  • An easy and inexpensive way to add the capability to use 12 volt accessories in a 6 volt vehicle, in this specific case, my 1948 Willys CJ2A, Grampa’s Jeep.

Thank you for your contribution to the 6v society. It was very helpful. I will do the same to my car. Now I don’t have the need to convert it to 12v.

Great idea! I have the 24V M38A1 and the previous owner converted the lights and ignition to 12V by tapping off the first battery to get the 12V. Not great for the battery. Seeing this video inspired me to look for a 24V to 12V converter. I will be adding a converter to the M38A1 in the near future. Thanks for the inspiration! I imagine your winter has also been pretty wet. When will you be getting back on the trails? It might be a few weeks before it dries out enough here to hit the trails.

That's interesting. I have a 6V Renault Dauphine and was wondering about how to go about this. So you did this work 10 months ago... how has it worked out? Has anything burnt out or failed? Have you kept the 20 amp fuse?

It works great. No failures or burnt fuses.

Just about to do this on my Willys MB and thinking of using a 10amp fuse. Have you you had any issues with your set up since it’s been in a while?
    Cheers
    Sean.

I'm curious if your 6 volt system is positive or negative ground. I could see something like this working in a Ford Model A which is a 6 Volt positive ground.

Willys Jeeps are negative ground. I think it should work for pisitive ground, but I don't know enough about electricity to really advise you.
