutely sling them they should stay on and work really good
Steak seasoning coolaid mix and shrimp works well for carp and cat fish
Congrats on 300k!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Did I just witness an American with an unhooking mat😮
Aren't carp invasive in America? Obviously I don't know where you are but if you're in the US don't release it, if you don't want to eat it just leave it out for other animals.
Ain’t no way he falling for that one again
Carp are invasive where I’m at so I was a little surprised to see it go back in
